The second instalment in out series of members articles focussing on team statistics takes a look at the defensive side of things. We analyse the last six Gameweeks, checking the key indicators to assess each side in terms of potential defensive returns…
😆 @ wenger walking off without shaking hands
Open ControlsI'm thinking I'm going to ship Suarez for 1 week only for (pick one)
A) Aguero (CHE)
B) Roo (qpr)
C) Other (who?)Open ControlsFor one week only, I would take Rooney over Aguero. I may be deluding myself, but I think Lukaku is the best option.
Open Controls
"best league in the world" ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Open ControlsNot the best structured argument, but I agree.
Open ControlsIn excitement - you knumbnut. Who gives a crap about german football?
Open ControlsBayern - top of their league by about 10 points.
Arsenal - 5th.Open ControlsIt is the most exciting league in the world.
The premiership doesn't have any of Europes very top sides (barca, Madrid, bayern etc) but the depth and excitement makes it the bestOpen ControlsNot sure there's an etc after the three teams you mentioned.
Open Controls
How much strength is there is the Bundesliga anyway? For the first time in years, Dortmund got through the group stages. Stupid comment.
Open ControlsThis. The prem has depth. Not necessarily Europes elite, but the most quality in depth.
Open ControlsA league with Qpr, Wigan, west ham, Sunderland, Fulham, Everton, villa and west brom? You appear to be having a laugh
Open ControlsDo you think Arsenal would be 5th best in the Bundesliga?
Open ControlsSorry, thought you were talking depth not just the top teams????????
Right now arsenal would struggle to be 5th best in ScotlandOpen ControlsThe likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Everton would finish higher in the Bundelsliga than in the Prem.
Oh, and brilliant comment with regard to Arsenal struggling to be 5th best in ScotlandOpen ControlsLeverkusen are third, didn't rate them at all last season. Moenchengladbach failed to get through to the CL group stages.
Open ControlsMy point is most people voice eloquent about leagues and teams they know nothing about. To say the premier league is the most exciting in the world implies knowledge and viewing of other leagues that the posters don't have. To argue the strongest teams are stronger in individual games is valid but people spout nonsense as fact on here a lot
Open Controls
You even heard of Gruther Furth, Augsberg, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Nurnberg, Mainz?
Open ControlsReply to Malcolm
Open ControlsSo what you are saying is the premier league is best at being ignorant of other leagues? Good point well made.
Open Controls
Do the Germans, Spanish, French and Italians say the premier league is the most exciting in the world or is it just the English and the more recent colonies?
Do they say mediocre English players are world class as well?Open ControlsEXACTLY
Open ControlsThe Spanish regularly say they're the best (skill) the Italians (tactical), the English (Pace, excitement). Germans? Efficiency? Thats sexy....
Open ControlsGo play German FPL then. You won't be missed here.
Open ControlsNice thought out and constructive argument. You appear to have a growth around your head. Oh, wait, that's your anus
Open Controls
All you slating the premier league go and play
Bundesliga fantasy football. It'll be a struggle to
field a descent 11.Open ControlsNot slating the premier league. I love it. What i don't love is the "we're the best" attitude from anyone who can't back it up. A valid argument not blind banging of the drum would be nice from those who refuse to even consider other views
Open ControlsI know where you're coming from. I prefer the prem as anyone can beat anyone but in the other leagues this is nigh on impossible, particularly la Liga which is nearly as bad as Scotland in its too sidedness ( though now admittedly it's one sided)
Open ControlsCheers mate. I prefer to watch the premier league for that reason but as we say, it is preference not fact that it is 'better'. 😉
Open Controls
Why do you talk in such a pompous way? You've had a valid argument - people like the EPL because its more fun to watch - the best league to watch - in other words, the best league in the world. Its opinion, you douche bag and doesn't need backing up. Lighten up.
Open ControlsPompous? Really? Because i say what i mean in a clear manner. O-k.
Best agree to disagree then. Was never looking for an argument, just a discussion. Hey hoOpen ControlsYes pompous - Full of yourself and full of...
If you weren't looking for argument why post the replies you did - I should have just told you to 'get out from under your bridge' and leave it at that.Open Controls
arsenal need 3 goals. can't see them progressing now....
if neuer hadn't saved that giroud shot it would be a completely different storyOpen ControlsYour first sentence wins understatement of the year award
Open Controls
Thank god we have Jack Wilshere. The only glimmer of hope that Arsenal will be alright.
Open ControlsSo many Arsenal players out of their depth. One dimensional midfield and rubbish at the back.
Arteta is pointless alongside Santi and Wilshire. No legs, strength or goals between them.
Walcott hasnt the quality to play CF against a well organised defence.
Szczesny is useless.
Podolski isn't actualy that great beyond a hefty shot.
Bayern are organised. Lahm is a flying machine...Open ControlsNeed a top experienced holding mid to sit behind wilshere and santi , so obvious why Wenger see this
A decent striker (Giroud is squad)
centre back would be nice alsoOpen Controls
Bayern Munich will join illustrious company if as expected they knock Arsenal out of a cup..... Bradford and Blackburn.
Open Controls😆
Open ControlsMichael Vaughan just tweeted something similar 😀
Open ControlsThe Killer Bs
Open ControlsDoesn't the team that beats Arsenal usually win the Champions league?
Open ControlsThey need the back four to wear one of those beekeeping masks, they are good for defence against B's.
I'll get my coat.Open ControlsAwkward, but along the right lines 😉
Open Controls
Bayern will be in Kroos control for the second leg
Open ControlsNo.
Suarez > CisseOpen Controlswhy's that?
i already have sissoko, soton defense has been pretty solid recently and giroud plays villaOpen ControlsNot going to lie and say I have thought about it too much.
I just have a feeling he will score well.
The fact that he will definitely play (barring injury) in gw29 helps too.Open Controls
they do but i'm not sure if he'll score or not... hasn't been doing too well this season
and shirley giroud's fixture this gw is better than cisseOpen ControlsI'm just slightly hesitant about the blank... But I have serious Giroud love, had him quite a lot this season... What about Kun?
Open Controls
I would wait to see if Everton win their replay. If Giroud has a blank in 29, his appeal is dampened a bit.
Open Controlswhat about for a one week punt before i decide who i want between aguero/lambert/cisse?
when is the replay again?Open ControlsI don't really know, but the possibility of major week 29 blanks (Maybe United, maybe Chelsea?) has me skittish about bringing players with doubts for that week...
Open Controls
There's still half the gameweek or go, but I'm on course to win 280 quid right now off a free totelfootball bet. I'm liking this already.
Open ControlsHow many teams are in the main pool?
Open ControlsYou know you won't win it now you've said that.
Open Controls
Out of interest how many teams did people enter to the Totelfootball league? I entered 3.
Open Controls4 in the FFS Scout pool. The 4th is failing miserably, but then it was my control team.
Open ControlsZero.
Open ControlsI lopped my £10 in just to pass on. Website and game looks poor.
Open Controls
Message to Arsenal fans, in fact message to all...an evening of Jim Beam and coke makes everything seem bloody good!
Open ControlsThe morning after makes you want to puke!
Open ControlsSubstitute red vermouth for the coke. Manhattan - now you're talking.
Open Controls
Hope there is a Wenger interview.
Open Controls😆
Open Controls
Hmm arsenal beaten by Bradford, Blackburn and Bayern.... who do they have next in the league?
Good aul Baston Villa (Blue and Clarets)Open ControlsBenteke.
Open Controls
Playing at home for Bayern will be a big advantage, their stadium is a lot Neuer.
I can see them Robben Arsenal their place in the next round.Open ControlsAn AC milan clean sheet and some attacking points from Draxler and I might win 😀 Now who is Draxler...
Open Controls- Open Controls
Got Pique and Alba in mine. A Barca clean sheet is definitely needed for me.
Open Controls
AS I'm stuck with Ibra on -2(c), I'm happy with my 56 but will have to transfer out a 3 pointer to get in Messi-I think it's worth it.........
Open ControlsCurrently have Walcott as captain, and vice captain as Bale.. Maybe this is time to swap them around..?
Open ControlsQuoi?
Open ControlsThey need to bounce back and could react to this defeat with a big performance..........happens a lot...........
Open ControlsYes, I know that, I'm just after opinions on the matter 😉 I know many are going to be in the same boat and want to hear what others are thinking..
Open Controls
Famous last words......
Open Controls
They also HAD to bounce back from Blackburn and looked even worse. I'm also considering Walcott to Bale Captain now too.
Open Controlsit's a bit harder to bounce back vs the dominant league leaders of germany who haven't conceded a league goal in 2013 and have only conceded 7 goals in the league all season than it is to aston villa
Open Controls
They also HAD to bounce back from Blackburn and looked even worse tonight. I'm also considering Walcott to Bale Captain now too.
Open ControlsBouncing back against bayern compared to bouncing back against villa is almost a different sport
Open Controls
the big question is, will england have any teams competing in the next round of the CL?
Open Controls😆 Like the link, although it does the Podcast a bit of a disservice!
Open ControlsDon't sugarcoat it Santi, just say what you feel 😛
Open Controls😆 "he found my dog"
Open ControlsZaba Demel Martin Dawson Enrique
Mata Bale Fellaini Walcott Punchy
RvP Suarez Sturridge
Suarez for who? Giroud/ Lambert/ Aguero/ Cisse (-4)
All opinions welcome 🙂 have to do the Kun transfer tonight due to Suarez dropping...Open Controlswe have pretty similar setups with 7/8 of the same attackers (i have marv 🙁 while you have punch).
like i said above, i'm thinking of giroud for a week vs villa then reassessing and deciding btween the other 3 optionsOpen ControlsThanks TW... The thing I'm worried about is I have Fell, Zaba, Mata, Wally, RvP already potentially out... I could have major problems in GW29
Open Controlsyeah that could be problematic.... though i guess if that's the case, most will be struggling along with you.
the move makes a bit more sense for me as i only have rvp mata walcott from the 8 teams with potential blanks.
if you don't go giroud i would say get aguero but he could have a blank in gw 29 as well (though less likely).
of the safe options that definitely have a game, i'd go with lambert. been playing well, 3rd best striker so far this year, on pens, has good fixtures at least the next 3-4 games, and has proved he can score against anyoneOpen ControlsThanks TW, looking at your situation I think Ollie is the way to go 🙂 Think he really good tear it up and you won't have much of an issue getting him out if you have to.
I was just looking at the stats and Giroud and Lambert are right up there with Suarez and SturridgeOpen Controls
11 years, 8 months ago
So does that mean giroud starts v villa?
