Scout League entrants continue to push for the top prize in the Sky Sports game, with Pascal Evans’ twin assault on the top prize now in full swing. We doff our caps to the leading runners and riders, examine the latest movements in the game’s transfer market and look ahead to the latest episode of the show that brings Fantasy Football to our TV screens…

The Scout League

Pascal Evans’ reign at the top of the Scout League continues as he stretches his legs and gains an eight-point advantage over Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” in second. What’s extraordinary about Evans’ consistency this term is that both his teams are now in our top six, behind the likes of Lewis Nicklen, Chris Pearce and Paul McAnulty – all former leaders.

Evans’ “Covport2” now sits in fourth in the overall standings but the gap to the top has narrowed, somewhat – he is now just 73 points behind in the race for the £25k top prize. Given his momentum right now, you wouldn’t bet against him closing further in the coming weeks.

With Evans’ two entries amongst the eight teams in the top 20, the Scout League is just over 15 points ahead in the Private League rankings.

In terms of the contributors, my Sky Sports campaign has been boosted of late, lifting me into the top 200 with a 35th spot ranking in the Scout League, to make me the current leading contributor on 1480 points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Robin Van Persie’s goal and assist returns in the win over Everton were enough to reinstate him in the Fantasy thinking, ensuring that the Dutchman has been the most transferred in player this week. Almost 37% of transfers have involved the acquisition of Van Persie, following several weeks where we’ve seen the trend lean the other way after he produced a couple of blanks. Indeed, there were still almost 20% of transfers made this week that saw Van Persie sold on, although it’s clear that confidence has been restored somewhat following the haul against the Toffees. Van Persie remains within 47% of squads in this game.

Luis Suarez has felt the pinch in terms of ownership ahead of Liverpool’s blank Gameweek. Despite fetching handsome returns in the rout of Swansea last time out, the Uruguayan has been party to 40% of the transfers out made this week. While 26% of transfers have seen Suarez acquired, there’s a clear loss of ownership in evidence, with the trade back to Van Persie seemingly a popular route.

Significantly, however, based on form over the last four Gameweeks, Suarez remains strong: he has scored 30 points over that period in the Sky Sports game, a total only matched amongst the forwards by Wayne Rooney. Daniel Sturridge lies fifth in those form rankings, with 23 points from his last four Gameweeks – a factor which is perhaps convincing Suarez owners to cash in. With 20.5 points per million, however, Suarez remains the top value striker in the game.

Mirroring trends in the Fantasy Premier League game, Gareth Bale has attracted plenty of interest from Sky Sports managers, with over 16% of transfers in seeing the Welshman signed up in the last seven days – more than any other midfielder. Surprisingly, Bale’s ownership is still simmering at just about the 15% mark. Bale is the most in-form player in the game based on the last four Gameweeks – collecting no less than 36 points in that spell, four points ahead of Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Batten down the hatches: midfield bad boy, Lee Bowyer, is the latest signing for the Fantasy Football Club. He’ll be joining Fenners and Merse in the changing room for tonight’s show at 10pm on Sky Sports One. A reminder that, if you miss the show this evening, you can view a repeat on Sky Sports Two at 9am the following morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I have the "P5" + RVP Sturridge and Le Fondre

Don't know who to transfer out this week, it doesn't make sense to transfer out Le Fondre this gw because he has Wigan and he's atleast going to get a few mins

So I was thinking remove Michu (SP 8.1)for Sissoko?

    Pearce / Cameron / Sagna
    Marveaux / Fellaini / Bale / Walcott (C) / Mata
    Fletcher / RVP

    Bench: Cerny / Enrique / Davies / Sturridge - 2FT and 0.4m in bank.

Sagna injured and Marveaux out of favour for league games.

    Have exact money for:

    Sagna -> Santon
    Marveaux -> Maloney

Only thing putting me off is Maloney’s blank in gw29 when it looks like I’ll be struggling to field a team – Kebe(doubt) or McAnuff are other options that have a game gw29.

    Thoughts?

debate to field 10 or take a hit to field 11

if u field 10 players and u dont take a 4pt hit, you are losing 2pts (on average for every palyer fielded) compared to other players fielding 11 players

if u take a 4 pt hit to filed 11 players, then you are losing 4 pts from your score, but u should get 2pts(on average for every palyer fielded) in return from the player u select to transfer it, thus losing again 2 pts

any thoughts? am i missing something?

If it's a defender they often won't make the 4 points back. Depends if it's for long term benefit or not.

May work well for you long term aswell. Think of that.
And i'd argue that a players average is 2points. More like 4points when you usually get 50+ points. But the expected total may be 2points for that player..

Pick a long term player and never look back 😉

      Yes - you're missing something.

      you have 0 players = 0 points
your opponents have 1 player = 2 pts

      You pay - 4 to get 1 player = -2 points
Your opponents have 1 player = 2 points

In sum, you need at least 4 points out of your new player to break even. (assuming the average of 2 points)

Scout tweets say O'Brien and McCartney back in training. O'Brien just back in full training today, so might not start, but most appear to think he will and that Demel will be on the bench.

    Begovic - Federici

    Enrique - Jones - Demel - Clyne - Davies

    Bale - Mata - Walcott - Michu - Puncheon

    RVP - Suarez - Sturridge

Is this a good idea? Enrique + Suarez -> Evans + Aguero (2FTs) (bench Davies, Michu, Sturridge)

no. you're too at risk if all 4 games are blanks in gw 29. you'd have rvp mata walcott aguero and evans all out.... try enrique + suarez > evans + lambert instead

Any love for Remy in here? QPR have a nice run of games after the United match.
Thinking about moving Sturrigde and Guthrie out for Remy and Sissoko in order to field at least 10 this week. Stupid?

Fair enough. I have Clyne and Puncehon so I don't want to treble up with Lambert.

Giroud for a one week punt then > Dzeko is looking decent.

good man! join me on giroud for a week! might keep him for the derby if i think there will be goals in it.

wait to make sure dzeko is still nailed on.... benteke is another option for you if you don't want lambert

But QPR have it all to play for, and looking at there fixture list and knowing Remy should be the guy they trust to get the goals.
I lead the ML and should'nt do punts, but this one is teasing me... :/

qpr won't score many goals..... go with lambert or sturridge are your best bets. benteke a good shout too. both villa and soton will be fighting to avoid the drop and both are teams that can score a lot. benteke and lambert are both on penalties and can score against anyone

I was under the impression that the possibility of a Man City GW29 blank was less strong than others because they were no longer in the CL/Europa. Does this still remain the case or should I be concerned? Thanks

That was my impression too, but that match has already been pulled from FPL for GW29. I still think it could be put back in, and has a better chance to be played in GW29, but it certainly won't play on the day it was originally scheduled.

the man city blank as well as the united blank have to do with a couple factors

      a) when the clubs want to reschedule the games (doesn't have to be within that same gw)
      b) whether or not UEFA says it can be played on a midweek with CL games
      c) TV broadcasting (applies to the united game but not the city game I believe)
