Scout League entrants continue to push for the top prize in the Sky Sports game, with Pascal Evans’ twin assault on the top prize now in full swing. We doff our caps to the leading runners and riders, examine the latest movements in the game’s transfer market and look ahead to the latest episode of the show that brings Fantasy Football to our TV screens…

The Scout League

Pascal Evans’ reign at the top of the Scout League continues as he stretches his legs and gains an eight-point advantage over Simon Davis’ “Nags Head Rovers” in second. What’s extraordinary about Evans’ consistency this term is that both his teams are now in our top six, behind the likes of Lewis Nicklen, Chris Pearce and Paul McAnulty – all former leaders.

Evans’ “Covport2” now sits in fourth in the overall standings but the gap to the top has narrowed, somewhat – he is now just 73 points behind in the race for the £25k top prize. Given his momentum right now, you wouldn’t bet against him closing further in the coming weeks.

With Evans’ two entries amongst the eight teams in the top 20, the Scout League is just over 15 points ahead in the Private League rankings.

In terms of the contributors, my Sky Sports campaign has been boosted of late, lifting me into the top 200 with a 35th spot ranking in the Scout League, to make me the current leading contributor on 1480 points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Robin Van Persie’s goal and assist returns in the win over Everton were enough to reinstate him in the Fantasy thinking, ensuring that the Dutchman has been the most transferred in player this week. Almost 37% of transfers have involved the acquisition of Van Persie, following several weeks where we’ve seen the trend lean the other way after he produced a couple of blanks. Indeed, there were still almost 20% of transfers made this week that saw Van Persie sold on, although it’s clear that confidence has been restored somewhat following the haul against the Toffees. Van Persie remains within 47% of squads in this game.

Luis Suarez has felt the pinch in terms of ownership ahead of Liverpool’s blank Gameweek. Despite fetching handsome returns in the rout of Swansea last time out, the Uruguayan has been party to 40% of the transfers out made this week. While 26% of transfers have seen Suarez acquired, there’s a clear loss of ownership in evidence, with the trade back to Van Persie seemingly a popular route.

Significantly, however, based on form over the last four Gameweeks, Suarez remains strong: he has scored 30 points over that period in the Sky Sports game, a total only matched amongst the forwards by Wayne Rooney. Daniel Sturridge lies fifth in those form rankings, with 23 points from his last four Gameweeks – a factor which is perhaps convincing Suarez owners to cash in. With 20.5 points per million, however, Suarez remains the top value striker in the game.

Mirroring trends in the Fantasy Premier League game, Gareth Bale has attracted plenty of interest from Sky Sports managers, with over 16% of transfers in seeing the Welshman signed up in the last seven days – more than any other midfielder. Surprisingly, Bale’s ownership is still simmering at just about the 15% mark. Bale is the most in-form player in the game based on the last four Gameweeks – collecting no less than 36 points in that spell, four points ahead of Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Batten down the hatches: midfield bad boy, Lee Bowyer, is the latest signing for the Fantasy Football Club. He’ll be joining Fenners and Merse in the changing room for tonight’s show at 10pm on Sky Sports One. A reminder that, if you miss the show this evening, you can view a repeat on Sky Sports Two at 9am the following morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

feel good about having XI starting w/o using my 1 FT this gw, unless demel doesnt start.

So, drop GJ for a long term defender choice, maybe a toon?

or drop demel for wilson and hope for the best?

or use the .3 in my bank to bring in Bunn, who would replace....(cough, cough) Lee Nicholls, then start Bunn over Guzan and cross my fingers i can get away with demel starting; sturridge, GJ and michu benched.

none of these moves have much chance to make a giant impact. i can see it likely that if i dropped GJ or demel, their respective replacements would only net a 2 point profit. thinking its time to address my 2nd keeper, who was brought in during Jan WC to squeeze as much cash as I could into my outfield. Any Ruddy news beyond "out indefinitely"?

    Thoughts?

If you dont think transfer will have an impact bigger than 4 pts then dont do it!

If you can hold on to it for a couple of weeks then that FT should be worth considerably more than 4 pts down the road with dgws en route

i agree, i keep telling myself at the start of the season not to fiddle with keepers, just lock in two and lay off. But the Guzan/Nicholls combo is downright embarrassing. and im on a good run otherwise. what if i promise to make this my last keeper transfer?

Thought I'd share my thoughts on my transfers this week, as it seems many are in a similar position.

    Begovic (3.9)

Clyne - Harte - Demel (Davies, Johnson)

Mata - Walcott - Bale - Fellaini (Michu)

    RVP(c) - (Suarez, Sturridge)

Suarez -> Lambert already with my FT. Really rate Lambert, will happily keep and play him for the rest of the season. Want to hold onto Michu/Davies/GJ - have 10 playing including Demel. Not getting Demel out as taking hits for defenders are never great, and hopefully 5th def won't matter much beyond this week.

So now considering (for a hit) Sturridge ->

    A) Giroud (c) - really fancy his chances against Villa. Would likely be a short-term punt due to the blank, switching back to Suarez/Sturridge later. This is my current choice - just feel he's most likely to repay the 4pts immediately, and he's the only one of these options that I'd happily captain this week over RVP.

    B) Cisse - great fixtures, so could keep for rest of season if he hits some form, especially with no blanks - frees up transfers elsewhere. Form isn't great, and points might get shared around with Newcastle's midfield.

    C) Aguero - great player, will be key to any chance City still has in the league. Reckon he'll outscore A or B over the rest of the season. Much more expensive.

A-C would move me towards a 3-4-3, downgrading Fellaini later (blank GW.) Also have enough value to get back either Suarez/Sturridge later. OR:

    D) Pog - decent fixtures through blanks, makes benching decision much easier in other weeks. Massive savings allows me to strengthen defence. Still, pretty sure I'd rather have (even slightly) better attackers and a bench headache.

I'm as stuck as you are this week, still have Suarez & Sturridge, Have Punch so not sure on Lambert, was set on Aguero but this blank GW has changed my mind again and i'm not sure if i can trust A or B

      I have a similar team...

      Begovic (Bunn)
      Clyne O'Brien Pearce (Enrique Rangel)
Walcott (c) Fellaini Lampard Marveux (Guzman)
      RVP Aguero (Sturridge)

      I'm edging towards either Guzman > Cabaye/Sissoko.
Mainly as it would help fielding more of a side in gw29 & have a feeling Newc will start picking up a few points with half decent fixtures & the midfield will prosper a fair bit IMO

      Good luck pal

Seen them play a few times, play football the right way. Point I'm making is its easy to mock smaller clubs in hard times, when you support priviliged teams. Even though I was desperate for QPr to stay up last season I took no joy in others going down. There will be 3 club relegated next season at it will be horrible for the fans.

I know, and going for someone over RVP when I was in doubt has bitten me once already this season, but I've been on Walcott all week, and I'd feel like I was bottling it.

😀 It started in mine a couple of hours ago, but when I go for RVP, Walcott and Bale are sat across the room from me, winking and showing a bit of thigh, sticking pins in pictures of Brad Guzan and Jussi Jaaskelainen.

That might be more to do with these pills though.

      Nice rank.

I've lost track of the general consensus. People seem to be willing as many games as possible to take part in GW29 and are convinced it'll happen as it's what they want. You're best off planning for 6 games that week for now and saving a FT if possible.

Well I can't afford Aguero without getting a cheap defender, Wilson is the one I want. Anichebe may not play, same goes for Wilson so I don't know who will start for me.

My bigger concern is bringing in another plarey with a potential blank in 29.

I may just do GJ->Wilson and play both Wilson and Anichebe, with no subs, potentially leaving me 9 players this week.

"Crime is not a uniquely Neapolitan phenomenon. Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto'o had their homes burgled in Milan, while Christian Vieri and Lucio were duped into handing over their car keys to fake valets. Juan, Gabriel Heinze and Christian Panucci have been robbed at different times in Rome. Leonardo Bonucci had a gun pointed at him in Turin earlier this season, though he responded by landing a series of punches on his assailant".

Liking the Vieri and Lucio fake valet stories. Don't even think about pulling a gun on Bonucci though. He'll have you.
