Scout League entrants continue to push for the top prize in the Sky Sports game, with Pascal Evansโ€™ twin assault on the top prize now in full swing. We doff our caps to the leading runners and riders, examine the latest movements in the gameโ€™s transfer market and look ahead to the latest episode of the show that brings Fantasy Football to our TV screensโ€ฆ

The Scout League

Pascal Evansโ€™ reign at the top of the Scout League continues as he stretches his legs and gains an eight-point advantage over Simon Davisโ€™ โ€œNags Head Roversโ€ in second. Whatโ€™s extraordinary about Evansโ€™ consistency this term is that both his teams are now in our top six, behind the likes of Lewis Nicklen, Chris Pearce and Paul McAnulty โ€“ all former leaders.

Evansโ€™ โ€œCovport2โ€ now sits in fourth in the overall standings but the gap to the top has narrowed, somewhat – he is now just 73 points behind in the race for the ยฃ25k top prize. Given his momentum right now, you wouldnโ€™t bet against him closing further in the coming weeks.

With Evansโ€™ two entries amongst the eight teams in the top 20, the Scout League is just over 15 points ahead in the Private League rankings.

In terms of the contributors, my Sky Sports campaign has been boosted of late, lifting me into the top 200 with a 35th spot ranking in the Scout League, to make me the current leading contributor on 1480 points.

A reminder that if youโ€™re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth ยฃ600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Robin Van Persieโ€™s goal and assist returns in the win over Everton were enough to reinstate him in the Fantasy thinking, ensuring that the Dutchman has been the most transferred in player this week. Almost 37% of transfers have involved the acquisition of Van Persie, following several weeks where weโ€™ve seen the trend lean the other way after he produced a couple of blanks. Indeed, there were still almost 20% of transfers made this week that saw Van Persie sold on, although itโ€™s clear that confidence has been restored somewhat following the haul against the Toffees. Van Persie remains within 47% of squads in this game.

Luis Suarez has felt the pinch in terms of ownership ahead of Liverpoolโ€™s blank Gameweek. Despite fetching handsome returns in the rout of Swansea last time out, the Uruguayan has been party to 40% of the transfers out made this week. While 26% of transfers have seen Suarez acquired, thereโ€™s a clear loss of ownership in evidence, with the trade back to Van Persie seemingly a popular route.

Significantly, however, based on form over the last four Gameweeks, Suarez remains strong: he has scored 30 points over that period in the Sky Sports game, a total only matched amongst the forwards by Wayne Rooney. Daniel Sturridge lies fifth in those form rankings, with 23 points from his last four Gameweeks โ€“ a factor which is perhaps convincing Suarez owners to cash in. With 20.5 points per million, however, Suarez remains the top value striker in the game.

Mirroring trends in the Fantasy Premier League game, Gareth Bale has attracted plenty of interest from Sky Sports managers, with over 16% of transfers in seeing the Welshman signed up in the last seven days โ€“ more than any other midfielder. Surprisingly, Baleโ€™s ownership is still simmering at just about the 15% mark. Bale is the most in-form player in the game based on the last four Gameweeks โ€“ collecting no less than 36 points in that spell, four points ahead of Newcastleโ€™s Moussa Sissoko.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Batten down the hatches: midfield bad boy, Lee Bowyer, is the latest signing for the Fantasy Football Club. Heโ€™ll be joining Fenners and Merse in the changing room for tonightโ€™s show at 10pm on Sky Sports One. A reminder that, if you miss the show this evening, you can view a repeat on Sky Sports Two at 9am the following morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I was thinking about that. He's down to 8.0 now and he's cup-tied. Risky, especially with good value elsewhere in that range, but I think even more upside than most comparables.

For those split between who to stick between the posts.. Bunn or Begovic, the bookies have given Stoke slightly better chances of a CS than Norwich. The 2 I checked:
    Stoke: 13/5 + 5/2
    Norwich: 3/1 + 11/4

This of course not taking into account save points, which Bunn could very well win, if they both concede.

It's certainly extremely close between the 2. So much so, I'd be basing the decision on other things such as who you feel your rival(s) will pick, who do you have on the opposing teams (backup if they do naff all - Fellaini for instance), are you playing a Norwich/Stoke defender? If you are, do you spread the risk or go for broke.

I was doing that until I took the lead in the ML. It's hotting up again, I'll take a peek at the chasing pack ๐Ÿ˜€

The craziest example of sod's law was in UCL fantasy. I had two defenders from someone like Galatasaray and they went into stoppage time with a clean sheet. I quickly bet on a goal in the remaining minutes (got odds of something like 5/1) and it duly arrived.

Tricky to know what to make of the Newcastle v Southampton game. On one level, it looks like there's going to be chances - Newcastle and Southampton are ranked 13th and 12th for shots in box conceded and 17th and 16th for goals conceded. They are both firmly midtable for shots in box and goals scored however. Also it's fair to say Southampton's defence has tightened up a lot - and under Pochettino they press like demons, this might be one of the toughest games yet for France.

I think people are being overly hesitant to use their wildcard this week.
Sure, there will be some major dgws coming up, but they are supposed to be used when your team is in a mess and clearly everyone's is!
Also, gives an opportunity to rid yourself of those with a blank coming up.

A West Ham fan was on here earlier (sorry, no link or grav so I don't remember the name, maybe Gav?) and said he expects Demel to play. Seeing that O'Brien and McCartnery are both back in training, I am not that optimistic. Anyone else have any further insight?

People are saying that just to please themselves. Demel doesn't get a chance when so many injured. You expect him to start when McCartney, O'Brien, Collins, Reid, Tomkins and Pogateyz are all available?

I actually said i expect him to start but not to get many points.

Since Demel is a right back and Collins, Reid, Tomkins are centre backs, McCartney and Pogatez left sided and O'Brien a utility player there isnt that much competition for him.

Demel has always been the same, injury prone. He was last season as continues to be this season. He'll miss games here and there such as Swansea without any notice. He'd be a pain to own.

    To (C) Walcott or RVP?

I know this mustve been asked a lot round these parts ๐Ÿ˜‰ but my gut says that QPR'll keep it tight vs United the next game.

Walcott's been consistent enough to be considered a worty (C) choice isn't he? I'm just worried about Arsenal's form.

Then can Gardner shift to the other side and play LB? Or Bramble perhaps? Sure only conceding 5 goals in 5 games since he was gone with two clean sheets means they haven't missed Cueller too much, but he's definitely better than Bramble.
