Wayne Rooney may have been ruled out by most following Sir Alex Ferguson’s Thursday press conference but today he’s back in training and may yet come into the reckoning for the Loftus Road trip. United’s title rivals, City, are forced to check on the fitness of both Vincent Kompany and Gareth Barry for their clash with Chelsea, according to Roberto Mancini.
Meanwhile, down in the capital, Joey O’Brien, George McCartney and James Collins are all back in training for West Ham ahead of Monday’s home match with Tottenham. Loic Remy has trained for QPR over the last couple of days and “looks okay” ahead of United’s visit, revealed Harry Redknapp earlier this morning. The forward will continue to be assessed, though, with the R’s boss still undecided whether to field him.
Back up North and Danny Rose is ruled out with a hamstring injury for Sunderland, while skipper Lee Cattermole is unlikely to recover from a knee problem in time for the trip to West Brom. Alan Pardew remains hopeful that Tim Krul will be available for Newcastle’s home clash with Southampton. The Magpies keeper faces a scan on his ankle, though, after picking up a problem in last night’s Europa League win over Metalist.
Victor Anichebe remains ”a bit of a doubt” for Everton’s trip to Norwich, though Seamus Coleman may come into contention for the Toffees after returning to training. The home side will check on both Alex Tettey and Andrew Surman ahead of the Toffees visit.
