It’s been a while since we took a tenner from our wallets and paid visit to our friends at Paddy Power. A fortnight ago we were denied winnings by Bobby Zamora’s solitary strike after Michu had delivered on his side of our betting bargain. Undeterred by that setback, we’re at Paddy’s door again to examine the Scout Pick inspired markets for the Gameweek ahead…

Theo Walcott simply had to feature in this week’s bets. The Arsenal winger has run Robin Van Persie close all week in the Captain’s Poll and goes into the home clash with Villa well fancied to add to his already impressive 11-goal tally this term. Paddy are also showing confidence in the fleet-footed attacker, offering 16/5 on a Walcott anytime goal with a Gunners clean sheet. While we’re right behind Theo, we’ve got concerns on the Arsenal back four against the menace of Christian Benteke, so we’ll place a cautious £3 on this one.

The next market looks more up our street. Romelu Lukaku was inspired form when he was unleashed from the bench in the 2-0 win at Anfield last time out and, with a rest beckoning for Gameweek 28 against his parent club Chelsea, the big Belgian will surely be set free to torment the Black Cats at the Hawthorns this weekend. Paddy are dangling 6/1 on a Lukaku strike with a West Brom clean sheet against Sunderland – we’ll throw another £3 their way on that one.

Moussa Sissoko has been a revelation over his three matches for the Magpies and is another who goes into the weekend programme heavily backed for returns. Newcastle face Southampton at St James’ Park on Sunday: a crucial game for both sides. We expect that Sissoko will, once again, be played up behind Papiss Cisse to lead the charge on the Saints goal and, with two strikes to his name already, Paddy’s odds of 11/1 on a Sissoko goal with a Newcastle clean sheet look encouraging. We’ll wager another couple of quid on this one.

That leaves just a single pound to spend on Paddy’s regular treble market, which this week includes a potential fourth consecutive strike from Gareth Bale at West Ham. Paddy are dangling 18/1 on a Bale goal at Upton Park on Monday night, with a Walcott assist against Villa and a United clean sheet against QPR.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Ditch Fabio for whom (hv 4.2 m & 1 FT) ?
    A) Turner (Double up on Norwich)
    B) Wilson (Double up on Stoke)
    C) Mariappa (Double up on Reading, lol !)
    D) Onuoha (for Long term, maybe, good fixtures after this)
    E) Sit tight, play only 10 players & save the FT.
    F) Any Other (Damn, dont hv too many options do I !)

(Consider this, Also hv Bego, Bunn, Zaba, Davies, Harte , Clyne)

Always the bottom of the page... REPOST!

Can just field XI if Demel plays. Tempted to get him out for JEvans for a hit? Like Evans’ fixtures going forward, both blank in 29 so no difference there, and Demel may well not play.

    Thoughts?

I think the chances of Demel playing are remote with O'Brien and McCartney both back.

Combined with JEvans fixtures going forwards, and the probability that MUN's GW29 game gets rescheduled to the midweek of GW29 (i.e. no blank), I'm gonna say, do it.

There's not much in it imo, but I went for RVP based on him being:

          1) On pens
          2) Playing the most advanced position for the highest scoring team in the league
          3) Playing a team who are rock bottom, and have conceeded the most chances in the box in the last 6 weeks.

Am also a little worried about Arsenal's confidence after the Blackburn and Bayern defeats.

Not sure why this matters, given either Demel and JEvans both play or bot don't. And I'll still have two frees ahead of that regardless of whether I take this hit or not.

Not Demel vs Evans. More like Evans vs (defender w/o possible GW29 blank).

Ah IC, you basically asking to take a hit for a one week play. If you assume Demel zero, then Evans needs 4. It's 50/50 to me.

Well, it's long term too, but I should manage XI in 29 unless I get unlucky with injuries. Have 9 already, and two frees.

I don't think Marveaux or Demel will start, but hoping Marveuax gets some minutes. With 0.0m in the bank, I can't see any transfers that warrant a hit, except for maybe ditching Sturridge, who I see as a decent long term hold.

Replied to you above. I'd do it.

Nah, wouldn't lose Studge. Davies is potentially expendable (can see Swansea having a post-Cup win slump), but the fact he plays in 29 means it is worth hanging onto him for now.

The decision of winning this ML vs long term is driving me nuts. Leading monthly ML by 10 points and season ML by 20 points...

    Ddg (bunn)
    harte onouha cueller xxx (davies)
    fellaini maloney wally bale (michu)
    rvp xxx (sturridge)

    have 1FT and 18m.

A: baines + giroud....will have a good team for this week and a good team for next week. do 2FT's in gw29. possible risk of fielding 10 players in gw29 depending on city-wigan game decision

B: debuchy + giroud...decent team this week but a crappy defense next gw. will do giroud >> augero next gw

C: baines + cisse...decent team this week but cisse is a punt..def overpriced compared to dsissoko who i was planning to bring in gw29. good team for next week

D: debuchy + augero...safest option...but with krul out and scared of arsenal going crazy and defense is crappy next week.

wilson is a gamble to bring in this week, norwich i think will concede. wba might keep a cs but i have cueller in the hope sland win.

Well, I planned that already. Dzeko played 90 mins in recently games 2013. With no Europe Mancini won't rotate his squad anymore which mean Dzeko - Aguero are his starting 11 for now. For GW 29 i will selll him again for Benteke. That's what im going to do if i get Lambert I will sell him too in GW29.

Has anyone ever tried to add up the Scout Pick's points? How do they do in retrospect?

Not sure of answer but not great this year compared to previous years. Too many wild picks that get benched, then there's the 4 strikers which makes any auto sub calculation not valid.

I hear ya. Have they ever said if they set rules for themselves? E.g. only allow a certain budget etc. It's not purely who they think the highest scorers will be for sure, since there are some budget guys always in there along w/ some select punts.

All I know the basically do a roundtable and hash out the picks.

Hope someone else can answer those points so I'll not do any guesswork.

Personally I'd prefer them to ignore price altogether and stick their necks out on top scoring teams. Most transfers people not on WC plan to do are for expensive players in their position, getting the most in there should be the goal. Budgets... I just want to keep them unless I have nothing else to do, which is rarely.

Maybe they should change from a team formation to instead top scoring in various buckets. E.g. 1 expensive nailed on mid, 1 budget mid, 1 punt

Do one for each position. Might be more helpful. But I dunno. Whatevs. I was just more curious than anything

I think each Scout Pick article should score the previous week's picks and keep a running total. No captain to account for the lack of restrictions on choice of team

      I think I have finally made a decision....what u guys reckon?

      Ddg (bunn)
      Onouha cueller Harte debauchy (Davies)
      Wally bale fellaini Maloney (michu)
      Rvp grioud (sturridge)

This will be if I do GJ + Suarez >> debauchy + grioud. Will leave me wit 5m in the bank 😯

Gw28: grioud >> augero if city game goes ahead.

I could also bring in cisse to spread the risk as I already have Wally. I could also bring in Baines over debauchy as a two week punt but think that might be risky as it will leave me with only 11 for gw29
