With four of the league’s top five teams enjoying a future date with a double Gameweek, flexibility is going to be key in the next month; finding room for a budget option or two becomes as important as ever.

With Raheem Sterling now “rested” to make way for more senior heads at Anfield and Jason Puncheon dropped for two of the last three Gameweeks, the pool of cheap midfielders has taken a hit of late, giving us every incentive to go on the hunt for new options.

One name that has quietly re-emerged of late is Wigan’s Shaun Maloney – a promising option who looked set to find himself in these pages earlier in the year, only to be inexplicably benched for Jordi Gomez after his hattrick in Gameweek 13 (Gomez followed that ICT index score of 33 with a total of 37 over the next 15 weeks).

Cheers. In that case, Spurs, since they have some relatively tricky fixtures coming up so should use them as one of the better teams for an easy-ish fixture while you can (if that's appropriate logic to apply?)

And look further ahead. To play last man standing well you really should have in mind all of your picks (or at least look 3 or 4 weeks ahead) so you don't get stuck in a week where the only decent team left happens to have a tough fixture.

Why didn't he book Torres? Did the official behind the goal punch Torres in the face for asking why he didn't signal for a penalty?

Have him myself, and it's very difficult to say when there's no travelling involved between the two games. If this had been an away leg I would have said he was unlikely to start,

I have a good first defensive sub, so I'll be keeping. I would say he's still slightly over 50% to start - he's been played in all Rafa's easy home games so far.
