Everton’s penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea this afternoon -more on this game and other fixtures to come in the Cup Notes to follow- means they have duly qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup. Congratulations to them.

More importantly for Fantasy Managers, this now means that the previously reported fixture upheaval has been avoided. With Chelsea now out of the FA Cup, their (already once postponed) fixture at home to Manchester United will stay in place and be played out on the evening of Tuesday March 1. United now keep their double fixture in gameweek 28 as a result, with an away trip to Wigan next weekend, followed by the Stamford Bridge clash days later.

Most will have probably predicted, planned and expected Chelsea to come out their fourth round replay as victors and see this double gameweek nullified; Fantasy Managers now need to prepare for United’s double, while Chelsea are back in the gameweek hat having dodged involvement in the dreaded “blank gameweek”.

Everton’s progress to the fifth round has no impact on their fixtures right now. They will play out their fifth round tie with Reading on March 1 – this will not disrupt their double fixture in gameweek 29 (new&BIR).

Don 't think there's much point bringing in 3 united players for their double gw. yes, they should beat wigan comfortably, but does anyone agree that they'll be involved in a low scoring game v chelsea? i can see chelsea winning that 1-0 or so...

Questions for the fantasy cricket players if I may. Should we change our captain for every match? Do we then retain the double points from our previous captain?

Is it the same with transfers. I think it is just wanted to make sure.

No you only retain the double points if you leave the (c) on.
Same with transfers, if you bin them then you lose the points. I've changed my (c) from Tendulkar to Sehwag now to see if I'd get him as (c). Doubt the game would be that daft though but worth a shot. 🙂

The bit about transferring players is
The points scored by a player will be credited to your team total only until the point he is retained in the team. You will not score that player's points obtained after he is sold, nor will you gain the points scored by the incoming player before being brought into your team.

Trying to find the captain bit hold on...

But if that's the case you would have to keep your captain for the whole group phase, I don't see it, there are not easily defined gameweeks... I have a feeling we retain the points.

Pretty sure you won't get those Sehwag points, unlucky.

So Rooney or Berbatov. Prob only time this year il want Rooney cos he should play 2 games. But then maybe he will play away in France and be rested for Wigan away 3 days later.

Early prediction. Rooney starts Cl, Berbatov Wigan, Rooney Chelsea

Cant see Fergie playing him in all the games. May just go for Berbatov who should pick up more in Wigan game and then hold him for the season there after.

3 away games in a week. 2 of the most important so far and Wigan in the middle. I can see a bench start at Wigan. Its 3 days after Marseille away where Wayne will prob be alone in 4 5 1 uptop and then isnt Chelsea away the following midweek? so 4 days to Chelsea away.

Wigan in the middle seems perfect time if he were to rest him and play Hernandez.

Its these games that he needs Rooney's work rate.

I am certain he will play all three, I dont fancy United to do much away at Chelsea though. I actually think it could be a 1-0 win for the boys in blue

I dont know. 90min alone uptop probably and flight back from Marseille to start away Wigan then 3 days later away again alone uptop most likely at Chelsea.

If he were to be benched Wigan away looks perfect time.

Big Wayne is more consistent than Berbs, and since he plays more games, he'll score better.

From GW 24, Rooney has scored better than Berbatov.

This is immediate form we're talking about, and he's definitely more consistent.

More to the point, Rooney starts vs the top teams. Berba won't vs Chelsea. If he does it would completely go against fergies usual top 4 tactics.

Pretty worrying stuff for us Berbatov owners.

Not that I'm in position to question Fergie's tactics really but I don't understand why Berbatov would be such a bad choice against the top sides.

Almost every poor United game I've watched this season have been when they've played that 451 variation.

Really? It works so well against the top teams. We've drawn and beaten City (albeit changing to 442 for the last 15mins) and beaten Arsenal. When we did play 442 against a (then) weak liverpool team we almost lost, even though Berba scored a hat trick.

I can see your point though, as Vs Chelsea in the Charity Shield a 442 worked a treat. Still, can't see him playing anything other than 451 at the bridge.

Me neither, I expect Berba to be axed. Took the gamble this gameweek and backed my idea that Berba is a good choice against big sides at home and would score, but obviously it backfired.

Still can't really sell him with a double coming up. Lose-lose.

Personally, the United game vs Chelsea shouldn't make that much difference. I don't think it will be a high scoring game, but think there's every chance both will concede.

It's a very small bonus, but wouldn't potentially wreck your side to accomodate more United players - They have Liverpool at Anfield the game after, which won't be easy now Liverpool have improved under Kenny.

I'm probably still going to bin Berb for Tevez. I have Nani & Vidic, plus the guy I'm having has Tevez, and he's been killing me nearly every Citeh Home match.

Yes, was worried everton dgw would have been ruined and as I've already brought cahill in that would have been a diaster! Planned on bringing in berbatov anyway this gw and while he isn't as an attractive prospect as rooney still 2 games better than one

No doubt Chelsea players did same to them when they kept beating them before

Anyone going without an Arsenal Midifielder home to Sunderland week 30? The only one who offers any potential of playing the 90min or evening starting in the first place is Arshavin. as Barca away is 3 days later.

He did it last year(Wenger) when they were in a worse state and had last chance of going through. I may just risk it with RVP, Djourou and not get Arsenal mid until Barce game is finished unless I take a punt on Arshavin for week or 2.

He played a strong team before Barca match and think he still has one eye on the Prem title, so think he'll be more positive and play them all.

ill still play fabs + rvp and expect them to play. if he takes them off early so what chances are they willhave done damage early.

So if you don't lose the points then would it be worth selling Tendulkar and Sehwag for say a NZ and Sri Lanka player?
Then get in the two Indian players for their nice little run Mar 6-12th?
They should have broke up the group stage a little better, this really just favours the nerdish tinkerers more than the casuals. I'm going to have to up my game.

It's madness, far too much micro-management needed. I did the Ashes one, which worked well, but all this talk of tickers and spreadsheets is a bit much for me. Especially as the tournament doesn't get exciting for another month...
