Everton’s penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea this afternoon -more on this game and other fixtures to come in the Cup Notes to follow- means they have duly qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup. Congratulations to them.

More importantly for Fantasy Managers, this now means that the previously reported fixture upheaval has been avoided. With Chelsea now out of the FA Cup, their (already once postponed) fixture at home to Manchester United will stay in place and be played out on the evening of Tuesday March 1. United now keep their double fixture in gameweek 28 as a result, with an away trip to Wigan next weekend, followed by the Stamford Bridge clash days later.

Most will have probably predicted, planned and expected Chelsea to come out their fourth round replay as victors and see this double gameweek nullified; Fantasy Managers now need to prepare for United’s double, while Chelsea are back in the gameweek hat having dodged involvement in the dreaded “blank gameweek”.

Everton’s progress to the fifth round has no impact on their fixtures right now. They will play out their fifth round tie with Reading on March 1 – this will not disrupt their double fixture in gameweek 29 (new&BIR).

    Anyone else not going to change things drastically for the Utd double? Might just stick with Nani after all.

      I may get a defender but not getting rid of RVP or Tevez, may downgrade Fabs a lot though and get Rooney or Berbs in as third striker but will probably just go with Nani and possibly a defender

        im tempted by a 4 pointer -

        Odemwingie -> Rooney
        Fabregas -> Cahill
        VDV -> Arteta

        Or could just do

        Fabregas -> Arteta
        Odemwingie -> Rooney

        For free.

        Very tempting

    370 - Crawley made more passes tonight than six of the 14 sides to play against Man Utd at Old Trafford in the PL this season. Credit.

          yes it is obvious, obvious that the comparison of crawleys performance agaisnt those of PL sides based on number of passes utterly pointless...
          Still credit to them, they probably deserved a draw.

      Maybe Giggs but it's really not worth bringing another midfielder in. They may get rotated and not only that it's really only Nani that brings home the bacon

        You are probably right. All this week I have been planning on buying Cahill ready for the Eve DGW29, with an easy GW28 in advance. But, watching United just now made me think of doubling Man U players for GW28 then transferring to Cahill for GW29...just a thought...

    I have to move out a player as im playing 10 next week otherwise, and I have Arshavin so a straight swap for Cahill seems perfect....

        Downing is in the same situation, great fixtures but off-form. The only thing in downing's favor is slightly better team form. However Everton did just knock out Chelsea, so I would go for Cahill. But frankly I wouldn't go for either if I had the choice. I don't think they'll deliver.

    Had a cheeky look at the player ratings on goal.com for united/crawley. I don't think I've ever, ever seen a lower rating than the 3.0 Bebe received. Anyone watch the game and able to tell me just how bad he really was? Cheers

    If the Chelsea v Man U game stays on, this is FANTASTIC news.

    Instead of it being a straight fight between people who planned for GW28, and people who hardly plan at all (like me), the waters have been thoroughly muddied as to how many players we will all end up having. 🙂

    Here I was prepared to go into GW28 with just 10 players, but now that ManU has a DGW one could bring in a player for a 4 point hit and still potentially have a profit. So here's a few questions:

    1. Which one of O'Shea or Smalling are more likely to play both games?

    2. Is Giggs worth a punt?

    3. Would I be better off getting 3 Everton players and 2 ManU than 3 ManU and 2 Everton players?

          The voice of reason.

          The lad is bound to have ups and downs, but is undoubtedly a supreme talent and has settled well all things considered.

          Key to this is his excellent English (if you've seen interviews it is impressive). Considering I listen to Tevez rying to grunt his way though a few verbs most weeks from the better part of Manchester this is to Hernandez's credit.

          All in all a very capable bloke. Going places. (Citeh :))
