Reports in the Daily Mail have stated that Tim Cahill is a “major” doubt for Everton’s Goodison clash with Sunderland this weekend. The Aussie midfielder was withdrawn on 70 minutes of Sunday’s FA Cup victory at Stamford Bridge after aggravating the injury and, according to the report, David Moyes will now need to assess his availability going into Saturday’s game.

Cahill picked the ankle injury whilst on international duty with the Socceroos in the Asia Cup in Qatar. The knock was one of several suffered by Cahill during the tournament, although he overcame all of his niggles to play his part for the Aussies. It could be that the rigours of the Socceroos schedule are now being felt, casting doubt over his involvement in Everton’s forthcoming favourable run of fixtures.

This is far from ideal for Fantasy Managers; Cahill was firmly in our thoughts for gameweek 29 given that Everton face a double fixture against Newcastle and Birmingham. With Sunderland at Goodison this weekend, many would have been contemplating an early move for Cahill in advance of the double gameweek.

Cahill’s 9 goals and 4 assists have played a vital part in a disappointing season for the Toffees and although the Aussie has not scored in his last five appearances, he will surely be a key figure over Everton’s run of four home matches in the next five.

For now, Cahill remains on our watchlists; Fantasy Managers can only wait for official confirmation of the injury from the club itself and monitor noises coming from Goodison as we approach the weekend. We will of course keep you posted via our Tweets and Team News.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Surely if Cahill is out all those lovely crosses from Baines will be aimed at the man with the hair, so worth a punt?

Just had a look through the 'Team News' section of the site.

Man Utd have Park as out, and in the starting line-up.

Is he likely to start, or is he actually out?

    Thanks for any responses 🙂

i think he will play since mancini is under pressure to win some trophy this season and he only played 30 mins. against notts county...
i'm also thinking of captaining him,not too many good options for captain apart from tevez.

Nene had two assists for PSG at the weekend and they are at home, so not an awful choice, and I am tempted by Eriksen who scored in Europa and again scored at the weekend for Ajax, only 4.7 and I needed a replacement for Hamsik.

What to do with my midfield?

I need to ditch one of Van der Vaart/Fabregas to cover blanks in DW28.

    Questions:

    1. Who to ditch?
VDV seems the obvious choice, but the problem is I bought him at 8.4 and he now costs 9.0. If he recovers and hits form again and I want him back, I'm losing money.

    2. Who to get in?
I was going to get Cahill, but given how suspect his play has looked, how fatigued he's looked, and this possible injury, I shan't. So who's the choice? Meireles? Dempsey? Downing?

If this link works it should be a comparative heatmap between Arteta and Fellaini based on passing from the Bolton game.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/47mJ762696Y35n241zRE

Arteta achieved 88% pass completion from 60 passes
Fellaini achieved 72% pass completion from 58 passes.

As you can [hopefully see] Arteta achieved a higher proportion of his passes in the oppositions half, whereas Fellaini was deeper.

Arteta had 1 shot (on target)
Fellani had 2 shots (1 off target 1 blocked)

So as most thought, Arteta is a better attacking option based on the stats of just that one game. Bear in mind though that it was an away fixture so Fellaini may have been in a more defensive role than usual.

Will be all stupid to repeat the same mistake for the third time? I had him in my initial squad. I brought him after instead of Cahill. Now third time????? I can not make me to it. I watched the Che game yeah he was more attacking but so what.

I like the way, rather than indicating your unsurety of the object in question, you first ask if it is a plane, and then reiterate your question.

Is it a bird? Is it a sparrow or a finch? Does it have feathers and a beak? Hmm. In all probability, it is likely not a bird.

you make a fair point, however the cricket threads are simply taking over. If it was the occasional one that would be ok but there are loads of them. I enjoy cricket, I also enjoy when FPL is slow talking about other topics (pancake recipes for example or why my cat doesnt meow very often) however it is slighty over the top at the moment in my opinion.

I'd like a separate thread for it to be honest. But I find it annoying that there has been more moaning about the posts than the posts actually deserve. There are a decent number of people who are interested (the World Cup has JUST started), it doesn't take much effort to go past them and there has been hardly any FPL this week.
I think it is incredibly mean spirited on some peoples behalf.

Why doesn't someone do some football trivia?

I'd be quite happy to talk about the good old days of American football, or video games.

really? I fluppin' well loved that game, think it was on early PC, C:/Programs/Prince.exe

The days and weeks I got out of that game, and the sequal was better looking and more of the same.

Best game of all time for me, Monkey Island 2, again, prettier than the original, everything about the original still intact, and progession of story, ending is awesome too. The Godfather 2 of gaming.

I've got both on the 360, and finally completed 1 last year (after about 15 years), but I can't seem to get into 2.

Price of Persia, I wasn't very good at the swordfights back then. I might have to load it up.

I've heard there's a new Dizzy coming out on the 360.

Quasimodo is sat in his study and once again is feeling depressed about how ugly he is. Looking for some reassurance, he goes in search of Esmerelda. When he finds her he asks her once again if he really is the ugliest man alive.

Esmerelda sighs and says "Look, why don't you go upstairs and ask the magic mirror who is the ugliest man alive? The mirror will answer your question once and for all"

About five minutes later a very pleased looking Quasimodo bounced back back the stairs and gave Esmerelda a great big hug.

"Well it worked" Quasmido beamed, "But who on earth is Iain Dowie?"
