Mikel Arteta has undoubtedly been one of the biggest disappointments of our Fantasy season. So often the silky creator in the Everton engine room, a Bonus Point darling to rival even compatriot Cesc Fabregas, Arteta has so far failed to turn his prompting and probing into Fantasy returns, registering just a single assist and a three goal return in 22 league starts.

Significantly, his Fantasy season has not been rescued by a consistent flow of Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points. Arteta has gathered just 14 over the season so far, and no Bonus has come his way since gameweek 14.

And yet, with Tim Cahill a reported injury doubt for Everton’s weekend fixture with Sunderland, Fantasy Managers are on alert and hunting for new attacking options within the Everton midfield ahead of their kind run of opponents and double fixture in gameweek 29. Arteta is possibly back on the menu; reason enough for us to offer our Members a closer look to see how Arteta has fared in recent weeks and how he compares to another key option in the Everton midfield – Marouane Fellaini.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Pretty much the same situation as most people, but some advice appreciated.

    Begovic
    Kolarov - Coleman - Rafael - Jara
    Nani - N'Zogbia
    Tevez - Odemwingie - Berbatov

    Foster - Fabregas - Djourou - VDV - Adam

Have 2 free transfers, 0.6 in the bank.
Would lose too much on VDV/Adam so looking to keep them long term.

    Thoughts?

Saha or Baines is a tough call for me. You could see both do well or pull a few 1,2,2, gameweeks in a row.

Im actually annoyed United have a dgw as it means the temptation to bring in a 3rd United player is always a consideration. If it werent I could have taken a punt on Saha.
Im currently considering getting Begovic, Barton & Berbatov.
Think il keep Fabs & Djourou and get RVP back when he is certain to play.

I think Fabs is safe to play and I wouldnt lose him. RVP i wanted to keep but looks pretty hard to do so with the Sunderland game only 3days before Barcelona.

Id rather 45min of Fabregas to 180min of Frank currently until fixtures fix up abit.

Are you still getting a United forward? Im trying to decide whether to double up on defence with VDS (I have no keeper this week) or sell RVP for Berbatov and maybe get Begovic.

I dont really fancy United to score many until Bolton at home where i would sell Tevez for him

taking a hit i need to sort my team out so im covered longterm so altho frank and torres may be better options from gwk32 im bringing them in now as have other transfers planned around that time

Good article. Of these two I'd still go Arteta myself. Class is permanent and all that - it's only a matter of time til Miky decides to start getting in and around the box a bit more.

I need this sort of analysis on Bily! He's played every game since Pienaar went. I just think he's a better player than Fellaini myself and I'd rather go for him - but want to get a good estimate on how many minutes he'll get next three games. If he starts playing full games I think he'll score nicely. Who keeps coming on for him around the 60 -70 minute mark?!

If Cahill is out then Fellaini might be a decent option, will always be up for corners and free's and a good delivery from Baines or Arteta = points.

I take from that that Jonas was jealous of Andy's ponytail and purposefully scuppered all crosses as a result. Now that he is the only one with a ponytail, he is the main man and is crossing like goodo, but Coloccini is now jealous of the Jonas brother being number one, and is avoiding Jonas' side of the pitch completely with passes from defence.

I could be way off though.

So, DGW madness is upon us again this week and next week.

We are all thinking of stocking up on both 1-2 United players and 1,2 or 3 Evertonians for the next few weeks it seems. The unpredictable nature of this season makes planning for doubles even harder this time around, for instance: Newcastle, two clean sheets in the their two DGW games, even the staunchest of Geordie fans (Bum) would not have backed two clean sheets, and maybe not even one on current form, but they did.

Everton are in a bit of a slump, more than a bit probably, but they will be buoyed by that result against Chelsea, so while form is not quite on their side, this season, and the law of DGW's almost dictates that the team you expect to do nothing, will be the team that do everything. See Wolves DGW last season with Stephen Hunt, Stoke's DGW last year with Matty Etherington, and Newcastle's most recent DGW where the likes of Danny Simpson (who got out on WC :)) cleaned up.

There are no hard and fast rules obviously, but the simple fact of the matter is that with DGW's going for over a week and a bit sometimes, the form book goes out the window, and a good early result in the first DGW game, can lead to increased odds of better returns in the second game. Everton are usually a solid outfit, I am going for two of Coleman/Cahill/Fellaini and Saha.

As for United, I believe the pitch WILL NOT be relayed in advance of the game with Wigan at the DW, as I first thought:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/wigan_athletic/8528147.stm

Therefore, we are looking at a slugfest, where United will be relying on Giggs' and Nani to provide to the deliveries at set piece time. Chelsea on the other hand, I see a few goals for United in this one, so I am backing Rooney, Giggs and Nani for the double week, and see where the chips fall.

Just my random thoughts on the matter.

I really don't see a few goals for United against Chelsea. I bet that will be a 0-0, or a 1-0 in someone's favour, probably coming in 90+ minutes. That being said, I don't think I can afford to go into this week with just Nani playing twice. I'm sure my rivals will all have at least two United players.

got serious issues re fielding many ppl this week...
is it worth potentially taking a 12 pt (!) hit to do:

    Murphy (brum) > Walker
    Adam > Barton
    VdV > Cahill
    Torres > Tevez

think each can add 4 pts of value... and all medium to long-term keeps... am I crazy?!

Well 3 of those players will be getting 0 points this weekend, Torres has potential but Tevez has better fixtures.

Definitely worth a 12 point hit this week, all people (bar Barton who is on 8 yellow cards) are good medium term options, and with alot of people being forced to take hits this week anyway, I don't think you will feel it in the rankings as much as you might another week.

      Just Do it.
