Mikel Arteta has undoubtedly been one of the biggest disappointments of our Fantasy season. So often the silky creator in the Everton engine room, a Bonus Point darling to rival even compatriot Cesc Fabregas, Arteta has so far failed to turn his prompting and probing into Fantasy returns, registering just a single assist and a three goal return in 22 league starts.

Significantly, his Fantasy season has not been rescued by a consistent flow of Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points. Arteta has gathered just 14 over the season so far, and no Bonus has come his way since gameweek 14.

And yet, with Tim Cahill a reported injury doubt for Everton’s weekend fixture with Sunderland, Fantasy Managers are on alert and hunting for new attacking options within the Everton midfield ahead of their kind run of opponents and double fixture in gameweek 29. Arteta is possibly back on the menu; reason enough for us to offer our Members a closer look to see how Arteta has fared in recent weeks and how he compares to another key option in the Everton midfield – Marouane Fellaini.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can only field the below suspect 8 this week and have 1 free transfer.

    Coleman, Rafael, Kelly, Bosingwa
    Nani, A Young
    Tevez, Wingie
(Foster, Stockdale, Djourou, Fabs, VDV, Adam, RVP)
    Bank 0.5m

    Plan:
    GW28: Stockdale & Fabs -> VDS & Cahill (4 point hit)
    GW29: Wingie & Rafael -> Saha & Carr (4 point hit)

Seem decent? Any better options for me? Thanks

Just running through Arsenal's fixtures there. They play the cup final this weekend and then Orient at home next mid week where you would expect a second string to finish them off. Assuming the likes of Fabs, RVP play the cup final if they do not play at home to Sunderland then it will be 10 days of no games most likely (assuming they dont start at home to orient which as above shouldnt happen after cup final).
So in saying this il make a bold prediction that Fabs and RVP will play the cup final, rested midweek and also start at home to Sunderland prior to Barcelona away. Get the win and be subbed off early.

I cant see him resting them at home to Sunderland and not having them play a game for 10days prior to going to Camp Nou. Its more in Arsenal's favour to give them some minutes home to Sunderland rather than 10 days off. I reckon il take the risk and hold my Arsenal players for now.
If people consider the likes of Nasri, Arshavin, Bendtner getting games ahead of Cesc and RVP then surely home to Orient gives plenty of opportunity to play the back up. Cant see two games in a row where he plays the second or a mix of a second 11 and then goes to Barcelona with little or no football in the first teams legs.

yeah okay- so your going to hold onto your arsenal players for now- because of the fact you can't see them getting rested in the coming gameweeks.

But what about this week- surely having 8/9 players will cancel out any advantage you gain from keeping hold of your arsenal players for later

I can field 11 and bench 3 Arsenal players for a 4 point hit.

I just think people are trying to speculate too much in order to justify spending points to field a team this week that Arsenal wont play a full team for weeks.

Is anybody put off transferring out players because you've made such a large profit off them? For example, I'm reluctant to transfer out RVP and Adam because I paid 9.7 for RVP and now he's 10.4, while I paid 5.4 for Adam and now he's worth 6.

But that's the issue, being able to afford them when I want to get back in. I'll most likely get rid of RVP because of injury and rotation, but I'm reluctant to get rid of Adam. Hrrr...

So Adam is worth 5.7 to you now? (As he is to me) He'll get red-flagged, drop both weeks and be back at 5.8 or there abouts by the time you want him back anyway.

I agree mate. Im keeping Adam, and quite happy with bench for 2 weeks (although 11 players would ne nice this week!)

RVP slightly different, purely on value Id not keep him, there are plenty of other options. But for now he has to stay on footballing grounds too!

I would not double up on United strikers no, the fixtures are not that kind that there will be loads of goals.

Fabregas OUT Young IN - Yes
Adam OUT Cahill IN I would do then, think you have funds for that, and you have a full team for the week!

I presume I have been slow on the uptake, but where i am thinking of spending 4 points on getting rid of Odemwingie this week, it seems to me that he only likes scoring at home, and he is away to Stoke, a resolute defense at the Britannia, makes the decision to ship all the more easier

I should have done some research too. Stupidly did it after (and I genuinely mean immediately after) I transferred him, so had to swap to Shoaib wasting a transfer.

It just never crossed my mind that Ajmal wouldn't play, he's been quality every time I've ever seen him play.

Shambles for me, Hafeez(c) was woeful with the bat and got spanked around with the ball... thanks god he at least took a wicket. The less said about Shehzad's effort the better. Gul was ok in the end I guess.

LOL, just seen his 2nd wicket and the +20 points I will pick in the Telegraph game for his economy (my captain as well)! He had to bowl a minimum of 4 overs as well to get the bonus points as well, ha!

Strong...there's an argument that, unless you're tipping Blackburn for a cleanie at Villa, Al Habsi makes more sense in terms of Save Points. I see both Villa and United scoring 2 at most but United may well have more efforts. No Newcastle attacking coverage - I'd be tempted by Barton or Best if you have the trannie spare.

yeh no newcastle was a bit of a worry but taken a 4 point hit.

i see your point about alhabsi but dont actually think utd will have many chances due to the pitch.

think i have a good chance of poins this week and meriles out next

to be honest, Vidic is the only safe United defender that I can see, might be easier to choose another tomorrow after tonight's CL game

It has changed because he clearly has the propensity to get injured and O'Shea is in good form and is a better option for the bigger attacking players. I think he will play tonight, be rested against Wigan and play against Chelsea as he will match up favourably against Malouda and Cole for pace.

United have options at both RB and LB with Smalling deputising together with Brown at CB, O'Shea is now back in contention with Rafael for RB, which I think will now be rotated amongst the two for the rest of the season barring injury.

If you have to get one of them in now it has to be Torres given his record against Vidic. Personally I wouldn't.

the problem i have is that i really want rooney nani and berbatov for gwks 30-34, i also want torres and lampard for gwks 32-35

then there is gyans run of fixtures from gwk32 to consider aswell but how can i get rid of bent when his fixtures are so nice

fook knows what im guna do

I think there's no need to get Berba, who will just play one game. I'd get rid of Defoe, Adam and RVP/Fabs which is a 8 point hit. Options to get in are Barton and Rooney + a third player (what about silva as you have enough EVE coverage?)

            i have barton already

definitely taking a 12point hit as i want to field 11, just need to make sure i make the hit worthwhile so i dont then need to take hits in a few weeks

My bad, then maybe another cheapie (Jarvis). Don't think -12p is a good idea as I bet on a low scoring week, but it's your call.

My dreamteam is in tatters! I have to take a four point hit just to field 11 and even then two or three of that 11 are doubts through injury and rotation and some of the remaining players that definitely are playing are shite bench fodder who id rather not play.

The only consolation is that almost everyone is in the same boat. I'm tempted to only make a free transfer, call this week a write off and then concentrate on the week after.
