Premier League Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list is now published and available for our perusal. We’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day, with the aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.

Jose Mourinho’s second stint as Chelsea boss opens with a home game against Hull before the Blues make their way to Old Trafford in David Moyes’ first home match in charge of Man United. Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge clash with Aston Villa, scheduled for Gameweek 3, has been postponed due to European Super Cup duties – if this is moved to Gameweek 1, major investment will be on the cards from Fantasy managers.

Moyes opens his tenure with a trip to Swansea and also squares up to Liverpool at Anfield in the first month – a tricky start for the defending champions, who also entertain neighbours City in Gameweek 5. City’s opening three matches look enticing, though. Manuel Pellegrini welcomes Newcastle to the Etihad in his first game in charge before City face back-to-back matches with a couple of promoted sides – a trip to Cardiff precedes a home showdown with Hull.

Roberto Martinez’s first three games in charge at Everton suggest the Toffees could be quick out the blocks. Trips to Norwich and Cardiff, with a home match against West Brom, will afford plenty optimism from the blue half of Merseyside, while Liverpool have also been handed a decent start, aside from the home game with United.

The likes of Southampton, Spurs and West Ham all look strong investment options over the opening six Gameweeks, though Villa and Swansea have been dealt a blow. Paul Lambert’s side face Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City in the first six, while Michael Laudrup’s men go head-to-head with United, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal.

We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a “Frisking the Fixtures” piece rolled out soon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I agree, they're not really experienced when it comes to these extra fixtures and drains performance levels from fatigue etc. (look at what happened to Newcastle and Stoke) (although with Stoke they always seem to be struggling 😉 )

newcastle, sunderland, west ham, stoke have a pretty nice 4 way defender rotation. i've worked it out here:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiIgkb7euD-9dHZqZWVBM01iWjhveGRpSHgya0VFTUE#gid=4

green means you'd play them in that fixture
white means you have a couple options who to play that week
red means don't play them in that fixture

        why's that?

get 1 big def and then rotate 4 others around him. i think it's better to look at a 4 way rotation then two sets of rotating pairs, plus it makes it easier to swap in and out one defender as you know which weeks you need a good fixture based on the fixtures of the other 3

No idea, but he's going to be the first name on my team sheet and the rest will be be built around him. He takes so many shots, and his long range shooting is fantastic, so no reason to think his form will drop THAT much. May not be quite as ridiculous, but he'll still bring home plenty of points.

andy caroll on a 100 k a week, could cost hammers a total of 55 m when all is said and done.

if this is the kind of player english football still reveres is it any wonder the national sides , at both senior and u21, struggle every time a major tournament comes around?

Easy to criticise Caroll because he wasn't a success at Pool and the transfer fee was so big but when he was in form at Newcastle he was almost unplayable. He could do very well for West Ham.

English Premium. Zaha cost more than Cazorla. Agree with SW6 though he's perfect for WHU and Sam's second ball tactics.

Can't really compare those 2 because of the age difference. Zaha is bought into as a potentially better player in the future than Cazorla is now.

It wasn't meant as a comparison but I know what you're saying. You pay more for English is all. It's ridiculous though and imo, the reason the national side will always struggle. Players on money that big won't give a toss.

People are saying Liverpool have taken a £20m loss on Carroll, but this isn't the whole story.

He was on their books for 2.5 seasons out of a 5.5 season contract, so around £16m of his signing cost would have been amortised already, leaving a book value of £19m and an accounting loss of 'only' £4m.

I might try a no RVP experiment to begin with, fixtures aren't great.

may be a necessary when Chelsea's double is confirmed.

I think the choice will come down to RVP or Bale to start, not both.

Both will really limit the rest of the team, especially when Arsenal Liverpool and Man City all have good opening fixtures. So too does Baines.

Yep, its likely to be one or the other. Aguero & Silva' price should help us decide.

          Looks expensive:

          5.0 4.5
          5.5 6.5 4.5 4.5 4.5
          12.0 9.0 6.5 9.0 5.0
          7.0 13.5 11.5

          Total 108.5

Yep, as I mentioned above I think many will get to this point and the decision will have to come down to RVP or Bale, not both. RVP or Bale for a cheapie and suddenly the team shapes up a bit.

Not looked properly but Aguero, Carroll and Coutinho look like certs given the likely prices and early fixtures.

Nastasic, Bale, Coutinho, Carroll, Sturridge, Aguero and Hazard. Hoping I can fit them all in. Will likely use WC in 3rd or 4th week
