The results for the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in. As expected, 256 Fantasy Managers are through to the second round, and 256 are not. You can check out each and every result right here. For a brief round-up of some of the key fixtures, read on…

The highest aggregate scoring tie of the round was beeduybe‘s 87 – 76 win over houghmagandie. That fantastic score of 87 cannot be matched by any of the other competitors, and that earns beeduybe a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. With a score of 76, houghmagandie has the misfortune of being the highest-scoring Fantasy Manager to be knocked out this round.

With slightly more fortune this week, RishiS had one of the lowest scores of the round but still progressed, as he edged out R2Carroll 39 – 38 in a remarkably low-scoring tie.

The wooden spoon award for the week goes to Fin, who looks like he’s had the worst week of his Fantasy career in his 54 – 24 loss to jamlove. The scars from this heavy loss will take a while to heal, as he plummets from the top 16k to a six-figure ranking.

That massive win for jamlove wasn’t the widest margin of victory in the round however, it was Jenno99‘s 73 – 27 crushing of SiKick, putting a whopping 46 points between them.

There were 14 ties won by a single point, including Mark‘s match against tippman. Going into the Monday night game with a comfortable lead and a player remaining, it was almost unfathomable that Mark would not progress. However with Chris Samba costing him two points on the night, and Kevin Davies being stripped of his assist, Mark, incredibly, ended up losing. Unlucky.

Unable to separate themselves over the weekend, eight Fantasy Managers had their cup fate decided on overall rank. Peter, Pieman, john_crichton and melj79 eliminated Lew, Scratch, garrydoherty84 and ini to xav as a result of their superior ranking.

Our former champions both powered through to round two with convincing wins. FFS Cup I winner donnellyc dispatched billywhizz 69 – 58, and FFS Cup II champion Jonty proved being good is better than being lucky as he thrashed Lucky_2010 61 – 43.

The number of contributors left in the competition has halved to three. Mark (see above), greek fan (chipsngravey 64 – 41) and I’m Not Marshal Foch (Twisted Saltergater 72 – 69) all bit the dust this week, leaving just myself (emperikal 64 – 50), Pure Olivia (acrascall 71 – 67) and Granville (Bob 82 – 54) flying the flag.

Elsewhere, in some of the fixtures I highlighted in the round one draw, Waldaz saw off JamsieP 51 – 44, alang eliminated Dick Fran Dyke 69 – 64 in a competitive fixture, and greghammer95 hammered The Sting 73 – 55.

Two Fantasy Managers that weren’t expecting to be part of the second round were Roger C and TorresMagic, but after their opponents broke team entry rules they have both been given a passage into the next round at their expense.

So congratulations to the 256 fantasy mangers in the hat for round two, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The draw for the second round will be made and published on the site tomorrow.

def captaining the drogs, only got 55pts last week, it was actually my defence that sucked b*lls. waiting to see how fab does this gw, then I'm thinking of doing Tevez-> Obinna and Barton -> Fab. I'm not to confident regarding that move as Barton has been pretty steady so far, might go straight Malouda - Fab as seems the popular choice.

    INTERESTING FACT

Victor Obinna OF WEST HAM has had more shots than any other player in the Premier League this season (20) without scoring.

Have just been looking into this player , he is young , keen and talented. He also has a good scoring record in his career . Hes not going to keep missing for much longer , and with west ham having easier games to come and generally improving , he looks a good cheap option imo

Have you watched the games? I have.

He looks VERY dangerous in one-on-one situations w/ his pace and dribbling but unfortunately his shooting is VERY poor.

There is a reason he has missed so many - he doesn't have great shooting boots.

Lots of his efforts have landed closer to the corner flag than the goal.

That said, I think he'll be able to beat a man and get in the box and score sooner rather than later.

Yaya Toure to Brunt worth a 4 pointer?

I would play him this weekend in this formation -

    Foster
Elmohamady, Alex (if fit, if not Coleman), Konchesky
    Fabs, Malouda, Nani, Bale, Brunt
    Drogba, Berbatov

well he's done nowt this season points wise really and Brunt's price has already risen, so I can only afford him by selling Yaya, who may well price drop

I only won by a point and only cause my opponent took a 4 point hit

64-63(67-4) the difference was bales assist. For once I'm happy with a fpl decision

Looks like it was possibly the same person with two teams? They had identical scores every week which looks a bit suspect, and would've won the £25 bet this week (with a score of 88) if they'd just been honest!

As the guy who got 76, I can tell you I'm felling pretty sorry for myself. As we both had Robinson and Elmo playing on Monday, the Blackpool - Man City match was fairly gripping - he had Tevez and I had Adam!

        Unlucky houghmagandie.
On another day those two Tevez goals would have been disallowed and it could have gone either way.
N'Zogbia's 15 point haul was massive for me. Not many others have him in their team.

Nice to see you made it through the Cup Tommy. You see Rooney's recent statements regarding his reasons for not signing a new contract just yet? I think it's going to add more fuel to the burning fire of the Glazers issue if we lose someone like Rooney because he doesn't see us attracting world class players, since we can no longer afford them.

I've just got both (needed to free up some cash for ACole this week and possibly Fabs next week. Of the two I think Adam will score more points over the season, but Brunts lovely run of fixtures over the next 6 wks made him the pick over NZog. All three are great value - you need to jump to around 8mill for a much better option.

Is this squad a bit too midfield heavy?

    Foster, Krul
P Jones, Mummy, Coleman, Williamson, Jara
    Fabs, Malouda, Nani, Arteta, VDV
    Tevez, Berbs, Jarvis

looks awesome I'd say. Only problem is it would be hard to bench anyone from that mid, meaning it would be 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 every gw bar injuries.

I'm too upset..the only reason I even tied was due to the 0-0 on Monday..and my opponent have Samba. I think overall rank is more important than the Cup!

    3-4-3 with Odemwingie (if fit)

    OR

    3-5-2 with Etherington

I fancy Etherington to do well since the Utd turmoil but having said that if 'Wingie is back he could hit form again against Fulham...

I'm amazed that E.D. is backing Rooney. Given that he's always preaching about modern footballers being mercenaries

I think im certain Dunphy now has alot of ill feeling about United. He always puts himself against the club.

Must of been cos he was released from United.
