Our pre-season projections and Rate My Team tool are almost ready to go live in the Members Area. Over the past week we’ve seen a number of significant signings, notably at the Etihad, that have delayed our first set of numbers but, with the market seemingly settled for 24-hours, we’re now very close to going live with both, albeit with perhaps a big Gareth Bale caveat on the way.

Once again this season, the projections are based on the Rate My Team statistical model, developed by “Professor†Chris Atkinson, who some of you may have got to know via last season’s ScoutCast.

The Rate My Team model is built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has an attack and defence rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

In the next day or so we will be publishing full projections for every Premier League player, plotting their total points, goals, assists etc for the entire season. These will include short-term projections offering a view of the opening six Gameweeks.

The projection tables will be fully sortable and you can assess FPL points per million value to help you run the rule over those crucial budget purchases.

In addition to the Projections, the full Rate My Team tool will also be going live shortly.

This can be used in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. It includes a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also be used to build a team from scratch, analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers.

The “Professor†and I will be creating some new movies explaining how the Projections and Rate My Team work in the next few days. Look out for them over the weekend and into next week.

A reminder that memberships for the coming season, giving you access to both the projections and Rate My Team tool, along with many other features, are available for the pre-season price of £12.50. Click here for further details, including an array of preview movies to demonstrate what’s on offer.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Chelsea and City top 3 players who you think will score the most points at the end of the season. (current squads)

    Chelsea: 1 Hazard. 2. Mata. 3. Lampard

Thanks for that Demi. I was under the impression that Rogers was only interested in cover at LB and another quality player up front. Is there any quotes or evidence of Rogers going after a CB though? Although looking at their squad they could probably do with another CB at least for cover.

Papadupoulos would be a certain starter for sure. They will need 4 solid CB's for the start of the season it would be interesting if they just go for cover or get a big name as the article suggests.

Demi, will this be your first response to me? I love all your wonderful info you put forward. As a massive Liverpool fan, what players do you think Rogers is referring to, re players who lacked effort? He hasn't really got rid of anyone un-productive but I am very happy with the signings and am looking forward to potential newcomers, especially if we get an out and out scorer and a top centre half. I heard that a left back is on the list for back up, but I think that's to create competition as I reckon Enrique is doing an up-standing job.

Can't see the quote about him saying players lacked effort in the article. I would have no idea about that though. Yeah you need another central defender i think and probably a target man. Think selling Suarez would be a good deal for £40m. Can do so much with that money, and you won't suddenly decline if he left. Can remember you playing well, winning games on the bounce when he got suspended. You're apparently getting Cissokho as LB cover on loan. Don't think Enrique is all that myself so would good for him in terms of competition like you say.

What he said was "over paid players who weren't contributing". I took that as a lack of effort but maybe misinterpreted.

Money aside - as we disagree on that point 😉 - why would 'Pool sell their striker to their direct (they would hope/aspire to) competitor?

Regardless of who 'Pool picked up with the cash, that transfer would solidify Arsenal's hold on 4th and prevent 'Pool from moving into there.

I don't think the bid for Suarez is real - and if it is, it will never happen, imo.

Team selection, easier. As with Bale on Tot he's the obvious - if financially painful - choice to make for Tot 'cover.'

But, with Bale leaving, it makes selecting a player from Tot much, much harder.

A shrewd piece of business, seeing Boswinga on the verge of leaving, is important for the club. Redknapp is trying to create a new culture, whilst trying to remove the present one. Also pleases me that the club has learnt from its many mistakes, and acted upon it. Its fast becoming a well managed football club. Simpson, Dunne and Henry that fans may take to. Hooper would be a great signing. I reckon in a few years 5mil for him will have been a bargain.

A or B? please help me decide

    A) Mertesaker | O'Shea | Bale | Snodgrass | Bony
    B) Kompany | Collins | Silva | Kagawa | Sturridge

    (Kagawa only if rooney leaves)

thoughts and alternatives appreciated. thanks guys

Aright mate, I would go for A....I'm worried about sturridge being made of glass and how often he'll actually be available (technically ge's injured now and hasn't got a proper pre-season in.) Also I have a good feeling Bony will settle well. I know the Dutch league isn't the prem but he's strong, powerful, great in the air and 31 in 30 last season in the league shows consistency...and a good eye for goal. And then there's bale who needs no intro. Defo A for me mate! Good luck!

No worries! I've had a close eye on him too. Looks the business although the Dutch keepers do look a bit ropey too! I'm sure I'll end up with him at the start of the season at the minute I'm considering holding back a couple of weeks...I made a post a couple of posts below this one...if you coukd have a look and give me your advice I'd be really grateful! Cheers!

It's a shame that during negotions teams dont have the option of docking points from transfers. Like if Bale would go to Utd part of the package would be Tottenham guaranteeing a 10 point deduction at the start of the season. Make things interesting.

It would be legal fixing. It would have the same result and the PL would resemble La Liga.

With Eric on this, can't really understand it. At most you could push for a Tottenham walk over in one of their league fixtures but don't think you can let all the other clubs benefit from United purchasing a big player. If that was the case no team would sign big players...

    Would truly appreciate feedback!

Going into second season... did well in my league despite signing up on deadline day and picking a team I thought would do alright on Fifa! Hoping to come out too this time!

As it stands I'm thinking of going with this...

Is this daft? Leaving 3 mill in the bank?!

    Boruc
    Shaw, Turner (norwhich), Connolly
    Cout, Wally, Haz, Nolan
    Kone, RVP, JRod

    Marshall, Thomas, Chester, Parr.

I was tempted by a silva/michu over Nolan perhaps or Bony or Sturridge instead of kone or JRod or even Bale in for Wally or Haz.

I'm thinking go with this and see how the first 2 game weeks + at least I can react accordingly with 2FT and 3 mill...

Any thoughts/advice to this approach...am I being mental. Does anyone else do this?!

    Nice one boys...can't wait...roll on the 17th!

Pretty strong team considering you have 3m in the bank still.
i like the idea but personally i'd be to tempted to spend the spare cash and improve it.
I'm all about focusing on the first 3 weeks and using my wildcard early.

its a bold move which could pay off but like i say i'd spend and strengthen rather than risk a slow start

Hmm not a bad strategy either with the early wild card...I think you're right though I may compromise and just stick Bony in for JRod and keep a mill for a rainy day! Thsnks for your advice mate! Appreciated!

Sturridge had the best shooting stats for any striker in the PL at the end of last season when fit and playing(if you like looking at stats for your decisions). Though to say how he will handle the injury, but he should do well with the slighltly improved team.

Pretty sick team. Obviously if you were prepared to lose bale or RVP then you could improve elsewhere but it looks pretty safe apart from the potential risk of Anelka and lamps being rested same GW. That would be pretty shit...but you should be OK! I might nick your team haha! What you think if my crazy scheme...leave 3 mill in the bank and see what happens in first few gw's and react with 2FT and the said 3mill:

      Boruc

      Turner (norwhich), Connolly, Shaw
      Cout, Wally, Haz, Nolan
      Kone, RVP, JRod

      Marshall, Thomas, Chester, Parr

Not usually one to post a RMT but I'm quite liking this. Thoughts pls?

    Mig _ 4.0
    Coleman _ Toure _ Baines _ Clyne _ Chester
    Bale _ Kagawa _ Walcott _ Thomas _ Pozuelo
    Negredo _ Lukaku _ Giroud

Lampard > Kagawa if fit and Rooney stays at Utd
Baines likely to be the highest scoring player at 7.5m
    Coleman if RWB

    4-3-3 / 3-4-3

That Baines-Coleman combo is dreadful selection, no offense.

      Coleman > Collins

Thomas AND Pozuelo sounds too weak in the mid. Get rid of one after downgrading Lukaku

2 OOP defenders why you hating, though I agree that 2 from is probably too much from one team

It does kind of sound that way doesn't it! 🙂 ... but i didn't mean it. I think they are both good picks in their own right but like i said below i wouldn't be that comfortable owning the two of them at the same time.

Perhaps Baines > cheapie defender &
Thomas/Pozuelo > Mirallas or better MID?

        Cheers for the feedback.

Coleman is only in if Martinez goes 343 and he's RWB, otherwise he becomes a 4.5m like you suggest.

Thomas + Pozuelo are bench warmers as I fancy Clyne to offer more value. Can't see value in budget mids until the 5.5m price point (Dembele), and that's a stretch! I'd like Lallana at 6m, but would mean Lukaku becomes Anelka or similar.

Coleman and collins should be in everyone's team at this point in paired with one more half decent chap... i.e kolo or a chelsea def and 2 4.0ers

Don't get the blinkers on Baines if he stays at Everton.

??? Show me a 7.5m mid who will outscore him?

Got to agree with Nate. Not a fan of your Everton fever. Get off to a good start, they are away.

I think both Baines and Coleman will easily hold their own this season in FPL points but i wouldn't be that comfortable having the 2 of them myself.

    My attacking lineup:

    Bale Kagawa Mirallas Silva

    Aguero Berbatov Lukaku

Is it worth doing Aguero to Negredo so i can fund Mirallas to Coutinho?

Love Mirallas but Baines likely to score more points than him at the same price.

      YEEEESSSS!
Negredo will be a beast. I watch more La Liga than PL as there is more on SKY. I love that beast. Coutinho will be one of the best players this year, i have watched him for a long time and he is now in his perfect team with his perfect manager.

Hey guys, first look at the Fantasy this season. Some tough calls out there. I'm not sold on not having Walcott in my team, but hey, it's a first draft. Any comments would be helpful

      Turner Jagielka Mertesacker
      Colback Bale Hazard Nolan
      Giroud Rodriuez RVP

Negredo unlikely to start every game, I am not a cout fan at his price- would not double up on LIV attack. Maybe find extra 0.5 for mert to a CHE or City def

We will have to agree to disagree on negredo.

As for other things, i don't want a balanced side as long as it means i win FPL

Silva, Jovetic, Aguero will start, Navas probably too. I dont see where negredo fits for every game. Id say he will play as much as Balo did
