Our pre-season projections and Rate My Team tool are almost ready to go live in the Members Area. Over the past week we’ve seen a number of significant signings, notably at the Etihad, that have delayed our first set of numbers but, with the market seemingly settled for 24-hours, we’re now very close to going live with both, albeit with perhaps a big Gareth Bale caveat on the way.

Once again this season, the projections are based on the Rate My Team statistical model, developed by “Professor” Chris Atkinson, who some of you may have got to know via last season’s ScoutCast.

The Rate My Team model is built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has an attack and defence rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

In the next day or so we will be publishing full projections for every Premier League player, plotting their total points, goals, assists etc for the entire season. These will include short-term projections offering a view of the opening six Gameweeks.

The projection tables will be fully sortable and you can assess FPL points per million value to help you run the rule over those crucial budget purchases.

In addition to the Projections, the full Rate My Team tool will also be going live shortly.

This can be used in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. It includes a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also be used to build a team from scratch, analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers.

The “Professor” and I will be creating some new movies explaining how the Projections and Rate My Team work in the next few days. Look out for them over the weekend and into next week.

A reminder that memberships for the coming season, giving you access to both the projections and Rate My Team tool, along with many other features, are available for the pre-season price of £12.50. Click here for further details, including an array of preview movies to demonstrate what’s on offer.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Hello.

Firstly I'd like to ask, is Luiz essential? Or are you assuming a DGW? If you're not assuming a DGW I'd recommend Mertesacker or Koscielny since Vermaelen is unlikely to start the season.

This money you save could possibly enable you to upgrade Koren into a decent sub, unless you're super confident of him as a first sub. Otherwise, I don't really have complaints about this team. What do you think of running Cornelius up front instead of Berba, and then upgrade Koren into something like a Nolan or a differential like Shelvey/Duff/Giaccherini?

Regarding Arsenal coverage, you can try Berba to Giroud and Luiz to Mert.

Yes I am a Berba fan. I'm preferring Giroud's consistency in taking shots at least over Berba's, as Berba historically is more of a flat track bully rather than a "big game" player. I know he scored 2 against Arsenal but that was about it last season, the rest have been against mid table or lower sides.

Also, Lambert's opponents in the first half of the season can't be ignored. They're just too sweet. Berba's fixtures are better than Lambert's just after the GW11 international break, where Lambert runs into Arsenal and Chelsea while Berba plays Swansea and West Ham.

Bony/Fletcher is a different issue I feel. Once again, regarding strikers you might have a different opinion in terms of when to bring in a striker. I like using Form as an indicator. If you're looking at strikers to bring in, I'd rather look at form than fixtures at that point.

So for me, it doesn't matter whether who it is.

In terms of Aggy, I have no thoughts. Will be having 0 City and observing, selling one of my mids to bring City players in

Nah he's not in my GW1 plans.

I see the CS potential, I just feel that I can outscore that CS with money invested elsewhere.

In my draft team atm, I only have Cornelius as my promoted side player.

Mmm yes Gayle is certainly up there.

The thing I like about Cornelius is that you can potentiall downgrade him SOME MORE into Gayle or even Maynard (although I doubt that will happen) to save more funds. Just a thought anyway. A lot better than the 4.5 and 5.0 mids, and to a stretch the 5.5 mids

Yes I agree on the Koren set piece potential. I'm just wondering how often he'd come on you see. If you believe that Hull are going to rely on set pieces to score, then yes keep him. Otherwise, OoPs in a promoted side generally don't do very well if i recall correctly...

Cornelius I find more interesting than Koren due to Cardiff's attacking potential. I agree that he might not be used to the English game, but for the amount of money you pay you would expect him to stay on the bench anyway. I'd rather have your differential play every game with Cornelius coming on if he shows form. I'd also trust strikers to catch fire more likely than a set piece taker, unless he's Graham Alexander of course 😛

Ya that is possible. I mean just possible. It's entirely my opinion that

              1) I don't touch anyone that isn't 110%

              2) Any players in teams with new managers are not 110% unless there are direct quotes (such as Mourinho on Luiz).

              3) Cornelius is a punt. Keep in mind that I have Cornelius but I'm playing everyone else in my front 7

They are in a search for a LB. It's definitely much lower priority than a striker, but it's there.

BAE was highly inconsistent last season, and they are looking for someone superior in that position replacing him altogether.

If Madrid has bid you think he would go but.... Perhaps he wants to stay in the Uk.

He has absolutely no attacking threat so you'd be relying on clean sheets. For Alcaraz to come in, Everton have to play 3 at the back with wingbacks, a completely new system for Everton and I'd expect them to have a bit of teething trouble getting into the swing of it.

I'm going to splash the extra £0.5m on Coleman who should be looking to get plenty of assists with clean sheets as a bonus.

If you splash out on Arsenal and Liverpool defenders, you don't want to rotate them. You play them week in, week out, especially with their early fixtures. Arsenal got 9 of their 13 clean sheets away from home last season.

    Just in.

A Spanish based newspaper has announced the arrival of a brand new signing Jesus... Christ!!

Florentino Perez told this newspaper. "It was a very easy piece of business, after all who doesn't want to come to Real Madrid? We don't really have a list of targets, they come to us. That's how great we are, sometimes I wonder why doesn't Blattrr just give us control of Fifa? Then we could stop all this rubbish and just hand over every trophy to this glorious club. Anyway we look forward to working with Jesus but if he doesn't work out its fine, will just have to go out and pick any player we want. Toodaloo mother *******"

If man city thought they are above offering him to Real Madrid then they will call upon the heavens and the blue side of Manchester would witness it's judgement day.

    Q. If Arsenal were to sign Julio Cesar would this make you more or less inclined to invest in the attractively priced Arsenal defence?

Having seen a lot of Cesar last year down at South Africa Road and several seasons of Sczesny on TV I'd say Cesar is by far the better shot stopper but far less able to deal with crosses, especially those around the 6 yard box.

for me it would improve their defence. He won a treble at Inter, has generally been excellent for Brazil. Had a slight slump but still vastly superior to Szczesny

Depends what price he comes in at. If it is 5.0m or less then he could be a great pick. Only problem is competition with Scezny.

Fulham have withdrawn from bidding for Aston Villa's Darren Bent, this has now paved the way for the London born striker to join Newcastle.
Darrent Bent will be a Newcastle striker by this time next week 😀

Assuming Bale leaves, i tinkered a bit and saw that i without Bale, i can swap the following players:

Bale, Kone, Lambert and a 4m def, > Luiz, Silva, Rod, Sturridge.

Now i'm thinking it might be better not have Bale and go for the second option even if he stays. Thoughts?

    Cheers.

That's the thing, yeah. It's a question of the improvements you could make without him Vs having him. My team is strong in every single position without him, but still not seeing him on the team sheet is painful. Head scratcher.

Perhaps you can resolve this head scratcher if you focus on the captain points. This is IMO the greatest differential by far in the fantasy game: Good Captain Selection. Sure you can field a great team without either RvP or Bale; but who will you trust to deliver the double game points week in and week out? Based on the last half of the past season I cannot avoid the conclusion that Bale is truly indispensable this season in FFL (unless of course he is off to the entertain the patrons of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium).

    Hey guys,

I am new to this and want to do well in my first season.

I see that some people manage to do very well every season, top 2,000 every year. what is thw trick?

Do you have any tips on how to structure team and how to play the game over the season that will help me finish on the top 2,000?

Pick the combination of players who score the most points and captain your highest scorer every week. It's as simple as that. Everything else is just a complication.

Are you new to this game or new to this forum? How come we get a new Katie every year 🙂

Stick to the common line of thought, they're usually right. Don't go different just to vary your team from others. And Too many differentials and your season will collapse. Hurts to give this advice but most often true.

Btw is that a picture of Nina Dobrev from VD?

I still wasn't convinced about JRod over Lambert since they have a similar goal record, so I decided to look at the stats.

If you're still not sure and you're a member, filter the strikers stats fot GWs 30-38 (relatively arbitrary) and then click on "shots in the box" and "shots on target". I was quite surprised!

Snodgrass, he's cheaper and has set pieces. Nolan might struggle without Carroll, and frankly, Snodgrass is cheap for his quality.

Pozuelo looks like being similar to Routledge and Dwyer, so he could have a good chance to fit into that midfield later in the season. Might be used as a sub early, but he could be like Sterling last season.
