Our pre-season projections and Rate My Team tool are almost ready to go live in the Members Area. Over the past week we’ve seen a number of significant signings, notably at the Etihad, that have delayed our first set of numbers but, with the market seemingly settled for 24-hours, we’re now very close to going live with both, albeit with perhaps a big Gareth Bale caveat on the way.

Once again this season, the projections are based on the Rate My Team statistical model, developed by “Professor” Chris Atkinson, who some of you may have got to know via last season’s ScoutCast.

The Rate My Team model is built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has an attack and defence rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

In the next day or so we will be publishing full projections for every Premier League player, plotting their total points, goals, assists etc for the entire season. These will include short-term projections offering a view of the opening six Gameweeks.

The projection tables will be fully sortable and you can assess FPL points per million value to help you run the rule over those crucial budget purchases.

In addition to the Projections, the full Rate My Team tool will also be going live shortly.

This can be used in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. It includes a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also be used to build a team from scratch, analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers.

The “Professor” and I will be creating some new movies explaining how the Projections and Rate My Team work in the next few days. Look out for them over the weekend and into next week.

A reminder that memberships for the coming season, giving you access to both the projections and Rate My Team tool, along with many other features, are available for the pre-season price of £12.50. Click here for further details, including an array of preview movies to demonstrate what’s on offer.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think the advantage of going with mirallas from the off is that you can always downgrade to snodgrass, but if Mirallas hits form it'll be difficult to get him.

What are peoples preference for a 7.5 forward and why? I already have RVW. I want Carroll but I dont think he'll make GW1. So i'm looking at -

    Berbatov
    Lambert
    Kone
    Jelly
    Aspas

Jelavic has been completely ignored so far. If he'd started last season at 7.5 we'd all have picked him.
This year I'm starting with Berbatov - guaranteed starts, consistent quality, penalty taker, bonus magnet.

Would anybody on here like to see the Fabregas to United transfer go through?

    And if so :
    1. what kind of pricetag do you think would he get (my guess is around 10)
    2. would you consider drafting him in? (I wouldn't hesitate for a second)

If he starts out with a massive ownership, it's quite hard for his price to rise, as he needs new buyers.

But something like last season, when no-one had RVP initially, and then everyone had to gradually draft him in led to a significant increase in price.

Good for Man U without a doubt.

But we hear all these rumours every year about everyone changing clubs. All fuelled by greedy agents. Out to make themselves rich, not caring what happens to the player's career long term as they will have plenty more on their books by then.

You have a point, but in this case, Moyes did say that they made 2 offers, so I don't think it's agents behind all of this.

And Fabs doesn't seem to me like that kind of player, and Barcelona is definitely not the kind of club to bend to that sort of pressure to give a player a raise.

Lost at the bottom of last page.

Let's try a RMT! I guess this is my second proper draft this season, still RVP-less. No Chelsea due to terrible fixtures. Playing 3-5-2 trying to find some value in mid-priced midfielders, and assuming Rooney leaves. Not sold on Sturridge's fitness at the moment so picked Aspas.

    Mig Boruc
    Coleman Collins Parr Clyne MTurner
    Bale Walcott Kagawa Mirallas Nolan
    Aguero Aspas Gayle

I'm unsure about Kagawa, but if I want Aguero I need to find someone 8.0 or lower (or I gotta downgrade Aspas and upgrade Kags to Silva, which would mean I'd have to double on City).

Thanks. Nolan is my "punt", I have faith in him producing even without Carroll but we'll see. He's been extremely consistent in terms of scoring the last seasons and is good versus weak teams.

One big hitter in defence would make it more balanced in terms of changing it around, but not sure it's worth it. Will ponder on.

Mangane...no chance. Diakite/Roberge may have a chance, but O'shea/brown looks to be the preffered partnerhsip to start season with. Brown will likely get injured within first couple weeks.

For anyone interested in Newcastle defenders (God help you all), both Saylor and Yanga-Mbiwa started last night as well as Coloccini. Saylor got subbed off with about 10 minutes left and Yanga-Mbiwa played the full game. Hard to say what would have happened if Coloccini hadn't got sent off though.

Yanga-Mbiwa is maybe slightly ahead - he has the flexibility to play at full back which helps. I'll be keeping an eye on it and I'll be sure to post any useful info.

Current incarnation of my team, Norfolk & Good:

    Boruc (Mannone)

    Mert, Toure, Collins (Clyne, Shaw)

    Walcott, Kagawa, Hazard, Gerrard (Paulinho)

    RVW, Sturridge, Bony

    Thoughts?

Your midfield is interesting - very strong up front. I'm tempted by Bony or Michu myself, but not until GW6 probably.

Your defensive unit has THREE Southampton players - very dangerous, especially as I don't think Toure will play unless Agger or Skrtel are injured.

Made some changes to the RMT on the previous page based on comments here:

    Foster- Boruc
    Verto-coleman-collins-parr-baker
    Hazard-mirrallas-benarfa-silva-colback(or other 4.5)
    Giroud-RVP-rodriguez

    How does it look now?

I don't really rate Baker as a defender.
You're very brave not going for Bale. I'm not a fan of Colback either.
Other than that, it looks good. I hope Ben Arfa can do well but Newcastle haven't exactly been strengthening their squad.

      This was the earlier team:
      Mignolet/ Boruc
      Vertonghen/ azpilicueta/ metesacker/ coleman/ parr
      Hazard/ mirrallas/ benarfa/ tonev/ koren
      Giroud/ RVP/ Rodriguez

      Changed to:
      Foster- Boruc
      Verto-coleman-collins-parr-baker
      Hazard-mirrallas-benarfa-silva-colback(or other 4.5)

I genuinely want to know, is Coleman a definite starter? I would prefer Nolan to Barfa. I don't like Giroud. Chelsea's fixtures aren't great so I would rather have Walcott or Coutinho instead of Hazard. Seems pretty solid though.

Pretty good - though your 2 budget defenders will probably not play, giving you a blank if called upon.

Fun to see a midfield without Bale and Walcott - I'd swap Silva for Coutinho personally as he'll score more goals. I know that means no Man City coverage, but if Silva or Navas prove to be on form, you can always transfer them in later.

Gosh, TM, why don't you just start all your leagues in GW 1? By the time Christmas comes and the rest of your leagues start I'm already maxed out on 15 leagues, so I have to leave quite a lot of leagues midway through to join yours. 🙁

Early Bird will be finished by then. Don't worry about the Xmas & 2nd WC until later perhaps. The other 3 are worth joining though unless outside 10K by GW29.

        Coleman Clyne Collins (M.Turner, Chester)

        Bale Hazard Walcott Snodgrass (Thomas)
