Two intriguing fixtures in the Premier League today, effecting both ends of the table. League leaders Manchester United reignite their great rivalry against a Liverpool side desperate to get into Europe, whilst Tottenham’s European ambitions stretch as high as the Champions League spots. They visit a Wolves side well capable of beating the top teams, but find themselves struggling in a relegation battle.

As always, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open, and the first thing to digest is the team news from Anfield…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio, Gerrard, Lucas, Kuyt, Meireles, Maxi, Suarez.

Man United XI: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Smalling, Brown, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Rooney.

The headline team news for the hosts is that £35 million January signing, Andy Carroll, makes the substitutes bench for the first time in a Liverpool shirt. Kenny Dalglish opts for four defenders at the back, with Luis Suarez leading the line up front.

The visitors reinstate the Premier League’s top scorer to their starting eleven, with Javier Hernandez replacing the Bulgarian on the pine. Another once regular starter is back in the team after a couple of games on the touchline, as Rafael da Silva gets the nod ahead of John O’Shea.

The Dugout Discussion will stay open right up until the hotly anticipated bonus points are distributed.

    Have to say, it's a real shame that this was a 3-0, as it would have been quite nice to see the 442 used again, just from a spectator's point of view......

    Putting being a d*ckhead to one side for a moment this is obviously a way below par united. Would love it if this puts a big of a dent in their confidence but with Vidic back i imagine they will be back to bossing games.

    Fair play to Liverpool though, they've played very well going forward. Meireles, Suarez and Kuyt all played very well.

    Not that I'm in a position question SAF but really can't understand the selection today. 2 passers/2runners in midfeild don't work as we saw in the defeat to West Ham.

    Also, surely we needed Fletcher on to sit deep and protect the weaker centre backs, and finally Rafael over O'shea really puzzles me, firstly O'Shea is more defensive which the CB's needed and secondly O'Shea playing means the two more attack minded CM's can push on and don't need to stay back.

    Am I missing something?

    Do i need to use my wildcard if point scoring starts gw 30 for my new mini league or can I just save my wildcard and use point deduction without it effecting the table?

    What annoys me about this united team, is that it would have only taken about 40 million in the summer to have solved our midfield......

    ("only" being relative to Carroll's 35 million etc.)

        Doesn't deflect from the fact that our midfield has been undeniably inadequate at times. Add a modric/sneijder/ozil in there and you arguably have a world class squad.

        Not sure I get it RBGay? I was talking about Suarez. You link to a comment I made about Dirk Kuyt. A Dirk Kuyt who in the main is pretty awful. He did today score 3 goals that LFC put on the plate for him, and he buried them well, top man. Prior to then he had his 50p boots on again. Go troll somewhere else paddy.

    I'm pretty bummed out about my team, with Nani/Rafael today and Merieles not getting in on the goals. This has been a classic game to watch yet I am more focused on my bloody FF team. Shall I give it up next year? Does anyone feel like this?
