This morning’s reports are stating that Luis Nani will miss the next three games for Manchester United. This comes after the Portuguese winger suffered a deep gash in his leg from a wild Jamie Carragher “tackle†in the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.

If the reports are to be believed, Fantasy Managers should remain calm, given that the three games in question only include one in the Premier League – the gameweek 30 home clash with Bolton on March 19. The other fixtures involved are the FA Cup clash with Arsenal on Saturday and the Champions League second-leg tie with Marseille the following Tuesday.

In addition, should United draw against Arsenal on Saturday, the replay will postpone the visit of Bolton. That would hand United a blank in gameweek 30, giving Nani more time to recover. The suggestion is that Nani will be back in contention for a return for the trip to West Ham on April 2 in gameweek 31. There’s every possibility then that he will not miss any Premier League action should today’s reports be confirmed.

Any prolonged period of absence for Nani would have huge impact on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. The midfielder is currently owned by over 47.9% of Fantasy Managers and has already fetched 165 FPL points this season. So far however, given today’s reports, it seems unlikely that we will witness big sales of a player who has arguably been the key performer in our Fantasy seasons.

Having said that, Nani is currently topping the FPL rankings for “Transfers Out†amongst the midfielders – over 13,000 have so far got rid leading up to the gameweek 30 deadline on March 19. Presumably these Fantasy Managers have not had to suffer a significant loss of funds as a result of shedding Nani – a player who has risen to 10.1 from his starting value of just 8.0 in the FPL.

We are still awaiting official news from the United camp. But, with Alex Ferguson’s apparent reluctance to cooperate with the media at present, Nani’s own Twitter feed may prove a more significant source. Yesterday he shared this with his ‘followers’:

“thank you for your support after my injure. i hope to be back really soon.”

We await further updates.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

I got on the Bendy bus and now have to get off as RVP is back. (I’m still going to wait on transfers till the end of the week).
However I’ve gone very midfield heavy with Nani, Young, VDV, Lamps and Silva.
This means I can only afford one expensive striker.
Currently have Tev, Bendy and Zigic.
    What transfers to make?
Leon Best worth a shout? Carroll seems like an obvious choice at the lower price range. Gyan possibly?

Down less than 100 from the leader and need to play catchup. What do you think about this big 16 point hit?

    Yaya Toure> Bale
    Dempsey>Lampard
    Tevez>Bent
    Berbatov>Suarez
    Saha>Rooney

    Nasri - Nani - Lampard - Adam - Bale

    Suarez - Bent - Rooney

ALso i think you should rethink it. berba at home could score well against bolton if its on.

Saha hasnt got a bad fixture so not an essential change

Lampard has man city so is it really needed this week?

Just because your chasing a league doesnt mean you should waste points imo.

funny all you english scum calling Nani soft etc. his been Man utd best player by far! samething happend with Ronaldo and now look at where he is compared to Rooney!

Rooney is sucking at united while ronaldo is owning at real. keep dissing on Nani and im sure he will find his way to a Real team aswell.

Ars to go down 4-1 tonight. Messi to get 2 easy. RVP to play 20 min then watch game from hospital.

Firstly, being soft and being their best player aren't mutually exclusive, they are actually quite unrelated.

Secondly, Ronaldo goes down easier than a prostitute.

Third, the Spanish league, while it may have two VERY good teams, has a lot of crap as well, so its a little difficult to compare performances. He has done nothing at Real that compares to his 40+ goals as a winger at United.

Lastly, Arsenal wont get turned over like they did last year. Puyol and Pique out for them is big, as is the presence of Van Persie (possibly) and Cesc, who were injured last year for this game, and the form of one Samir Nasri.

What teams play in La Liga? Its like a bunch of minnows. They dont have the depth like the English Premier League.

Also, 40 goals as a winger vs 50 as a striker, something to consider.

Tevez can score against anyone, and he's proven that time and again. However, Balotelli has shown great form and Dzeko looks dangerous.

While it's certainly possible for him to play every game between now and the end of the season, the goals could be shared.

Yeah, anyone can have a bad day. But he takes penalties and his current form is in stark contrast to the rest of the season. If you look at his history, he's scored against most teams this season.

I am not expecting him to score at all, I fully expect 2 points from the Chelsea game, but he is at the moment the best Striker in the league (Based on form/consistency) a blank this week gone I kind of expected, hence why I didn't (C) him, after the Chelsea game he has ok fixtures. And I also have more pressing issues in my team.

Once-good, now fairly dodgy team is linked above. I feel like:

    a) there’s a few too many rotation risks for my liking
    b) although there’s some decent players there, I need to catch up points, and that might require taking a few punts on differentials

    Some players I’m watching:

GK: Szczesny (to rotate with Foster)
    DEF: Cahill, Hangeland, Luiz, Walker
    MID: Lampard, O’Hara
    FOR: Suarez, Rooney, Sturridge

Any of these worth getting in soon?

Rooney if Utd have game this GW, Lamps yes also this game or if u must wait one GW. O Hara GW 32 till the season. Mignolet is better to rotate with Foster (u don't need to rotate Foster IMO) Defense options aren't urgent but Luiz and Walker are good picks IMO.

With the way that defences are leaking goals, I'd save your transfer and guess who's going to score big.

im getting rid of kolarov & I have been his biggest supporter all season (even gave him the arm band) I just dont think citys fixtures are good enough and without toure they will concede. Still not sure on coleman, i'll prob keep in the short term.

you might be better answering that yourself, wish I had stuck with your advice for getting in Lamps instead of me looking at the dgw Arteta. Daniel - three highest scoring strikers from now till the end of the season?

I like Gyan, and also Bent, but RVP could get back in the mix too.

I was just thinking about the Kolarov issue. I think there's too much of a rot risk there for the returns he offers. So sell, but I have more pressing issues than him

Yep, believe it or not. Was telling a spurs fan. He said I was crazy.

Not as bad as the Arsenal fan who said I know nothing about football if I think Birmingham are gunna win (Referring to the CC Final).

I'll have Walker's 3 off the bench if Zigic doesn't play...but seeing as I spent 4 points on Ziggles and regret it a lot (will probably never start him again) then i'd probably prefer to see him just get 2 so I feel I've got at least something out of him.

With Ferguson and Gardner both definitely out of the game, can't see them having much of the ball in midfield.

I think anyone wise enough to have got lampard in, would also be wise enough not to captain Zigic.

I don't know. I mean for me it was essentially between Tevez and Lampard, with a 50/50 chance of them doing nothing/doing well.

If I'd had Torres though, I definitely would have captained him. If he's not gonna score on the break at Blackpool I don't know when he will.
