Gameweek 29 is brought to a close with Everton and Birmingham slugging out their second fixtures of the week at Goodison. Down at the Lane meanwhile, Spurs host AC Milan in their Champions League second leg with a 1-0 advantage from the San Siro. Eyes and ears might well be drawn to North London tonight then, but the minds of Fantasy Managers will surely also be turning to events on Merseyside as David Moyes’ side look to build on the 2-1 win at St James’ Park at the weekend.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for those wishing to indulge in some real-time opinion slinging on tonight’s events.

We had an anxious wait on Nikola Zigic’s groin – I never really thought I’d ever by typing that for all kinds of reasons. The news is that the “Serbian Skyscraper” misses out – he’s got to tuck his legs up on the Birmingham bench once more. Presumably Zigic is fit enough to play some part, but Alex McLeish appears to have opted for a 4-5-1 with his starting lineup. He makes three changes – Seb Larsson is brought back into the midfield, along with Jordon Mutch – Keith Fahey and Obafemi Martins drop out. Martin Jiránek comes in for Curtis Davies at the back.

As for the home side, they bring in Johnny Heitinga for hamstring victim Phil Neville and presumably the Dutchman will sit in the Everton midfield holding role. Seamus Coleman is on the bench again then. In better news for Fantasy Managers, Rafael Van der Vaart starts for Spurs tonight.

Here’s the full lineups from Goodison:

Everton XI: Howard; Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Osman, Heitinga, Rodwell, Arteta; Beckford, Saha.

Birmingham XI: Foster; Carr, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell; Larsson, Bowyer, Mutch, Bentley, Beausejour; Jerome.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think he runs like that normally. It does look odd though. Maybe he's injury paranoid and runs that way to prevent a pull or something.

So now Ill have to deal with injuries to Barton (just bought him for Adam, brilliant!), Arteta, Nani and Zigic. Zigic and Arteta were my two big differentials this week. Guess not. Right now I have Berbatov's 2 pointer to plug in from the bench. Super.

Btw, this is the 2nd straight year Arteta got injured just as I brought him in. Guess who is never going to be in my team again?

+1 thought you were going dark this week? Away somewhere? I am out of the cup anyway, balls. Although I did take a gamble on 1-2 to Brums in IKTS tonight, figure PDM must have Everton win, so that would be -10, but would need it to be 1-2 for me to win that one!

I am away, but the only darkness is outside my window. 😉

DFD has (taken my bait? and) gone for the draw tonight so I need an Everton win and both European legs to keep things alive.

Fantasy football is a fickle chief though. He giveth with one hand (Coleman on for some FPL points) and then swiftly taketh away with all of his other hands (Arteta metro captain, Coleman/Baines/Foster/RJohnson concede, Gardner still not fit etc.)
My 2 UCL men are also not up to much, Yepes is benched and Kluge booked, so I'll have to be happy with the points yesterday.

Tottenham are living dangerously here. I didn't expect them to set out to defend the lead and hoof it towards Crouch. This is probably the most passive Tottenham I've seen in years at WHL.

They're still in the driving seat but if they go out like this they will never forgive themselves.
