Everton have offered further details on the hamstring injury sustained by Mikel Arteta in last night’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham. The Club have announced that, following scans, the Spaniard appears to have suffered a grade two tear.

That indicates that Arteta may have suffered damage a number of the muscles in the area where “the fibres have been pulled apart but they haven’t completely ruptured.”

Although Everton have stated that “It is not yet known how long the Spanish midfielder will be out for”, sources suggest that such an injury normally carries an absence of 2-6 weeks, others claim 4-6 weeks. At this stage, the safe bet would be to assume that Arteta seems likely to face around a month on the sidelines. That would see Arteta miss league fixtures against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves, with a possible return against Blackburn on April 16 – gameweek 33.

Over 100,000 managers in the Fantasy Premier League game have transferred in the midfielder over the past two gameweeks, with Arteta’s price rising from 8.0 to 8.3 as a result.

Arteta’s absence from the Everton lineup will come as a major blow for David Moyes. In Fantasy terms, it could now bring Seamus Coleman back into his starting lineup having started on the bench in the previous two matches, while Leighton Baines will be expected to assume full set-piece duties and possibly spot-kick responsibilities. Everton are yet to win a penalty in the league this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Bad news for Everton though (although they haven't got much left to play for this season).

I know its early days yet, but i dont wana talk about cricket…or box stitching

its so frustrating looking at albrightons minutes on the pitch this season,
is he more nailed on in the last 2 gws or just as likely to play 6 minutes in the next game
    can decide who to field
    silva/albrighton?

Osman on the left with Coleman/Ancichebe on the right. If Moyes keeps 4-4-2 then I think Coleman will get the nod.

People were asking before whether it's just Man United and Arsenal (and consequently Bolton and West Brom) who are in danger of having a blank gameweek in GW30 if they draw their FA cup match.

This would suggest that is the case, although Man City's GW31 fixture might also be under threat?

    Im very bored, so some situation analyisis (long post warning);

my rival went ahead of me this week by 50 points and got lucky with a rooney and baines captaincy-with me choosing tevez.

i was quite pessimistic about it, but in comparing both our teams, i have many many differentials

    His team

    hart/kingson

    baines/ coleman/ djourou /johnson /evra

    nolan /nani /vdv /downing /meireles

    rooney/ odem/ carroll

    My team
    __________

    foster/kingosn

    coleman, vidic, ivanovic, huth, kolarov

    nasri, dempsey, young, adam, nani

    tevez, dzeko, odemwinie

Ok so, the dzeko experiment ( i got him after his two euro goals and his great fixtures that turned out pretty shite) didnt work for the past three weeks, and i should have got rooney, but EVERY other thing that's gone against me has been jsut bad luck i think- between 60 minutes not being completed by some of my backs, tevez not firing, young missing penalties, etherington being crocked for three weeks, etc. etc.

Im thinking rvp is my primary route to major further differential success...what yis reckon? (should the game be on that is) I know he'll stick with rooney. And i should be able to claw that gap back, as i think i have a better team- hes just been much luckier than me.

Van Persie will come back in for a lot of folk I reckon - injury risk is the only possible drawback to that move. I also have Tevez and Kolarov and, to be honest, I'm doubting both going into the next few weeks. Kolarov for Walker looks a decent option for you - no coverage in his side either.

i am more worried about a possible dip in form for tevez and the number of attempts on goal that city is creating atm, rather than his fixtures, after the coming gw, there is only pool away and spurs at home seemingly tough, but there should be goals in both imo

        cant see myself dropping him

kolarov on the other hand.. dont know, I almost feel he is more likely now to start in tough games on the left midfield to bolster the teams overall defending, rahter than in the easier home games where they can afford fielding 3 forwards..?

Agreed...I'm likely to hold to see what Mancini does with his lineup at Chelsea. Like you say, Kolarov might be the secure option away from home and vs bigger sides. When he plays, he has potential as that left-foot will fetch more points I'm sure.

yeah was thinking that but rvp for no hit this week when i know he'll hang on to rooney seems the right move. Kolarov has that potential to get offensive points though so i might hang on- sunderland and tottenham at home have potential for points at both ends...

you might be re-convinced about dzeko aftar a couple more euro goals tonite 😉

Your rivals team is quite nicely set up for the coming gw if VdV is fit and another possible succeful rooney captainsy going his way, but yeah, RvP is the logical pick to hit back i reckon, with arsenal going all out for the league title

I would hold out - still think van persie not fully fit and big injury risk. To be honest, if you wanted to go for a nice differential and since your rival doesnt have van persie anyway, why not go for a darren bent. Great fixtures coming up and is due for a brace or hattrick soon. With Ashley missing the pk, they might give him a run on pks as well. It's the same thing that happened last year when he missed and then Milner was on pks. My vote is darren bent and then with one more transfer, may be able to bring in fatty for chelseas juicier gws.

Perhaps, but lets not forget that he also missed two sitters in that game(not that that's a good thing), but point being he will get many chances especially with their fixtures coming up and I reckon he will bury them with greater efficiency.

Not to mention, for the price you are paying for bent and his coming fixtures, you could be much worse off. Van Persie an injury risk and even if not, i can see him being somewhat rotated until he is up to 100% - Rooney unpredictable, Tevez a good option but City not creating enough chances, Torres and Drogba - who will play, Suarez a risk and difficult fixtures, berbatov rotation, defoe - not the worst option, but would rather have a van der vaart representing tottenham. At the end of the day, it just doesnt seem like there are many great options at the moment up front. So why not take the risk and fortify the Midfield where there are plenty more options?

Twirls are dangerous though because the bottom bit sometimes comes apart and leaves holes.

a biscuit based snack is your best bet.

Do not under any circumstance try flakes with tea, stick to milk with those bad boys.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm on a massive tilt. It's unbearable to see all these injuries and price rises coming through with over a week until the next deadline. I'm desperate to make some changes, especially off the back of a poor score. This week really can't go fast enough!

      not bad, anything can happen

If you look at my team, I play it safe, and bank on other people doing high-risk transfers.

If you do a bit of both, maybe make low cost players your differentials and keep some big guns in there?

I think Rooney still flatters to deceive, so RVP is the way to go. Defence wise, get a couple of cheaper options giving you some spare funds if needed.

Right gents, I kind of need some help with my team because it's just a mess. I'm 220+ points ahead of my rival in my mini league and I hate taking hits but I don't want to get too ahead of myself with my lead because it can be caught.

Not too much wrong here. Arteta should go given today's news but Nani and Barton are worth holding to see how their injuries pan out. Your forwards look to be the only possible problem area with Bent, Rooney and RVP all better placed over the coming weeks I'd say. I'd say you need VDV to protect yourself against a possible explosion there.

Any chance of a new captain poll, the RVP one is starting to look a little out of date...like asking people who their favourite Bay City Roller is, or who they are going to replace Ray Clemence with.

A little risky seeing as though Lampard is playing a CL game before his next EPL one - but I can't see Chelsea players wanting to risk injury in what should be a failry comfortable game. Risk worth taking, I'd say.

The bottom 7 teams in the FFScout members league have got green arrows, with no-one below them with a red arrow. Which leads only to one conclusion:

Someone who uses this site, and paid good money to use it as a tool, has had such a terrible gameweek that they deleted the team, consequently shifting the bottom 7 up a place each (thus a green arrow).

The fact that despite us all having a terrible gameweek/run of gameweeks at some point but we dust ourselves off and make some telling changes.

I'm secretly hoping the reason behind the deletion was because someones girlfriend/wife (or boyfriend/husband) threatened to leave them unless they stopped playing - completely feasible considering the time we invest in this! I've been threatened once or twice when in Saturday 11am-11:30am last minute scouting mode (Tesco isn't going anywhere woman, just wait!).

FPL is the most frustrating yet rewarding way to enjoy the best league in the world that little bit more.

    🙂
