As the masses eagerly await the qualifying results for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV, there’s still the matter of its sister competition to deal with. The Members’ Paddy Power Cup is now at the Round of 16 stage going into Gameweek 30, and as we announce those ties we’ll take a look at how the last round panned out…
If you take a look at the full set of results you’ll see some very mediocre scores (an average less than 37), and it’s a double-whammy for most of those eliminated this week, as it leaves them with no cup competition left to compete in.
There was one drawn tie in the round, as Alchi-traz‘s superior overall rank, sees him progress at the expense of Vanilla Kush F.C. His opponent in the next round will be kapitidave, who sneaked past fellow Dave, Dave Boozle, 33 – 32 in another closely contested tie.
Ten points clear as top-scorer for the week was canetoad, who easily beat Ghost 56 – 32 in what was the widest margin of victory in the round. The Round of 16 draw has him pitted against the joint-second highest-scorer for the week (with the second-widest margin of victory), Touch of Class, who beat Walky Talky 46 – 26.
The draw has also thrown out some other great ties, as the two top-ranked Fantasy Managers in the competition have been drawn out together. Zophar, sitting 26th in the world, reached this stage after a nail-biting 36 – 35 victory over Zod. His opponent, oi keano, who is only two points and five places behind Zophar in the overall standings, had far less difficulty in dumping roversnick 46 – 28 out of the competition.
The main rival for the ‘glamour tie of the round’, has the third and fifth highest-ranked Fantasy Managers squaring off. That’s FFS Cup III Champion and 135th in the world, Gooner dave (luckily guaranteed a first round berth in the other cup competition), up against top 1000 contender FC Super-Hans.
All eight ties can be viewed right here.
Good luck to the 16 of you going for a Quarter-Final spot. I’ll bring news of the results, accompanied with the Quarter-Final draw, a few days before the GW31 deadline.
