Rate my Team and the Projections have now been fully updated. They not only include the new arrivals from the transfer window, they also reflect the recent 25-man squads and factors such as ineligibility for fixtures against parent clubs for loan players.

The Rate My Team model has also been tweaked slightly with regards to bonus point allocation and form over the opening three Gameweeks.

Members can now view Projections for all players for Gameweeks 4 onwards, or get a snapshot of the next six Gameweeks. Rate my Team, meanwhile, allows those members playing wildcards to experiment with their lineups. Simply enter you team id and your current squad will be retrieved.

Having tweaked the model throughout the day, there will doubtless be further changes implemented and, should there be any major changes, I’ll notify you via comments.

Season memberships, giving access to Rate My Team and the Projections, are currently available for £15. View this page for details.

After reading that article on TotalFPL, I have changed my thinking for my WC and I will go lighter at the back. There is pretty strong statistical evidence to suggest that the number of clean sheets will decrease & average goals per game will revert back up to the mean, they have been abnormally low in the first few weeks of this season (in fact, lowest ever in the last 3-4 years).

Less clean sheets = less BAPs for defenders than we've seen so far. Defenders are still more attractive on a relative basis than they have been in seasons past, but once again I think it will be better to beef up the defense around January when the top teams tighten up again to reap the benefit of the increased BAPs for clean sheets.

I hit my wild card a few days with the full intention of making a little money and then popping RVP in at the end unless he looked like rising before. I seem to be looking at this now:

        No worries, I don't know him that well but I remember watching him for Valencia two or three times and seemed to be a very handy little player, and he has started the season very very well 🙂

    Eriksen looks like more assists but lamela for 1 mil extra has a strong goalscoring record and he got a short cameo for his debut already. Could even go for both but for spurs excellent defense so far would want a defender and soldado so can only really choose 1 mid.

      Eriksen won't do as well with assists not being awarded baps, Lamela has been described as the next best thing out of Argentina. I'd lump for Lamela if I was to choose one, however I will be waiting and seeing for now as I could be very wrong! 😀

  A, and I think it reveals the extent to which one should reach to make RVP happen in your team. Two substantial downgrades for one decent upgrade isn't quite worth it -- yes, you have to spend the extra money sometime on someone, but not at the sacrifice of two other starter spots.

I am around 90% sure Arnautovic will play as a lone striker for Stoke at some point. 5.5m MID... Regardless of his temperamental nature he is a steal.

As fro Frollaini, he may be defensive but has a tendency to get forward on occasions. I was tempted by Nani but he is a risk IMO. When RvP is on corners, there is only one head he is aiming for.

Brady/Moses to rotate for the 4th mid spot in a 3-4-3. Worth the extra 0.5m for Mcgregor in my book, as he has very kind fixtures in the weeks when Mignolet has tough games.
I know Fellaini isn't flavour of the month on here but I just have a gut feeling he'll do more damage than people expect.
No City/Chelsea coverage but I'm fine with that, I don't want to deal with the rotation-related nightmares they would cause me.

Let me repost this to get some thoughts. It was stuck on the bottom of last page.

After reading that article on TotalFPL, I have changed my thinking for my WC and I will go lighter at the back. There is pretty strong statistical evidence to suggest that the number of clean sheets will decrease & average goals per game will revert back up to the mean, they have been abnormally low in the first few weeks of this season (in fact, lowest ever in the last 3-4 years).

Less clean sheets = less BAPs for defenders than we've seen so far. Defenders are still more attractive on a relative basis than they have been in seasons past, but once again I think it will be better to beef up the defense around January when the top teams tighten up again to reap the benefit of the increased BAPs for clean sheets.

  Here's the bigger question (for me at least) Pepin. Are you thinking CB's that would bring in the BAPs when they get shutouts (Colocinni, Fonte, Distin, Dawson, etc.), or attacking minded outside backs with the potential for the occasional goal/assist (Coleman, Shaw, Wilson, Davies, etc.)?

  Just read it -- intriguing but to me the problem with chasing this trend is that if becomes a reality it will be too late: we can't know for sure if this season is low scoring before too much of it has gone by to do much about it. Have to go with gut a bit here and mine tells me this phase will pass, and int'l break is the perfect opportunity for change to occur. Remember how Norwich remodeled its entire defense last fall, but those of us who loaded up on Arsenal attack based on the old Norwich got crushed?
  
  BTW, Chris Glover posted something awhile back on his blog about the one trend with longterm statistical backing: big clubs w their superior resources of depth and talent do get more CS in the cold months and the end of the season. That is the trend I am banking on as far as cashing in on the new BPS.

    Excellent points, but consider the opposite - if you go heavy in defense and then the trend does revert to the mean, you will have an equal difficulty remodeling your squad the other way.

  Good article, the most interesting data is the GPG per gameweek for the last 3 seasons, that's good record keeping!
  
  Yeah, I think it comes down to two distinct points:
  
  - I expect regression to usual goals per game anytime now.
  - Defender bonus per CS has significantly increased. I'd like to see someone work out defender bonus per CS for all defenders, but I am consistently seeing 2s and some 3s given out for 1-0 and 2-0 wins. In the past these would have gone to the goalscorers and assisters.
  - Bonus per assist has been significantly decreased. This hurts mids.
  
  So I don't see all midfielders having a problem, there are still some worth owning. However, midfielders who don't score regularly could well be outscored by considerably cheaper defenders, IMO. I'm thinking the likes of Hernandez, Barfa and even Coutinho could be outscored by the likes of Terry and Vidic.
  
  As a result, I am not interested in what I regard as rather over the top reactions like 5-2-3, but I am interested in adjusting to a 3-4-3/4-3-3 hybrid.
  
  How this works: Three quality goalscoring midfielders (Ozil Walcott Lampard is an example), two premium defenders (Vidic and Terry ideally but Vidic and Mert is OK). There are then five bench candidates: three defenders (something like Coleman Collins Chester) and two midfielders (something like Brady JWP). I only need to play two of these five every week. If I play two defenders, it's 4-3-3, if I play one defender, it's 3-4-3.
