In one of our most intriguing Members articles so far, I decided to investigate how players faired on a per minute basis when it comes to some of the vital statistics available in our Opta tables. Taking a look at Influence, Passing and Goal Threat, I investigate those players who recorded the most touches, passes, key passes, crosses and shots per minute in the Premier League so far.

The findings turned up several surprising statistics, with some major food for thought available to those considering a “route to recruit” for Cesc Fabregas this week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Love a bit of stats. Some interesting ones here, glad to see both Konchesky and Elmo ranking in the crosses - both are in my wildcard team, hopefully Bosingwa will carry a similar attacking threat against Wolves.
Sort of suprised that Carroll doesn't feature in the shots or passes list. I thought as the target man he would have huge influence in the opposition half.

Ha! I remember my Dad taking me to see that when I was 6, started out with a disembodied leg floating around and quickly went downhill from there. Not quite as bad as Jaws IV though, how Michael Caine got roped into that I'll never know, he must have been paid a fortune!

Malouda>Cesc after this week... its not madness taking out Malouda is it? I mean I've had him from the start and couldn't really bring him back any time soon if I made this move, due to the value rise

I think a lot of us are pondering this (plenty of people did it last week, too). For me it's either Malouda or Tevez who's got to go, and at the moment I'm leaning towards getting shot of the Argentinian. Tough call though, as Malouda's fixtures really aren't too appetising - there's the lovely FUL SUN in GW12-13, but that's the jam in a sandwich made of some rather unpleasant bread (bla liv and bir), but with Chelsea's you kinda feel he's fixture-proof. On the other hand Tevez has wlv wba MUN BIR for the next 4 after Arsenal, which really aren't too shabby at all.

Doubtless I'll change my mind a few dozen times before next week, though 🙂

Malouda's points haven't been that great the last three weeks: 2, 3, 3. I feel he has one more week to produce otherwise he is probably getting swapped for Fabregas. Its no good having 10 million odd tied up in a player that isn't bringing home the bacon. Also not that keen on bringing in Fabregas before the away trip to Man City. Would be nice to see if he makes it through 90 minutes with De Jong first.

The article pretty much reinforces the view that Adam & Fabregas are both the fulcrum of their respective teams.

We know Bale can whip in a delicious cross. If only (am I really saying this?) Spurs had a prolific physical striker. That'd make Bale a viable alternative to VDV.

If/when those divine double gameweeks rear their heads. Wilshere may be worth a cheeky punt.

The Konchesky part I had to read twice. Just to be sure!

It would be great to have the same analysis say, just before Christmas.

Yep, wedding in the northwest and the stag is in Newcastle - the lad getting married is a non-geordie toon fan as well so we're gonna drag a load of disgruntled and hungover Liverpool, Man U, Everton, Spurs, Wolves etc fans round SJP saturday avo (no doubt making dozens of quips about bringing your own trophies).
You could be right over the midfield, time will tell. I feel I have enough big hitters in the mid to cover until I change the team again in January. Plus if you look at the points of the dreamteam players there is no difference in total points between Malouda 57, Nani 58 (who I have) and Tevez 57 & Berbatov 56.

alrite fellas 2 freebies this week

I know getting coleman is slightly bandwagonish, but hes been on my list for a while and after spurs away this week, pretty nice fixtures, SO

    coleman in for samba/faye/konchesky..

anyone favouring either or... or pros n cons of each...

Samba: missing this gameweek then has chelsea next week
Faye: Man U this week then moderatly hard fixtures after
Konch: least likely to sell.. wanna see liverpool at home this weekend too so, between faye and samba

I prefare to keep samba since stoke arent knocking the cleanies much this time round... So faye out for coleman, even with sambas missing gw and fixture?

    Also

Gerrard out for Fab this week, i know its a week early, but everyone is going to do this week i wonder if he'll take off this weekend instead... get in before everyone gets...

So thats my 2 issues 🙂

Need some advice regarding team selection.

Who to play out of: Carrol away to West Ham, Adam away to Birmingham

Carrol have the assult court-case to think about, however I think the Birmingham defence is better compared to West Ham.

I can only get Fabs next week if I make my decision on Ashley Cole soon.

Either way Im swapping Dempsey to Adam. So it boils down to

Bosingwa and Malouda or VDV and A.Cole

I reckon Malouda's role will change when Fatty returns and Cashley is in less danger of rotation than a man returning from long term injury. Plus VDV has been a BP magnet.

How're ye folks, need to make a decision in the next 20 minutes, wondering if should:
Downgrade O'Shea > Coleman - That'd leave me 1.7m Exactly what i need to bring in Fabregas for Malouda next week. But it would mean having to play either Coleman or Faye (if Alex is injured) this week which seems like a step backwards.

Alternatively i could wait and maybe bring Bosingwa in for Alex and get 6 easy points, but it'd mean taking a hit for Fabregas next week.
    Opinions / suggestions always welcome.

Coleman is a decent bet short term. Gives you some exposure to Everton's attacking points.

The Alex/Bosingwa/Ivanovic has been the subject of considerable debate in here. It remains to be seen who will nail down a starting position.

Yeah I could just leave it altogether this week. But like i said, if im gonna bring in Coleman i have to do it in the next 15 minutes or so to get the finances right.

Difficult one. It's pretty unlikely that Coleman will keep a CS this week, so I'd be inclined towards Bosingwa.

Do you have any other players you want to get rid of next week-other than Mal? would make it easier to take the hit to bring in Fab.

        Nah not really, out of
        Robinson, Carson
        Alex, O'Shea, Dann, Elmo, Faye
        VDV, Nani, Malouda, Ferguson, Albrighton
        Tevez, Drogba, Berbatov

The only players i'm really willing to part with are O'Shea, Alex, Faye, Malouda Ferguson. I want at least 2 Chelsea lads so i figure Drogba + defensive cover would do.

What about Bosingwa in for Alex this week.

O'shea out for Coleman+Fab in for Mal next week?

Would mean a hit, but at least Coleman has Stoke at home as the fixture-better chance of making the points hit pay off?

Yeah that's what im thinking i'll do. Might even downgrade Faye to a bargain bin def instead of O'Shea next week to raise the beans for Cesc.

      Nasri.

He's in better form and more likely to play.

I'm looking into options for my two free transfers this week. Should I downgrade Toure to Coleman. And bring VDV IN for Bale? I have 0.3 in the bank. It would leave me with 12.4, so still enough to get Fabregas next week.

    My team is:

    Krul, Foster
    Shawcross, Konchesky, Dann, O'Shea, Toure
    Adam, Gerrard, Nani, Bale, Etherington
    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

Coleman and VDV arent that likely to get much returns this week. you'd be pitting your 2 transfers against one another. I'd reorganise your defense with two transfers to work with.

Not really no. Shawcross & Konchesky seem a bit pricey for the returns they give. Dann is good for this week but don't see the point in keeping 2 Brum defenders after that. O'Shea will play this weekend but after that you never know if it'll be Rafael or Neville. Toure is good but i'd think about Kolarov in the next few weeks since he'd be cheaper & more attack minded.

I wouldn't like to bet against good VdV returns this weekend. His games at the Lane this season have resulted in 9 points against Wolves and 15 against Villa. Why wouldn't he reproduce that against Everton?

          I didn't say he wouldn't i said it's unlikely.
          A. Spurs 10 men killed themselves last night. Not VDV i know but if his team is knackered then it affects him.
          B. Everton have been very solid at the back, something like 3 clean sheets in a row, so you'd assume it'll be a tight game.

Decision doesnt seem the most obvious- not for this GW anyway

anyway I think albrighton will rise before falling

upgrade ferguson to someone in a team with good matches coming up

I think Ancellotti said he'd start against Wolves, but not positive. And going by his 2008/9 performances he was better than Cole for a lot of that season.
