In one of our most intriguing Members articles so far, I decided to investigate how players faired on a per minute basis when it comes to some of the vital statistics available in our Opta tables. Taking a look at Influence, Passing and Goal Threat, I investigate those players who recorded the most touches, passes, key passes, crosses and shots per minute in the Premier League so far.

The findings turned up several surprising statistics, with some major food for thought available to those considering a “route to recruit” for Cesc Fabregas this week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    any transfer suggestions after viewing my cup match up? he has tevez/malouda/nani, i have vdv fabs and we both have drogs. i'm worried malouda might be my undoing if he goes off, but he doesn't have a chelsea defender and i have cole. i'm worried that cole might be rested and not play and was thinking of downgrading to bosingwa and getting nani for ethers next week. or should i wait and just do both transfers next week for free? thoughts?

      Best is not to worry about your Cup opponent. Luck is the name of the game when it comes to the Cup(look at Samba/Robinson last week)

      Concentrate on your ranking and the longterm trades you wanna do to better your team.

    There is a lot of talk about swapping Carroll out, but him and nolan are involved in most of toons goals. Can't see how putting a west ham striker in will help any team. For me the budget strikers are varney or hold onto to Carroll of you have him. There are more lucrative transfers out there than Carroll to Obihna

      Houghton said he will yesterday. All I would say with defences at themoment is there are few clean sheets out there except chelsea. I would say that the wise man should be playing three at the back with at least one chelsea man. I wouldn't waste my subs until a clear pattern emerges. If you are desperate to make a sub, I would go for Coleman at everton as he is playing on midfield

        Think I might have to bite the bullet and just leave it this week. You are right, not many clean sheets so guess a 4pt hot is not worth it.

        Might play Cole/Enrique/ Gohouri with the likelihood that Shawx or Jones will come in for Gohouri. Who would you put first sub?

    Caroll probably not even first choice number one any more , been too much of an idiot , and Ameobi has been playing well.

    I wouldnt take Caroll out but im not prepared to watch his price fall. My strategy is to use four points if i have to , to maintain team value. Then with the january wildcard i will have very strong second half . Team value already at 106

      Decent plan.

      Carroll is still very much Newcastle's main man though, so I'd be wary of taking him out.

      106 is pretty high. I'm on 105.1, but own 6 of the top transferred in 10. Could stand to lose quite a lot though when I sell Malouda next week as planned.

    Hey guys, can anyone offer a little help? (team link in user name)

    I want to bring Fabs in, but only straight swap i can do it Gerrard-->Fabs. I feel that may be a little silly given that Gerrard is at home to Blackburn and Fabs is away to City, although will more than likely shine.

    Are there any other areas that you think demand more attention? I have 0.8 in the bank so any expensive player will more than likely involve a pt hit, which i don't mind if it puts my team in a better place.

      Jimmy - there are several players I'd change but for now, I feel you should be aiming for a midfield of:

      Malouda VDV Fabs Adam Nani

      The Toures don't really appeal to me and there are plenty of value for money 4.5 - 5.2 budget defenders out there right now that offer something more than than just plain old defending. Fabs can be brought in next week. See if you can get VDV/Adam/Nani and hope LIV have turned a corner with Gerrard in the points.

          Not a fan of 8pt hits esp as you have the players to put a reasonable team out this week.

          Just make some gradual changes. If you can: Will Ferguson go into Adam? Or, Bale into VDV? Next week look to do Fabs if game fit.

    Who is likely to score more consistently each week: Malouda or A Cole? Chelsea are the only team who look to be keeping clean sheets, and Malouda hasn’t really scored a lot of late… I’m planning on trading Malouda for Brunt, and then trading Caroll for Tevez…

    PS: My EPL Fantasy version doesn’t allow more than 2 players from each team.

      It's a tough one as Malouda could turn it on at any moment, also i have hit and not cole!

      But faced with the choice i reason that Cole would be the most consistent as he has chance for clean sheets as well as the attacking potential, so given that I'd say Cole.

      My heart says the first one, as I think A Cole is going to have a stormer of a week.

      However, Nasri & Fabregas is a risky combination IMO. Nasri only seems to bag points when Cesc isn't playing. Option 2 spreads your risk.

      Heart says option 1.

      Head says option 2.

        Nasri + Fabregas is doubling on Arsenal attack for the two consecutive home games.

        I'm leaning A as well, but I just found out that Alan Hutton costs 4.8!

    Christ, everyone on these boards (nearly) seems to be in or about the top 1,000. I've had an awful, awful run with very or little time being actually put into thinking about this stuff. Stunned to see people on the top 10 who never even had Malouda...inspired choices all around...pity I suck

      Just had a quick look. 7 out of 10 have Malouda, 2 have Essien instead & 1 team has never had a Chelsea midfielder.
