According to quotes from Louis Saha, his season in Everton colours could well be over. The Everton striker was forced off late on against Fulham with an ankle injury on Saturday, having notched his tenth goal of the season in the second-half. That was his ninth strike since the turn of the year. Once again however, Saha’s momentum appears to have hit the skids thanks to an injury setback – the Frenchman landed awkwardly while contesting an aerial ball in the 2-1 win; the fear is that he may have damaged ankle ligaments.

Saha is apparently due to have scans on Friday but, in an interview with L’Equipe, the striker was more than a little pessimistic on his prospects…

“I am on crutches at the moment…I am not well. Am I going to be out for days, weeks, months? I do not know. But it will be difficult to play again by the end of the season.â€

Everton have yet to officially confirm the prognosis but we should expect more information by tomorrow. If Saha is indeed sidelined, it will leave David Moyes with just Jermaine Beckford available as a recognised striker. With Marouane Fellaini already out for the rest of the season and Mikel Arteta reportedly out until mid-April, Moyes’ resources are looking badly stretched.

For us Fantasy Managers the news of Saha’s absence will likely promote Tim Cahill in our thinking. The Aussie has himself only just returned from his own ankle problems but, having regained fitness, he will now likely face the burden of being asked to score the goals to continue Everton’s ascent up the table.

Moyes has already turned to Cahill to lead his attack earlier in the season. The Fantasy Premier League midfielder, priced at 8.9, has registered 9 goals and 4 assists to this point but has not completed 90 minutes since gameweek 27 – his last league goal was way back in December in the gameweek 18 win at Man City . Even so, the prospect of Cahill leading the line for the Toffees will spark further interest from Fantasy Managers, particularly as Everton are currently the league’s form side.

David Moyes’ outfit have won 4 of the last 6, scoring 12 goals in the process. Everton’s immediate run of opponents suggests that further returns could be in the offing – they take on a beleaguered Aston Villa in gameweek 31, followed by a trip to Wolves and another Goodison clash with Blackburn in gameweek 33. Goals will be expected to arrive across those three matches, with Cahill seemingly best placed to be amongst them.

Cahill is currently away with the Socceroos for their friendly in Germany on March 29. Fantasy Managers will want to see him return intact and in a timely manner in order to consider him for gameweek 31.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

then use the extra 2m to go kingson to begovic and simpson to bramble

Nah, you're missing the point. Try again?

If you do want my opinion though, refuting that someone is "as shit as they come." doesn't mean i think they are the best thing since sliced bread. There is a middle ground, Defoe on his day can be absolutely devastating, his problem is that he goes missing far too often and contributes little other than goals, so when he's not scoring he's not doing alot.

            Anyway, that's besides the point.

seems good.. it would give you the same strikers I have.. I'm just not so sure about Torres.. might get rid and go for Lampard + 2 defenders. What do you think?

I've seen Torres play the last few games and he isn't seeing much of the ball. Doesn't seem to fit in the formation chelski are playing, he looks lost in the middle making useless runs. When ever he gets the ball he tries to do something with it though, but I don't know if he's worth the outlay atm.

Might just count my losses, get in DJ/Ba or someone similar and move on.

stick with torres then switch to tevez gwk 35 thats my plan

everyone said leave rooney until he hits form but i stuck with him n had him for his bigger early scores

with chelseas fixtures torres has to start scoring

Anyone think that New Zealand actually have a decent shout tomorrow? The bookies have South Africa down as 1/3 favourites, but I reckon that's a little short.

New Zealand's batting line-up is extremely talented IMO, and if just a couple of them get in and make decent runs then they could easily knock up a decent total. Plus I reckon their big hitting lower order could get hold of a few against Tahir and Peterson, who aren't in the same league as people like Murali and Mendis - who admittedly destroyed NZ last week...

The bookies have also got SA down as favourites to outscore NZ in the first 15 overs. Hmmmm... NZ have averaged a run rate of 5.35 inside the first 15 so far this tournament, South Africa's average is much lower at 4.79. New Zealand top order is filled with natural shotmakers who look to attack, Guptill, McCullum, Ryder etc. Whereas SA have Amla and Kallis - two batsmen who like to build their innings, and a hideously out of form Graeme Smith. Not to mention that Steyn/Morkel's pace lending itself to going for runs early on.

Anyway, I'm backing New Zealand at 9/4 (Vettori better be back!) and also NZ to score best in the first 15 at 11/10.

    Christ I'm bored.

Well Saha needs out! Liverpool have West Brom, followed by 2 tough fix 3 easy so may not be best option. Gyan is an option but has Man City this week and could bring him in instead next. Torres would be ideal if on form but isnt and is rotation risk so Rooney looks best option for next 3gws.

Shawcross out for Luiz looks very good to be with fixtures. Wouldnt want Coleman out but cant afford anything else and Smalling is great option aslong as Rio is injured.

I agree with you,I was targeting Db's comment, but anyway I am not sure about your other strikers but Rooney is a good option if and only if you already have RVP ,if not get RVP. If you are going with the first option Suarez is better than carroll

Luiz is good longterm but Chelsea could easily conceede away at Stoke so he isnt a priority this weekend. Depends on your options.

Suarez is an excellent purchase but I dont like his fixtures and others have better. Id wait till 34

Id wouldnt lose Coleman now nor would I bring in Rooney for the same reasons as Suarez.

I agree with Db about Suarez though, nice player but poor fixtures, so I would go with Rooney but consider dumping Young for Adam, both are on pens and Adam is in form and grabs bonuses more than MJ use to treat his balls

Another poor signing, or is he a better centre back. Ironic that Citys best 2 fullbacks are Richards and Zabaleta and Mancini tries to solve that 'problem' by signing 2 inferior ones. It's no wonder they are starting to call for his head.

It's funny that's he's a CB by trade but I was amazed how good some of his crosses were before his injury, glad he's getting his chance, I'd take selling Johnson over losing Kelly because he's not playing enough, but Kennys done ok fitting them both in, still think he'll sign a LB in the summer tho so it's will be interesting what happens.

England like to base selections on unrealistic projected future ability rather than reality. Richards is the better player but they can hang on to the hope Walker is the new Dani Alves as he hasnt been tested yet. So until he is finally dissapoints he can live in this temporary state of bliss.

              Richards should be there.

Anyway, im actually getting rid of VDV this week. Young to O'hara or A.Johnson and VDV to Fabregas. Don't trust VDV with CL fixtures coming up, and all doesn't seem well. Seen a lot of articles about him being unhappy about being subbed early.

Not particularly. They can just pass amongst themselves, then when they run out of options , hoof a long ball over the right - back and into the Bale zone.
