After claiming winnings back in Gameweek 5, last weekend we missed out on further glory thanks to Ben Davies’ smartly taken goal for Swansea. Aaron Ramsey did his bit by notching a fourth league strike of the season at the Liberty, but the Gunners defence gave way to snatch the winnings from our clammy fists. In this week’s Scout Pick’s inspired flutter, we again look to the midfielders to help us silence a grinning Paddy Power.

Before that, a reminder that Paddy are offering Fantasy Football Scout visitors enhanced odds on Wayne Rooney to score at the Stadium of Light this evening. New accounts can get 4/1 on Wayne Rooney to notch anytime. Click here to get involved.

Returning to this weekend’s markets, we find that three of the Scout Picks midfield are featured. Liverpool’s Victor Moses heads up the trio as he prepares to face former club Crystal Palace at Anfield. Fantasy managers, punters and the bookies alike can only see this one as a heavy home win, with the strike pair of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez carrying the armband for many in Saturday’s match.

Moses is a unpredictable character by comparison but, nonetheless, he’s the midfielder most likely to net in the Gameweek according to Paddy’s odds. They have him at 11/4 to score anytime with a Liverpool clean sheet against the Eagles. Having backed the old favourite in the picks, we’ll also show confidence by laying down £5 of our tenner stake and making this our bet of the week.

Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen managed to fend off the considerable challenge of team-mates Paulinho and Gylfi Sigurdsson to find a home in the Picks for the local derby with West Ham. The cultured Danish playmaker is yet to open his league account for Andre Villas-Boas’ side but Paddy are offering 11/2 for Eriksen to score with a Tottenham clean sheet against the Hammers at the Lane. We’ll wager another £3 of our stake on this one.

That leaves us with just a couple of quid to throw the way of Cardiff’s Peter Whittingham, now the weapon of choice in the Bluebirds midfield. In Fantasy terms, he’s played second fiddle to budget rival Robbie Brady at Hull, but, with the Irishman sidelined, Whittingham looks well placed to earn further interest.

He faces a Newcastle side that are still smarting from a first-half mauling at Goodison on Monday night and, while we expect Alan Pardew’s team to show more fight against the Welshmen, Cardiff have a formidable home record and will provide another stern test for the Magpies. Paddy have Whittingham at 9/1 to score with a Cardiff clean sheet against Newcastle and those odds earn our final slice of this week’s stake money.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    @TM

Another idea for a comp for you...Beat the Scouts

Basically, to stay in you need to beat (or tie with?) the Scout Picks team for that week.

You would need to decide things like whether it is net scores or not, and whether the Scout Picks gets autosubs.

    Would be a tough competition!

    @TM or UEFA Council

Another idea is a Score Bidding game...

Each week each player "bids" a score, backing their team to beat that score. If they beat the score (or tie with it?) they get the amount of points of their bid. If not they get zero.

E.g. If you "bid" 50 points and get 58 then you win 50 points. If you get 49 points, you win zero for that week.

You would decide how many weeks the comp would run for, e.g. 10. Players would need to decide how "safe" to play it with their bids cos a zero would really hurt their chances.

You would need a way of players submitting their bids each week before the deadline.

Or some way of players submitting their bids via an internet form.

Other issue is timing. Might not be around at deadline some weeks & numbers would only come out after games are played. Would need help to run.

So Zabaleta coming on for a one pointer seems to be a common thought around here. I have Zabaleta, Mertesacker, Ward who's away to Liverpool and Turner who's at home to Chelsea. I am planning on getting Baines in for next week. With his attacking potential, is he worth a four point hit considering my defence's limited potential this week?

My other defender is the injured Chester, who I'm bringing Baines in for.

No he would only get attacking points every now and then, against city defence is unlikely, I think play Zabaleta he should start as Micah start midweek.

I wouldn't have thought Zab was the type of player that would come on for only a few minutes especially in the position he plays? Either plays or doesn't play at all.
      I'm not sure though.

It's the early kick off isn't it? Think we'll know before the deadline? That'd be handy! 🙂

Ha. You'd be lucky if you did. Highly unlikely.

The early kick off team news normally comes out a few minutes after the deadline. I think they do it on purpose the selfish bar stewards.

I think Zab will play and I think and possibly get a score of sorta. I think Baines will likely just get a point. In short I think Baines will be outscored by Zab. For the record i own both. So no hit.

Ok thanks all, that's good enough for me.

It's for a dfferent game. As long as Southampton win, he'll get 2 bonus win points just for stepping on the pitch.

Be surprised if he didn't... played part in every game so far, and he's done well as far as I've seen. With the pressing game ol' Poch plays, there will be subs.

Loads of doubts in my team. Need to take any hits/changes lads?

    Vorm
    Jenkinson Coleman Vidic
    Michu Eriksen Ben Arfa Whittingham
    RvP(c) Soldado Giroud

    Boruc Wilson Brady Chester

If that was my team I would play Boruc instead of Vorm. Wilson instead Coleman.
New castle won't play shit 2 games in a row, so whatever many ppl says, Ben Arfa could be key.

Only problem i see is Michu, if he plays and scores, Boruc is not a good idea, but if you play Vorm and Michu won't start or fails to score. I think you lose more.
