Fernando Torres grabs a goal and assist as Chelsea snatch a dramatic late win over City. Sergio Agueroโ€™s scoring streak continues, though Michu causes owners consternation after drawing a fourth straight blank. A Roberto Soldado spot-kick is enough for Spurs to see off while, while a switch to 4-4-2 helps Gus Poyet win the Tyne-Wear derby in his first home match in charge of Sunderland:

Torres Makes the Difference
Having bagged a brace in the midweek Champions League win over Schalke, the Spaniard retained his place for the visit of City. Torres continued to impress, with a goal and assist in the 2-1 win earning him maximum bonus for a 12-point haul as Jose Mourinhoโ€™s side moved into second. Bearing in mind heโ€™s never started two league matches in a row this season, his acquisition remains a huge risk but Torres has the form and the fixtures to prove a real differential if his manager keeps the faith โ€“ the Blues next seven (new, WBA, whm, SOU, sun, sto, CPL) look hugely enticing.

Schurrle Opens His Account
Given the importance of yesterdayโ€™s game, itโ€™s arguable that Mourinho viewed his starting line-up as the strongest available. The German once again featured from the start, with Eden Hazard shifting over to the right to accommodate him โ€“ Schurrle finally found the net for the first time this term and, having now started five of the last six he has been available for, is becoming increasingly integral to Mourinhoโ€™s plans. At 7.3 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), compared to Hazard and Oscar at 9.1 and 9.0 respectively, he could well be worth a punt given the schedule above.

Aguero Run Continues
Fielded as a lone striker as Manuel Pellegrini opted for a 4-5-1, the Argentine maintained his outstanding recent form with yet another strike. Itโ€™s six goals in his last four in all competitions now for Aguero, with four goals and two assists in his last three in the league helping him to 64 FPL points โ€“ just three behind Daniel Sturridge in the overall standings. Yesterdayโ€™s defeat sees City slip to seventh, making a win over Norwich all the more crucial and with a trip to Sunderland also on his agenda prior to the next international break, fears are likely to ease over any potential rotation, with Agueroโ€™s contribution simply too key for Pellegrini to dismiss right now.

Poyet Rings the Changes
After omitting Jozy Altidore from his first team sheet in charge of Sunderland last weekend, Gus Poyet reinstalled the US international alongside Steven Fletcher as Emanuele Giaccherini dropped out. The Uruguayanโ€™s decision to shift to a front two proved decisive in a crucial derby win โ€“ Fletcher notched the opener and Altidore earned his first attacking points of the season after teeing up sub Fabio Borini for the winner. Already, the Wearside outfit are quickly evolving from the Paolo Di Canio regime โ€“ just five of the players picked in the Italianโ€™s last match in charge in Gameweek 5 made yesterdayโ€™s XI. With trips to Hull, Stoke and Villa in the next four, the Fletcher-Altidore partnership will be hoping for more of the same after finally showing signs of prospering.

Soldado on the Spot
The Spaniard took advantage of a very fortuitous penalty award to seal the points against an obstinate Hull side. Worryingly for Spurs, they seemed incapable of breaking down Steve Bruceโ€™s five-man backline until the spot-kick was given โ€“ in spite of their host of new signings, they have scored just nine times in the first nine Gameweeks. Soldado continues to have his critics โ€“ three of his four goals this season have now come courtesy of the spot but with a pair of assists also accrued, he has played a part in six of those nine strikes and at least looks a secure starter once again โ€“ something which cannot be said for the majority of Spurs midfielders. Last week Christian Eriksen dropped out of the XI and this time round it was Gylfi Sigurdssonโ€™s turn, with Andre Villas-Boas opting for Aaron Lennon as he continues to search for the ideal combination behind the lone forward โ€“ the Spurs boss revealed after the game Andros Townsend was โ€œokayโ€ after landing awkwardly on his wrist โ€“ reassuring for the 138,000 FPL managers who drafted him in last week.

Vertonghenโ€™s Premium Value
Itโ€™s six clean sheets in nine now as Villas-Boasโ€™ side rack up the defensive returns. Having scored for the first time this term with a goal in the Europa League on Thursday, Jan Vertonghen continued to produce the goods โ€“ fielded at left-back once again, with Michael Dawson partnered by Vlad Chiriches in the middle, the Belgian was awarded the assist for Soldadoโ€™s penalty and also earned the maximum bonus points. His offensive threat is finally starting to come to fruition, with the 7.1 priced Vertonghen now up to 52 points โ€“ 14 ahead of any midfield team-mate and eighth in the overall FPL standings. With Everton, City and United in the next four, though, investment in Tottenhamโ€™s backline may be a little slow in arriving this week.

Michu Drought Extended
In hindsight, perhaps it wasnโ€™t so surprising that Swansea failed to find the net yesterday โ€“ West Ham, after all, had conceded just a single goal in four away games prior to their Liberty visit. Handed the armband by many a Fantasy manager, Michu looked in good form heading into this one after netting in Europe on Thursday evening but another resilient display by the Hammers maintained his domestic drought – itโ€™s now four games without a goal for last seasonโ€™s Fantasy sensation. While faith has understandably dipped, the Swansโ€™ schedule โ€“ allied with Michael Laudrupโ€™s continued tinkering up top โ€“ still indicates reason for optimism; Cardiff, Stoke, Fulham, Newcastle and Hull are five of the next six opponents.

Hammers Resilience
The upcoming schedule is likely to see increased investment in Sam Allardyceโ€™s defence after another resolute performance. West Ham have now conceded just eight goals this term โ€“ only the top five boast a more impressive defensive record โ€“ with five clean sheets already racked up for Jussi Jaaskelainen and co. Home clashes against Villa and Fulham, supplemented with trips to Norwich and Palace in the next five, bode well for those looking to invest; aside from their keeper, Winston Reid (5.1) looks the most secure backline option, though Razvan Rat is down to just 4.5 and has started each of the last five.

Trying desperately to see where it's all falling apart & looking at my capt pics, which have been woeful

    1. Hazard - 16 vs Hull & Villa
    2. Aguero - 10 vs Cardiff
    3. Aguero - 4 vs Hull
    4. Soldado - 4 vs Norwich
    5. Benteke - 2 vs Norwich
    6. Ozil 4 vs Swansea
    7. Sturridge 18 vs Palace
    8. Lukaku 4 vs Hull
    9. Ozil 6 vs Palace

Total 68 pts / 9 = 7.5 pts per week. So, my captain, before being doubled is averaging 3.75 pts per week.

I've been using the "Wisdom of crowds" approach for the last few weeks, just going with whoever is most popular on here. Thinking of bringing Rooney in this week vs Fulham. Thoughts?

There have been talk about Norwich's resilience in the past few weeks and not to expect a "walk over" from Man City. We know Norwich are very hard to beat at home when they are at the 0-0 half time game state, especially against bottom table teams. As shown in table below they are undefeated since last season:

    http://i.imgur.com/4jnKASi.png

Norwich vs Cardiff ended 0-0 FT and was really no surprise to me, and not any indicator of improved defence.

IMO, nothing has changed when they are faced with top 6-7 teams away from home.

2012-2013 Norwich vs Top 6 AWAY

    Chelsea 4-1 Norwich
    Liverpol 5-0 Norwich
    Everton 1-1 Norwich
    Man City 2-3 Norwich
    Man United 4-0 Norwich
    Spurs 1-1 Norwich

2013-2014 Norwich vs Top 6 AWAY

    Spurs 2-0 Norwich
    Arsenal 4-1 Norwich

    AVERAGE GOALS: 2.87

    2013/2014 Norwich (home/away)

SHOTS ON TARGET CONCEDED PER GAME: 5.11 (4th most in EPL)
TOTAL SHOTS CONCEDED PER GAME: 14.78 (4th most in EPL)

    2013/2014 Manchester City (home)

    GOALS (home): 21 goals
    SHOTS ON TARGET (home): 58
    G/SOT (home): 0.46 ratio

Personally I will be putting the armband on Aguero. With Manchester City now outside the top 4 in the Premier League, I don't think they can afford any more slip ups. My expectation is that Aguero will start, and with a G/SOT ratio of 0.46 at home for Manchester City, he is too hard to ignore.

Rooney is a fantastic choice. However, there is enough data to show that Manchester City and Arsenal are both in the elite category at HOME.

        2013/21014 Fulham (home/away)

SHOTS ON TARGET CONCEDED PER GAME: 5.78 (2nd most in EPL)

    Giroud.

Should we sell him or not?

He has delivered so far & he is one of the top scorers in the game.

I would lose 0.6m if I sold him.

Yes, Arsenal do play Liverpool & Man Utd next, but what does that mean?

Arsenal are at home to Liverpool, who have failed to keep a CS for ages now, so if Arsenal do score, Giroud could very well be involved.

Man Utd have conceded the most goals in the top 15 in the EPL, apart from Newcastle, who have conceded 1 more. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ While Arsenal have scored the second most in the league...

Then they play Southampton, Hull, Cardiff & Everton.

4 of their next 6 fixtures are at home.

    Keep or sell?

Fourth highest scorer in FPL this year
      Has only "blanked" twice
Lone striker in team currently top of the table
Arsenal have scored the second most goals (and only one less than city)
Little or no threat of rotation until Podolski is back
      Extremely strong midfield supply
      Liverpool and United will concede
Excellent value (Especially if you got him at 8.5 )

      No intention of shipping him

Hello. I wondered your thoughts on my team.

I have 2 FT and am considering Aguero or Silva,

    Boruc / Speroni

    Clyne/ terry/ Chico / Johnson / Coleman

Michu / oscar / Townsend / rav mo / adnan

    Suarez / Tekkers / lukaku

    4.5m in bank

My thinking is either lukaku to Aguero (and further down the line downgrade defence and upgrade a mid)

    Or

Silva instead of Adnan, more balanced and less changes needed.

I think adnan might get a start v Fulham, and Aguero is so explosive and great.

Will Aguero start v Norwich? Is removing lukaku a mistake?

My mind is in circles (I'm sure joined by many on here)

So, bullet bitten, Sturridge to Suarez is done (cue Sturridge going mental)

Had to downgrade Michu to Hernandez though, my thoughts being Swansea lacked penetration and trickery without him, so think he may be nailed on now if fit.

Does this look ok for GW10, other than the GK dilemma??

Scez (Dav) Toure Ivan Lovr Coll & Chester (both injured) Eriksen Januzal Michu Wittingham Soldado Sturridge Lukaku Still had okay GW with a captain blanking, but would build different team if WC. Midfield too weak, no %&¤¤#Suarez and two def injured. I'm falling seriously behind in my mini leagues and feel i need a chancge. Other option Eriksen, Soldado > Aguero & 6.7 for -4 Anyone ๐Ÿ˜€
