Heavy-hitting forwards delivered handsomely in Gameweek 9 and have come under considerable scrutiny as Fantasy managers look to freshen up their front lines. We also look at the oldest question in Fantasy Football history and catch up on all the action from our community leagues.

Hottest Topics

Reckoner – Early Trees Down has been pondering whether Wayne Rooney is worth his price tag. For that price he wants the prospect of braces and hat-tricks every now and again, but his research shows the Manchester United forward wanting. Read his analysis here to find out which players are the most likely to garner monster gameweek scores.

Sergio Aguero is another heavy-hitting forward attracting attention this week. Agbonlahorse warns that the Argentine forward may find himself substituted off the pitch earlier than many of his new owners anticipate when Manchester City host Norwich at the weekend, though. With a key Champions League match to play just days later, his analysis shows that Aguero is often found riding the pine in domestic matches before crunch European games.

Ahead of last weekend’s games Smarty Pants spent some time delving into the top 1000 in the Fantasy Premier League game. His research shows that among the most transferred out players inthis elite group were  Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure as well as Everton’s Ross Barkley.

With so many bargains in midfield and Romelu Lukaku also delivering up front does team value really matter as much this season? Among those to answer this question posed by Triggerlips were Zepinho who describes chasing transfer value this season with points hits as “folly.”

JohnDavies asked which so-called Comeback Kings among the Premier League’s injury list would tempt the community once they regain fitness. Fred Quimby has his eye on Philippe Coutinho, while Quish_ is ready and waiting to draft in Theo Walcott when he returns.

Finally one of the oldest questions in Fantasy Football popped up again courtesy of Syn3rgy. Just how much is success down to skill and how much is governed by luck?

Community Leagues

In HeelsOverHead’s Worst To First – 2 Million+ Club, for teams with an overall rank below 2 million in the first five Gameweeks, there are now seven teams in the top 500,000. YOLO Toure leads their long march to the top with an overall rank of 156,282.

TorresMagic’s Early Bird League has concluded with LawnDart and Stephen Woods both failing to make the cut. They get the title of joint runners up. His Last Man Standing competition lost 44 managers this week, leaving 660 in a week where the safety score was 54. There are also five more competitions available to enter. Full details can be found here.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix’s Friends Life competition Beric, Daniel and Al Pacino are the league leaders. All three have now qualified for the next round, as have Thomass, TW and Koing Luther.

Those topping InTommyWe Trust’s All Things leagues are La Roja, Chilin Dude, LawnDart, Crouch Potato, Binij and Col Nil Satis. The first round draw for his All Things 50 Quid cup competition has also been made.

The It’s A Long And Winding Road competition continues at a canter with Beric topping the main league as well as one of its seven H2H leagues. The other H2H league leaders are Evs, Gaz Downright, IAmSuarez, Super-Hans, Champ and Adam West.

FFS UEFA’s Beach Soccer World Cup tournament’s first game proved disappointing for the Fantasy Football Scout moderator and contributor dominated Ukraine side who were soundly thrashed by Senegoal. The other winners were Spain, Tahiti, El Salvador, Iran, Solomon Islands, Paraguay and Japan. For more about the competition visit our dedicated article here.

Elsewhere in the FFS UEFA competitions their FA Cup tournament is now down to 40 players who will be joined by 24 Conference Premier players this weekend. Special mention goes to Spike and his giant killing Formby team, which is the only remaining 10th tier side in the competition.

After sitting out last nights marathon game, he will play 100%

Plus he is their best player of course.

I'm taking the long view with Aguero with regards him being dropped occasionally in the future. I'm sure (barring injury) he will be in the top 3 strikers and will score plenty of double figure hauls (Saturday please!).

      Worth it by a mile

this is why owning him is such a pain in' the arse. even when everything points to him starting you still have a modicum of doubt (even asking so who still thinks he wont play' means you do to). you will never ever truly be as certain as you are with suarez.

UEFA should be ashamed of themselveswith their action(or lack of) against CSKA Moscow, who are a disgrace to football and should be banned from the competion full stop. The scenes from a game yesterday which had to be stopped and water cannons had to be used because of the level of trouble is surely enough to show that this will end in tears. Kick them out, we don't need, want or would miss them! http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/30/uefa-fail-again-order-cska-moscow-to-play-champions-league-game-with-partial-closure-after-racist-chanting/

Don't know if you'll pick this up as articles have moved on.

Pilks looks like he's getting back to form, certainly more threatening than Snodgrass (from watching them live rather than stats). Has a wicked free kick if he can wrestle them off Snoddy!

Only player I'm considering is Olsson. Cemented left back position and feels key to everything good going forward. Very impressed by the quality of his crossing too.
