Fixtures

Chelsea square up to a schedule that could potentially resurrect their early season form. Villa and Sunderland meanwhile, can look to their forthcoming run of opponents for consolation as they look to halt a slippery slide into a relegation dogfight. A host of other sides aren’t so lucky, facing a fixtures that curdles the milk in the half-time cuppa.

Set your Season Tickers to stun as we “Frisk the Fixtures” one more time…

The Highs…

Chelsea
If Chelsea’s next three gameweeks were a department store they’d be Harrods (minus any Michael Jackson effigies). Quite simply, they are a top of the range selection, reminiscent of the kind of run they enjoyed to open their season; we all know how that turned out (pretty darn well).

With consecutive home games against Wigan, Birmingham (this game tied to a double-gameweek trip to West Brom) and West Ham approaching, Fantasy investment in the Chelsea squad is surely going to gather pace.

Frank Lampard is probably over-priced in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) at 12.9 but takes penalties and is the only heavyweight who can be relied upon to start all those matches. Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Fernando Torres and even Salomon Kalou are scrapping for the striking positions; take a gamble on one of those and it may well come up trumps, but it would certainly be a risk. At the back meanwhile, David Luiz will continue to rocket in price given that he is ineligible for European matches. He looks the most assured defensive choice, despite his showing at the Britannia, with a little Brazilian flair thrown in.

Sunderland
Sunderland are a bit of an enigma right now – they’ve not scored a goal in over 400 minutes, they may have lost their best defender (no really) for the rest of the season and are a point or two from the safety of the Premier League middle ground.

The fixtures, however, could not have fallen better for them. The next six games [WBA, bir, WIG, FUL, bol, WLV] look very appetising and, in ordinary circumstances, promise returns at both ends of the field. Steve Bruce’s side will need to regain a semblance of form before we can invest with any real confidence however – without that, the Black Cats are a risk.

The loss of Titus Bramble will dent credentials in the clean sheet department but the likes of John Mensah, Phil Bardsley and recent Watchlist candidate Simon Mignolet will still be contenders to consider here.

The strike pairing of penalty-taking enigma Asamoah Gyan and bargain basement loanee Danny Welbeck, are perhaps more likely to attract immediate interest – particularly if there are shoots of recovery on show against the Baggies at he weekend.

Aston Villa
Gerard Houllier’s side stick around then – still boasting a fixture list that promises to deliver an end of season sting. Their next five games [NEW, whm, STK, wba, WIG] have to be classified as one of the best run of opponents around, keeping their squad assets firmly in our mind, despite Villa’s current flirtation with relegation.

The 2-2 draw with Everton had more than a few talking points but most encouragingly for Fantasy Managers, we saw key Villa investments play their part. Darren Bent bagged both goals to flash back up on radars, while Stewart Downing and Ashley Young took it in turns to play provider. Those willing to back a defensive recovery meanwhile can of course also consider Kyle Walker – shaky on Saturday, the raiding right-back remains a steal in Fantasy terms.

Also to consider: Birmingham – a couple of moderate fixtures surround a double, followed by strong run-in to come. Blackburn – the draw at Arsenal was a much-needed boost and now the horizon looks promising; Junior Hoillett certainly presents a decent option. Blackpool – four crucial consecutive home matches will surely decide the fate of Ian Holloway’s side.

The Lows…

West Ham
The Hammers had been on the road to recovery but the nature of the 4-2 defeat to United on Saturday is a concern. The second-half collapse may well have knocked the veritable stuffing out of a West Ham side that continues to face few favours from the fixture list.

Trips to Bolton, Chelsea and Man City in the next four weeks present very sizable obstacles which will require the Hammers to regain defensive steel and for Demba Ba and Thomas Hitzlsperger to provide the quality in attacking terms. Fantasy Managers seem unlikely to throw their support behind the cause.

Stoke
The temptation with Stoke is to sit on the likes of Robert Huth and Matt Etherington for the next couple of gameweeks, with a double fixture in gameweek 34 looming. A trip to Spurs comes next, followed by a gameweek 33 blank. The double header with Villa and Wolves is the key however, and Huth owners may well hold firm with more pressing transfers required elsewhere.

The problem here is that, following the double fixture, Stoke’s prospects remain pretty glum. With Arsenal and City up next, clean sheets look unlikely and Huth will likely be required to add to his already impressive goal tally if he is to offer value. Stoke continue to impress at home and, in these games, we may see some continued attacking profit, but there appears to be far stronger potential to be found elsewhere.

Liverpool
Kenny Dalglish’s men have a faint hope of stealing fifth place and will equally do their utmost to hold off Everton’s charge up the table. The red side of Merseyside face an uneasy run-in however, and will need to maintain results in the face of some testing fixtures.

Two gameweeks at home to Birmingham and Newcastle in the middle of this period might be considered respite, but the four games around them in particular (MCY, ars, ful, TOT) are far from kind to Liverpool’s top five prospects.

Andy Caroll has gained over 160,000 new owners in recent weeks, Fantasy Managers who are clearly tipping the big centre-forward to recapture his consistent form in black and white stripes. Those considering the Geordie striker, and his supremely talented striker partner Luis Suarez, may wish to mull over the fixture list a little more before preparing investment.

Be wary of: Newcastle – Alan Pardew’s side look safe but with United at home and trips to Liverpool and Chelsea to come, the Magpies may struggle to continue their table climb. Man City – two potentially troubling away games sandwiching a blank fixture means lifeboats are being manned for a short-term Fantasy exodus.

Goin for 2-0 Madrid tho. The San Siro is something, but the Bernabau is something else!

Yes, but he might not have missed if he took the 5th one, where a miss didnt translate into a loss... United went first, so when Terry took the penalty it was to win it, rather than stay in it. When Terry missed, the tables turned

Besides its in the Jerkicle Contract. Paragraph 15 Sub-clause 3.

Oh and see Jerkicle Statutory Rules #2

    Foster Al-Habsi
    Vidic Kolorov Kelly Walker Coleman
Barton Fabregas Yaya Toure VdV Nani
    Van Persie Tevez Odemwingie

ah lads you'll get a kick out of this...

Blue teets, constantly calling himself wealthy, rich, Blue blood from the heart of British lineage, basically going on like a toff and insulting others for being poor or whatever, is, in fact (as i previously speculated) completely off his looney bin trolley, what at f**king muppet.

    see here, where he calls me a 'Celtic peasant', as he's similarly tried to insult me many times for being Irish, or called me a peasant, an inferior species etc. etc. or made an issue of how great his english blue blood is compared to everyone else in the world;

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2011/04/05/frisking-the-fixtures-gameweek-thirty-two/comment-page-3/#comment-1523552

Now, see his team ID, , and his name...(this is funny) Is Sean Keogh..
    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=1728425

    Now read this;

Last name: Keogh; this Irish surname group originates from one 13th century Gaelic surname - Mac Eochaidh, meaning "The son of John". Of these various spellings Keogh, with Kehoe and MacKeogh are the most popular, and added together they make up the one hundred and first most popular name in the country! As Keogh, the surname is chiefly found in the province of Leinster, Keoghville in the parish of Taghmaconnell, being named after them. The spelling as Kehoe being the usual form in County Wexford, whilst O'Hoey, Hoy, Haughey and Hough are generally to be found in Ulster. The former taoiseach (prime minister) of Ireland, Charles Haughey, being from a prominent republican family, who moved south after Partition in 1920. Amongst the many recordings of the surname are those of John Keogh, 1681 - 1754, on eof the early botanists, whilst Myles Keogh died at the battle of the Little Bighorn, in America, in 1876. Keogh's horse was the only survivor. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Maolmuie MacKeogh, 1534, the chief professor of poetry for the province of Leinster

Blue Teets, you're some halfwit you know that? laughed at in the extreme, yer dads an Irishman, you complete, utter, unadulterated, tosser!

Oh and ps nice team value 😉

    Gimp.

i wouldn't believe him if he said he was old money most of the posh are peasants anyway like

maggie thatcher - baroness greengrocer, sir jean-luc peasant, gandalf the civil engineer, paxman decends from 1 room for 12 people in a mill, clan cameron, kate middleton is a coal miner, blair's family were common too, boris 'the turk' johnson well he's more german than he is turkish,

then you get all the rest from jwish descent like nigella lawson (and dad nigel lawson, simon cowell, stephen fry, poirot, simon schama, rachel wiesz, michael howard)

you get the idea the posh aren't necessarily old money

My grandparents on both sides were born and raised in Salford/Manchester. I have never met or heard of any Irish relatives and I have never been to Ireland. If I was tho it wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm not anti-Irish, I am anti peasant, socialist, hippy scum that's all.

no big deal, but it needed to be pointed out.

I think right back should probably be Ivanovic. Rafael has improved a fair bit in my opinion but still has a way to go, and hasn't played THAT much. Kelly is another one for the future.

he wasn't even that great against chelsea, he had nothing to do that game as cashley and malouda were so quiet. i thought he was massive in sunderlands oddly large string of clean sheets early to mid season.first 10 games ivanovic, 2nd 10 games onouha, 3rd 10 games sagna imo

Why not? Easily the most improved player in the league. Compare the Wilshere who played at Bolton last season to this one and it's amazing how far he's come.

          Yes he has come far.

Doesnt mean he was in the best 20 players this year.Your pickng the best 20 players of the year , not who improved most relative to last year

Tom Huddlestone improved massively aswell this year......

I wouldn't say Huddlestone has improved greatly, he was just as good last season. I've tried to base it on all round play rather then just whose scored or created the most. I think Wilshere has had a solid season and stepped up in the absence of key players.

But again your missing the point. Its about how was the best 20 players in the league.

Chris smalling has stepped up, improved from last year , matured etc etc.

Your using the wrong basis for selection .

Holden has had a great season and is a likable guy but no way has he been as good as Wilshere. Young has been poor, Downing is a winger, N'Zogbia hasn't been as good as he was last season.

No its much much much funnier and ironic.

Ferguson talking about Rooney. Whatever about his greatness as a manager he really does say utter nonsense at times.

Rooney after his off field nonsense, swearing at fans at the WC, throwing a hissy fit wanting to leave, all the petty bits of agression eg the fa cup game v the amateur team, then elbowing McCarty and now the weekends outburst.

He said this to gazzeta recently. On twitter today. Mind boggling

I've not looked into it but I think it's because.....

They've reduced the amount of teams that get entered and it's based on rankings so top 10 teams I think. Rankings are based on test cricket.

It's a shite rule to be honest

they reduced it bcoz still they cannot finish the tournament in a month...ireland will not be part bcoz they are not members of icc yet which is absolutely sh1t...they have done well in the last 2 world cups and they are better then westindies, bangaldesh and zimbabwe imo...

Yeah I got a good one, I used it all through my 7 seasons basically and it took me all the way to the top of Europe.

It's a 442 with two very advanced wingers. These terms are loosely translated from Swedish so I hope you know what I mean.

      Full backs: automatic
      1 centre back support
      1 centre back stopper

wingers are not as pushed up the pitch as to become strikers, but in the second position behind. mentality: attack

1 centre mid ball winning midfielder, support
1 centre mid defensive play maker

2 poachers up front. try to get players with high speed and high finishing

Remember to give every formation you try at least 20+ games, it's needed for the players to understand it and do well in it.

I played with WBA myself. Played ridiculously much but finally won the Champions League in 2022 or something.

I signed Adam and Grandin from WBA in that game, so keep those 🙂

Oh, tell your players not to do much long shots, it's basically shit. And make sure you have a deep squad because the amount of injuries in that game is pathetic.

I'm killing it with my Catania Elephants, Garg!

Won Serie A 2nd season and flying away with it again in the third. The assault on the CL is still on too!

The Elephants that are doing the business:

        - - - - - -A.Seculin

        D.Adejo Douglas Bellusci J.Angel

        Zuculini P.Atienza (or Stijn Wuytens)

        Torje - - Ninis - - Teixeria

        - - - - - Babacar

All absolutely sick.... and got the next generation of Italy U21s coming through in my colours too.... Fausto Rossi, Diego Fabbrini, Testardi, Ramzi Aya...

just got Carlos Vela too.... very good on Fm2011

      Best I've found

      RB___CB___CB___LB

      __CM___CDM___CM

      WING__________I.F
      _______STRK______

One midfielder set to Advanced playmaker, centre midfielder set to ball winning mid and defensive role, other set to centre mid and support
One winger set as winger attack, the other (Ben Arfa in my case) set to Inside Forward and attack
Striker (Kadlec for me) set to poacher and attack

      Overall set to Counter, Balanced.
One playmaker (in my side its Dzogoev or Eriksen) Target man set, and delivery set to play to feet.

Definitely, the lad is smacking 'em in for fun. First season 21 goals in 36 appearances second season so far roughly 23 in 26. Cost £1.5m as well, bargain.

Is Nasri out for Lamps a good move for gw33? I think I've been convinced to keep Downing. Means I can get Drogba in this week for Rooney and in preparation for the double.

So that Mancini tweet about him shuffling around the team has got me convinced that he will rest Tevez. Especially as Tevez didn't look that sharp against Sunderland.

This will mean I will probably do Tevez to DJ, Bentley to Lampard and bench Rooney.. sound alright?
