Undeterred by last week’s miserable performance from our tenner – I’m going back in for another round with our friends at Paddy Power to back some of my selections from the gameweek’s Scout Picks. Read on to discover where the cash is being blown this time…

Starting at the back, I’ve opted for Blackburn’s Chris Samba’s goal threat from set-pieces, so it’s only right that I back that with some of my Flutter funds. Paddy are tempting us with odds of 9/1 on Samba scoring with a header against Birmingham – I’ll throw a couple of quid their way on that one.

Moving into midfield and we’ve got a good few goalscoring options to choose from. Both Frank Lampard and Rafael Van der Vaart will go into attractive home fixtures with plenty of Fantasy backing – I’ll reinforce that with a quid each on Paddy’s Scout Speicials. We can get 3/1 on Lampard to hit a brace against Wigan, with 15/2 on Van der Vaart doing the same when Stoke arrive at the Lane.

Daniel Sturridge is perhaps as surprise name in the Scout Picks but I’m confident that, given his recent performances, he’ll find the net against the Hammers at the Reebok. Sturridge is yet to score a brace for Bolton but, with odds of 17/2 available on that against Avram Grant’s side, I’ll take a real put on this, placing a healthy £3 on this one.

We’ve combined two of Big Dunc’s differentials for our next bet – look out for his full article later. In past weeks this has been a breeding ground for Fantasy returns, having promoted Bobby Zamora and Adam Johnson last weekend. This time around I’m following Dunc’s sage-like words and putting a few quid on Junior Hoilett and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Paddy are offering 10/1 on the pair both scoring this weekend – we’ll put a quid on that one and another on odds of 33/1 on a Hoilett brace against Birmingham. You can get further odds on Ebanks-Blake here.

As usual we’ll end our flutter by chucking our final funds on our Clean Sheet Accumulator – we can get 8/1 on shutouts for Tottenham, Blackburn and Chelsea in their home games this weekend.

That’s about it. The cupboard is bare. Lose this week and Granville and the kids go hungry (Hungary?). Give generously Paddy.

With the Grand National this weekend, this could be the time to break your Paddy Power cherry. They are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Would anyone tinker more with this team? Already did Kolarov->Luiz. 0m in bank, one free transfer to go which I'm saving right now to get a big Chelsea player in for the double. Playing Barton isn't great I suppose but he's always good for an assist.

    Robinson (Foster)
    Luiz, Coleman, R Johnson (Jiranek, Simpson)
    Nani, VDV, Adam, Arshavin, Barton

    Its gonna cost me 8pts but I have to be pro active to catch my league leader... Unsure about Welbeck but out of all on offer his games look like he 'could' get something from the next 4... Its a little leftfield but would love some feedback before I hit the button.. Many thx

            Yeah that one is tricky. This is the information I have on that game:

            Millwall are without defender Alan Dunne and Leeds are without striker Paynter, both suspended.

            Millwall have 3 wins and 1 draw out of their last 4 league games. In their last 10 home games millwall have 7 wins and only 1 loss. Morison in Millwall is in good form.

            Leeds are good but not consistent.

    Ok, my biggest problem this season was holding out for the perpetually injured Fabregas, either keeping his expensive ass on my bench or fielding a weaker team to have enough money to get him back when healthy. I have moved on.

    Not sitting back, I have made the following transfers.

    Coleman > Walker

    Rooney > Drogba

    Carroll > Gyan

    Took an 8 point hit and have .2 left in the bank.

    Drogba will go up in price tonight according to CTC. I also have the option to keep him for Chelski's upcoming doublegameweek. Carroll's value is leasoned with Gerrard and his crosses being out for the season and he needs service to score. I love physical strikers like Gyan, and Sunderland have great fixtures the rest of the season as does Villa.

    Ok I don't usually do this, but I'm desperate this week.

    There's option A)
    Kolarov --> Luiz
    Chesney --> Begovic
    Coleman --> Jones (necessary to fund the above)
    Rooney --> Drogba (optional extra)

    That's 8/12 points, a lot spent for mainly defensive transfers, but it would go a long way towards helping my defense.

    Then there's option B)
    Which is the same without the GK transfer, playing Begovic this week and getting Cech in next week.

    GW 33 - still not sold on Lampard, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

    Am I mad?

    Drogba is going to go up in price tonight, so you Rooney owners who are contemplating not having an expensive player on your bench this weekend had better move now.

      Well I've just booted Nani for Lampard so I hope not!

      I guess if you can swap players around without hits, then I suppose it's justifiable.

      Interested to find out who went up in price.

      Not one to predict Fergie but if he benched him against Chelsea in the first leg he isnt a guaranteed starter for the CL game. Think Nani will play against Fulham.

          I think he will start, home game and Nani has been on the bench for the last two games. He scores well at OT, I might just be convincing myself he will start!

            At home, the Nanster averages something like 9 ppg. However, Valencia is now in da mix and fix are hardening.

            Nani will rest. But I just can't see him doing well in this game. Fulham is so tight at the back now. I predict him to start on the left while Valencia on the right. Believe me, left wing is not Nani's favourite position.

              I think there's a decent chance he'll start Nani ahead of Valencia. Valencia is still not long back from injury so he might be rested with a view to the game against Chelsea and I certainly think this sort of game - at home against a stubborn defence who don't offer as much going forward - is the type of game where you'd rather have Nani's flair than Valencia's discipline.

    Just had a sneaky thought..

    If I intentionally play Kelly who I know is injured, considering I'm only playing 3 defenders this week will that mean after the auto subs are done I should have 2 defenders, 5 mid 3 strikers right?

      I like the way your mind works but sadly, you must have 3 defenders playing so your benched defender will come on.

      A benched defender will definitely come on (unless no benched defender plays). Guaranteed. I you insist that this will not occur, please proceed. You'll be the first person to have 5 midfielders and 3 forwards playing. You'll be famous!!

      Haven't been on this site for a week so im fairly out of the loop.

      Can anyone explain all the Drogba interest? I presume it's todo with Rooney banned and Torres being rubbish + double coming up but it seems like a lot to pay for someone who isn't guaranteed a starting place.

      Also in defense i have to play one of Coleman, Huth or Simpson. Should be Coleman but not sure he'll get the 60. What d'ye reckon?

        Drogba is showing some form, and I have had my fill of keeping expensive players on my bench with my experience with Fabregas this season. In fantasy football, people tend to over-analyze. You should go with your gut instinct. Getting Drogba for Rooney is the kind of move that will win mini-leagues. I can get Rooney back next week or I can keep Drogba for Chelski's double-gameweek.

          Do you recommend any Arsenal defender?
          Also Ferguson with Lampard to free up funds for flexibility rest of way.
          Waiting to next week also provides option of a Chelsea defender instead.
