Undeterred by last week’s miserable performance from our tenner – I’m going back in for another round with our friends at Paddy Power to back some of my selections from the gameweek’s Scout Picks. Read on to discover where the cash is being blown this time…

Starting at the back, I’ve opted for Blackburn’s Chris Samba’s goal threat from set-pieces, so it’s only right that I back that with some of my Flutter funds. Paddy are tempting us with odds of 9/1 on Samba scoring with a header against Birmingham – I’ll throw a couple of quid their way on that one.

Moving into midfield and we’ve got a good few goalscoring options to choose from. Both Frank Lampard and Rafael Van der Vaart will go into attractive home fixtures with plenty of Fantasy backing – I’ll reinforce that with a quid each on Paddy’s Scout Speicials. We can get 3/1 on Lampard to hit a brace against Wigan, with 15/2 on Van der Vaart doing the same when Stoke arrive at the Lane.

Daniel Sturridge is perhaps as surprise name in the Scout Picks but I’m confident that, given his recent performances, he’ll find the net against the Hammers at the Reebok. Sturridge is yet to score a brace for Bolton but, with odds of 17/2 available on that against Avram Grant’s side, I’ll take a real put on this, placing a healthy £3 on this one.

We’ve combined two of Big Dunc’s differentials for our next bet – look out for his full article later. In past weeks this has been a breeding ground for Fantasy returns, having promoted Bobby Zamora and Adam Johnson last weekend. This time around I’m following Dunc’s sage-like words and putting a few quid on Junior Hoilett and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Paddy are offering 10/1 on the pair both scoring this weekend – we’ll put a quid on that one and another on odds of 33/1 on a Hoilett brace against Birmingham. You can get further odds on Ebanks-Blake here.

As usual we’ll end our flutter by chucking our final funds on our Clean Sheet Accumulator – we can get 8/1 on shutouts for Tottenham, Blackburn and Chelsea in their home games this weekend.

That’s about it. The cupboard is bare. Lose this week and Granville and the kids go hungry (Hungary?). Give generously Paddy.

With the Grand National this weekend, this could be the time to break your Paddy Power cherry. They are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Kolarov & Fabs -> Walker & Lampard (4 points) - worth it?

    Current team is:

    Foster
    Luiz, Baines, Kolarov
Nani, Fabs, Nasri, A Young, VDV
    RVP, Welbeck

Baines, Coleman, Kelly, Nani, Young, and Welbeck not DGWers
Look for quality DGWers to bring in for them.

I am too, but I already have 6 DGWers for GW33, so not light there. I think not having a Chelsea attacker this week could hurt.

Dumping Fabs against a porous Blackpool defense, for a point hit, doesn't seem to make sense. He could easily score as much as Lampard. And Villa doesn't keep a lot of clean sheets either. He may not get any more points than Kolarov.

I think you should stay put and keep a free transfer for next week where it will surely come in handy.

I agree, but I have RVP and Nasri as Arsenal attacking coverage as well, whereas I have no Chelsea attacking coverage, which scares me given how dire Wigan are capable of being. Fabs not at all prolific this season either.

        Funds.

He needs the money saved on Kolarov to upgrade Fabregas.

I dunno, Zaves makes a decent point. Dumping Fabregas now after sticking with him this long is probably a bad decision, but if you really think Lampard will be worth it this week, go for it.

Another option you might consider is replacing Nasri instead of Lampard in which case, you'd save a transfer this week then make 3 next week. Your call.

        Nasri > Lampard
        Kolarov > Walker
        Young/VdV/Nani > Adam

So I've gone the road less travelled this week, dumping Tevez and Nolan for Bent and Malouda - and captaining Nani.

My thought process is a little bonkers:
    * Malouda already lit up all the teams he is about to face, which may give him a confidence the rest of the team lacks at the moment.
    * Nani must be pretty pissed getting benched midweek on the big stage and will come out with something to prove. Without Rooney there, Nani will take a billion shots.

    Crazy?

Everyone here has their own opinion. Some like you are saying that Nani will come out with something big but for me, it is going to be a tight game. FYI I just sold Nani for Lamps. This is fantasy football. Nothing right or wrong, we just do what we think is good for our team. Cheers.

    Robinson (Foster)
    Luiz, Clark, Kolorov (Kelly, Coleman)
    VDV, Nasri, Dempsey, Nani, Young
    RVP (c), Rooney, Zigic

Dumping Rooney, need a better team this week and prep for DGW. 0.5 in bank. Thinking of theses options -

    A. Rooney, VDV -> Lamps, Gyan
    B. Rooney, Zigic -> Drogba, Welbeck
    C. Rooney -> Drogba
    D. Rooney -> Bent (may be too much Villa tho)

I'd go B) man, the only reason it's a worry is because so many have been on about him. But has he really warranted it? I'm sure you've prob got RVP and with bent and a cleanie from Luiz you should still be getting a good score. Wigan are fighting for their lives I for one don't think they're gonna show up and leave space everywhere.

I think order of priority based on value and quality is:
              1. Van persie
              2. Chelsea defence.
              3. Lampard/ arsenal mid.

Just my opinion though. I did buy lampard but already had luiz, van persie, nasri and will get cech.

I brought Dawson in last week and it worked out well. I don't see the attraction of Sunderland. Why does everyone keep going on about them? Ok, they have a puncher's chance of scoring a goal, but their form is brutal and they always collapse at the end of the season I thought?

      Team is fine.

Plain midfield. Look to do Evra > Jones or someone really cheap to free up funds for Lampard.

Luiz about to be transferred in for me.
    Who should I trade out?
    A: Coleman
    B: Huth

(I also have Walker, R.Johnson, Baird)

      Coleman.

I have Coleman, Huth and Kolarov, which one would you lose out of them 3 for him?

Well - Coleman and Huth is the same issue as me.
Man City also have the blank in GW33 with their double in GW36. So it might be Coleman for you too.

I'd go Coleman. Huth has a DW coming up and Spurs are usually sh!t after CL.

I was leaning towards Coleman after yesterday thinking Huth. The only reason I was thinking Huth in the equation is that he and Baird will have no games in GW33 and then doubles in GW34. Which means I won't have any backup in GW33. Coleman is yellow flagged - is he really a chance of missing out? IF so, that really sells Coleman as the best option.

    Hi,

    My Team

    Hart
    Coleman Walker R. Johnson
    VDV Fabregas Nani Nasri
    RVP(c) Tevez Carroll

    subs: Barton Foley Simpson Stockdale.

I want to bring in Luiz - I was thinking this

    Hart -> Foster
    Coleman -> Luiz

I've ridden Hart all season, but Foster has a DGW and Man City does not play. Any thoughts?

Okay, a bit of last-minute indecisiveness. Who would you rather have this week:

Van der Vaart and Tevez or

    Lampard and SEB?

I'm swapping the first two for the second two next week, but can't decide whether it's worth doing it a week early (currently thinking stick for this week).

Nice rank. Hard to give advice to you with that in mind.

Is Tevez worth getting this GW? With their GW33 blank maybe after that?

I have VdV - isn't there issues with him playing the full 90 minutes?

Oh - I see (after looking at your team). You have VdV and Tevez. Now it makes sense! (And now I read your post properly)

In that case yeah - it sounds like it might be a good decision to do this GW or next. I assume they have to be done together for fund purposes.

Yeah, both have to be done together. I'm definitely doing the moves, just can't decide whether to do it this week or wait until next week.

And don't worry about the rank - that's the result of reading advice from people on here of all ranks.

If you have already done Kolarov->Luiz then the two trades cost you 8 points? Looking at your transfer history it is probably more likely you have 1 more free transfer. So maybe better to do next week and save yourself 4 points?

Seems you have a similar defence dilemma (see a bit above).

re: Rooney - he is only out for one EPL game, so unless you wanted to get rid of him anyway you'd probably just bench for this GW...

I've done Kolarov to Luiz this week. Quite a standard transfer.

Why switch out Rooney if you don't have someone you want to bring in? He's only missing one game and is in top form at the moment.

    living in a pool FC

same issue here-- VDV/Bent for Lampard/SEB - 4 point hit for me.

Camzy hasn't made a move for Lampard yet, next week I think.

I may stand still too-rather than expect 4 more points out of that combo. Just a guess on Lamps- the two GW32 dream teams here and at TotalFPL have Lamps, but they have VDV as well, and Rate my team project Lamps as great--

....BUT could Lamps possibly be rested (5% chance--- for Malouda). I give Lamps even odds to score 10 or more against Wigan. I think SEB likely to score no goals, but have a great chance for a goal over two games in 34. I just like Bent (and Tevez, who is due) a bit more than SEB in a single game.

It's definitely a hard choice. Guess Lamps has just played too deep for my taste in the past two or three games (incl CL game).
    Any ideas?

....and I completely agree with your thanks for the good advice others have given to me as well.

So, is Kolarov & Fabs -> Walker & Lampard worth a 4 point hit? I have RVP and Nasri as Arsenal cover, and I may even captain Lamps if I get him.

Maybe Coleman/Kolarov out this week. Depending on what your subs are and what you have in the bank, maybe look to get some more Chelsea coverage. Would leave your front 7 as is for this week. Perhaps Nani/Young out next week.
