With our Fantasy plans placed on hold by yet another international break, the community have had plenty time to take stock and assess the lay of the land. This week, some of the most pivotal discussions have revolved around key transfers and captain choices for Gameweek 12 and beyond.
Our Sunday evening regular catches up with the latest from our community leagues and celebrates a post which, thanks to a geographical oversight, gave us one of the all-time Fantasy Football Scout classic comment threads.
The Hottest Topics
The 3rd Turd has been at his abacus again to analyse the price risers and fallers tables. His excellent set of posts shows that Southampton are the most inflationary team, though his detective work has found there’s a surprise side losing value at the other end of the scale.
The temptation to invest heavily in the likes of Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard after their excellent Gameweek 11 scores is huge but FBA, however, urges caution. He looks at the performance of each Gameweek’s top scoring player in their following fixture to ascertain just how many have been able to deliver consistently – his investigation proved to be sobering reading.
Accounting on Chris has also been looking ahead to Gameweek 12 and specifically the best captain options. Those to come under his gaze include Hazard, Stephane Sessegnon, Sergio Aguero and Suarez.
Casting an eye beyond next week, we asked how the community was planning to tackle the eight games within a month over the festive period. Jesus Navas – Our Lord believes that even with the games coming thick and fast, Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will be spared the threat of rotation. Forca, meanwhile, lamented how last year’s hectic Christmas schedule ‘killed his season.’
The community were also offered a chance to take part in the next few Scoutcasts, with Granville and Mark looking for members to submit their questions for discussion. Among those to answer Granville’s call were King Nil Miss who wants to know why midfielders are misfiring so much this season. Chancing Punt wants the Scoutcast pair to ponder whether centre backs will outscore full backs this season.
Investing in the most attacking sides is a no-brainer, according to The Sarjeant, who this week has been looking at the most attacking sides and their key players. Interestingly he has also broken down the spread of goals by position and has found that, while forwards are dominating scoring at United and Liverpool, the goals are being shared among midfielders down at City.
Finally, The Missing Link entered the Fantasy Football Scout community posting hall of infamy this week with what we have affectionately entitled the most spectacular post fail ever. His comparison of Eric Lamela’s Premier League performances alongside some “fellow Ligue 1 imports” hinged on the Tottenham midfielder’s former club Roma being in France – unfortunately for the Missing Link, Rome remains in Italy. If the community round up was minded to hand out prizes, an atlas would surely be winging its way to The Missing Link, who took the ridicule that ensued in good humour to create our most up-voted post yet.
