Rodgers likely to announce whether Flanny will play before the game? I suppose we could rely on bib threory...would be a treat to ship whittaker for him with my free....

I did warn people buying Aguero to complete their Suarez Rooney Aguero collection that this would happen:

WOW Remy looks good! He's brilliant value and needs to go into my team.

But I can't sell Suarez, Aguero, or Rooney.

WOW Lukaku looks good! He's brilliant value and needs to go into my team.

But I can't sell Suarez, Aguero, or Rooney.

    Soon...

WOW Benteke looks good! He's brilliant value and needs to go into my team.

But I can't sell Suarez, Aguero, or Rooney.

what it truly comes down to is the way you spend the funds gained by downgrading rooney to whichever striker you chose. there is really no gw where you would captain roon over either kun or suarez. however, rooney will surely, at this rate, finish with more points than any of these forwards you mention. and so you must spend that three million, if you choose to downgrade, to make up more points than the difference of rooney to that forward. easier said than done.

Yeah that's the thing, until a heavy hitting midfielder comes along who outscores a midpriced mid more than Rooney outscores a midpriced striker, it's not worth it. You won't get the money back in defence. Rooney's points are much more reliable than most midfielder's points. It's a safe and not ridiculously expensive option.

All in all it's made it much easier to manage my team having Suarez Rooney Aguero up front. It saves transfers to fix defence and midfield and avoids hopping between misfiring strikers, getting burnt on the way.

It does mean I've committed to it until one of Suarez Rooney Aguero gets injured though.

Those "value" propositions are not going to keep pace with SAR. This is Sturridge will keep pace and probably equal Suarez when Luis first came back all over again.

    bottom of last page

so i'm torn between benteke and rooney

right now I have benteke and 2.4 in the bank. I wanted to do benteke >> rooney but I want you guys' opinion.

    benteke:

    Pros:
    Sunderland home
Weimann and Gabby are back so he will get support
I am only person with benteke in my ML so big differential

    Cons:
    Terrible form
Aston villa dont look like scoring much

    Rooney:

    Pros:
    Great form
Anything united do comes through him
United were rampant with Rooney up top and Kagawa in the hole today

    Cons:
Spurs away. City did put 6 past them but they will bounce back
    On 4 yellows.

should I wait one more week or should I make the move now? aguero and suarez are my other strikers.

    team right now
    ming, gazza
    dawson, clyne, terry, rosenior, Bturner
    sess, hazard, ramsey, lallana, januzaj
    suarez, aguero, benteke

    2.4 better spent elsewhere?

Rooney is scoring and assisting. Whereas Benteke is doing nothing.

use it on defense. i would do shaw as you can start dawson after this gw with 2 decent away fixtures - hoping he keeps his spot that is. if you keep it as is you will be looking at 1 or 0 from dawson and 1 or 0 from shaw off the bench for chester who probably wont play.

Okay current strikeforce of aguero, suarez and sturridge. I see a lot of Rooney love on these pages but he has the exact same amount of points as sturridge and one more point than giroud and costs roughly 2mil more.

Sturridge has 3 more league goals but Rooneys assists keep ticking him over. In short I don't see the point in getting Rooney unless he starts pulling away from the others.

united attack has been much better over the last handful of gws compared to how they started off the season. he has found himself again under moyes and is playing as well as he ever has. sturr got his little one goal 2 or 3 bap games with pool winning squeakers while suarez was out for being a cannibal. since suarez has been back there is no question that he impacts sturr negatively in the fpl game. giroud is fine, and a good shout at ars attack, but passes a lot for a striker and hasnt found net a whole lot. rooney has just been providing consistent returns both from his set piece deliveries and in open play - with or without RVP in the lineup. he is worth it.

i recently downgraded ozil to fund rooney and couldn't be happier. while ozil is world class he was basically the same price as rooney and delivering half the returns. there are other ways into arsenal attack while we cannot say the same for united, unfortunately, given their dire midfield. all food for thought in the end.

    Fun Thought

Just imagine if the real managers were playing FPL. They could totally feck with us. For example Pellegrini could decide he needs a differential in Dzeko and nail him on with starts. Then when the bandwagon is rolling he could switch back to Negredo and give everybody a shock. LOL. Endless possibilities.

the difference is lukaku relies entirely on service from those surrounding him while rooney can provide and receive. luk blanks @cpl and that is a huge problem for me. with the lack of returns from mid, a two pointer from your forward this season is an issue. rooney all the way.

would certainly prefer this to losing rooney for lukaku.

mirallas a fine option and the price is right. after next three gw looks a good time to bring him in

Yeah..Mirallas get's some bad press but look at his AVG posotion comapred to Lukaku at the weekend, exactly the same. Lukaku plays best when Mirallas is put right up there with him (unlike against palace) and he becomes a great pick in his own right.

Wouldnt a Silva/Hazard and Lukaku be a better combo than Rooney and say Sess?.Isnt this a valid point to counter the SAR trio only motto? Doing SAR definitely leaves the midfield weak. And i am sure the third mid would be somebody in the Sess price range.

a good point surely. again, it comes down to if you think you can use the difference in funds gained by downgrading rooney to lukaku to overcome the point differential rooney would get you over lukaku over the course of the season.

seems to me the same argument of oscar v haz. everyone has opinions, but in the end, flip a coin. both great options!

Given how reliable Hazard has been/Silva is injured/Walcott is recovering, not yet. Also big mids in general this year have been remarkably points shy. Somehow the strikers are hoovering up the goals. It could change though and I am preparing myself for putting more money in midfield.

I think two big mids is pretty decent given midfield points so far.

I see Southampton CS chances as higher than a Swansea CS chance.

To be honest it is very likely both will concede, so it's almost irrelevant, but at least by playing double Southampton any unexpected reward will be bigger.

T'was good to see Kagawa in the hole last night.

Gave a nice glimpse of the player he was when a regular there for Dortmund that led him to be player of the season in Germany.

He moves the ball on quickly and so intelligently, keeping a good tempo and momentum to United's attacks and counter attacks. Without him in there we are prone to a slow monotonous build up which I feel has helped sides stifle us a tad this season.

Dare I say it, Giggs was also important in that respect as he gets the ball to the forwards so much quicker and incisively than Cleverly and Fellaini.

Will be interesting this weekend to see what happens if RVP is back and fit........will he be slotted straight back in......I'm not so sure!

It's his best position. The problem is, once RVP and Rooney are fit they will play and RVP will take the spot up front and Rooney will be played where Kagawa is most effective. Kagawa suffers and is slotted out on the left, if he does start, and people then go on about how poor he is etc.

I agree totally, RVO and Rooney will always likely be first choice with Kagawa slotted out left, however, I'm hoping last night's performance has moved the "Kagawa in the hole" option to become Moyes's Plan B when either RVP or Rooney are unavailable against good sides.

I think he gets a slightly unfair treatment. He's a decent little footballer, and I think would thrive in a 3 man midfield where small triangles (ala Barca) of passing would be a regular occurrence.

Unfortunately with United's style of play, there is a necessity to get the ball forward a touch quicker, and he rarely seems to do this.

Cleverley has gone backwards this season, he's far better than that. He can't play in a 2 man midfield especially with a static Fellaini. He's a water carrier, someone who mops up play and passes neatly.

Totally agree - I don't mind him, he's just simply not at the level we are used to seeing at United, and the 2 man midfield is not his forte.

He would be perfect for a Swansea style of play for example, or under Martinez at Everton.
