Our Watchlist rankings have been updated today to measure our current thinking on player acquisition strategies with just six gameweeks remaining. You can view this now in your right-hand sidebars.

Predictably, Chelsea’s double gameweek boost cements their players as key targets right now, with leaders in three of the four positions. Only Carlo Ancelotti’s rotation policy up front keeps their strikers from threatening a clean sweep.

The dominance continues at the back with Petr Cech and David Luiz topping the goalkeeper and defender rankings. There can be few arguments here, although Birmingham’s Ben Foster and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet clearly offer potential at a lower price point. Liverpool’s Pepe Reina is the big climber in the keeper rankings – he offers a secure route to Kenny Dalglish’s backline which should earn further shutouts before the end of the season given the goal threat offered by some of their opponents. City’s Joe Hart, with improved fixtures after the gameweek double, makes a return to our Watchlist reckoning.

With Luiz topping the defenders, there is very little movement below him. Everton’s Leighton Baines, Villa’s Kyle Walker and Birmingham’s Roger Johnson remain our top back four options, with Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley climbing to fifth spot.

The intriguing option is offered by Liverpool’s Fabio Aurelio who, with injuries to Martin Kelly, Glen Johnson and Dan Agger, appears to have secured a starting role for Liverpool and will offer attacking threat and set-piece involvement over the run-in, together with clean sheet potential of course. At 5.8 in the Fantasy Premier League game he comes at a price but clearly offers a forward-thinking alternative to Martin Skrtel.

Frank Lampard remains the top target in midfield going into gameweek 33, despite a frustrating blank against Wigan last time out. The fact remains that only six midfielders have fired in more efforts on goal than Lampard over the last four gameweeks; similarly only six midfielders have contributed more key passes – of these players players, only team-mate Flourent Malouda has a double fixture this week. Lampard is a big investment, but, on his day and particularly with the assistance of spot-kicks, he’s unquestionably a heavy points scorer.

Blackpool’s Charlie Adam is the next in line with four home matches in the next five gameweeks, while Cesc Fabregas with assured starts over Arsenal’s double, climbs to third spot. Team-mate Theo Walcott claims fifth place, banishing former top spot tenant Nani to a lowly sixth spot in our rankings. Despite a sparkling showing with two assists against Fulham, with his starting role under threat from Valencia – there are stronger options than Nani in midfield right now; he will likely climb again however, once Arsenal’s double fixture has passed.

Charles N’Zogbia is the big climber below him as Wigan’s fixtures improve – more on him to come this week. Dirk Kuyt’s incredible run of 5 goals in as many gameweeks has him continue to scale the rankings – despite a run of opponents that will test Liverpool’s newfound fluency and goal threat. Further down, it’s worth noting that Luka Modric now tops team-mate Rafael Van der Vaart in our reckoning. The Dutchman badly needs to find returns if he is to stall his slide, while Modric continues to hoover Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points to boost his stock. Lower still, the likes of Clint Dempsey, Matt Etherington and Jamie O’Hara need the gameweek 33 blank to pass before they are ready to climb the rankings.

Moving up front and Arsenal’s double fixture maintains Robin Van Persie’s position with Wayne Rooney ranked second – he is set to return against Newcastle barring injury in tonight’s Champions League Quarter-Final.

Darren Bent holds third, with Sunderland’s Asamoah Gyan well placed as his run of fixtures presents ample opportunity for a season end goal glut. The form of Daniel Sturridge, coupled with his tough gameweek 34 double fixture keeps him high in our thinking, as the Liverpool pair of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll threaten. Investment in that pair looks inevitable following last night’s beating handed out to City, although as our earlier “Frisking the Fixtures†discussed, we have some reservations about Liverpool’s run-in.

With plenty of budget potential offered by the likes of Junior Hoilett, Peter Odemwingie, Demba Ba and, in gameweek 34, Bobby Zamora, many Fantasy Managers could be leaning towards two cheaper striker options with heavy investment in midfield once again.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I agree with Drogba. The only argument for Torres is that he's going to keep being thrown out there until he scores so that the investment doesn't look so bad and he can have some confidence going into next year.

Congratulations to Manchester United, well done. They should be huge favourites to reach the final now.

I think Ancelotti messed up by bringing on Kalou for Anelka. I think Anelka had a very good first half. Kalou is rubbish. Yes.

I also think that Hernandez is a desperately poor passer. How many attacking moves did he break up for United today when he tried to link up play? As long as he keeps scoring goals then fine, but if he hits a dry spell I think he will be a burden to the team rather than an asset.

I also think Park is the luckiest player in the world to have achieved what he has with that talent. He's so technically inferior to the other Man United players and his defending in the first half was very very poor too. I think Fergie has got it wrong with him, he'll get away with it this time too because he happened to score that goal but he didn't do anything he was supposed to do, ie run around and win balls and get the simple passes right.

Since I'm at it anyway, how poor is Torres? Not only is he incapable of scoring, his judgement is also completely gone. The Torres of a few seasons ago always knew when to run towards the ball, when to take it with him and when to challenge for it in the air. Today when Ivan etc hoofed it towards him he ran towards it and then it ended up 10 meters behind him instead. Shocking.

Oh, Vidic is great, and so is Wayne Rooney, Van Der Sar and Giggs. John Terry and Alex are good too.

Aaahhhhhhhh now I feel much better.

I don't think it would be much of a problem. The players on your two teams would be completed different, plus you'd hardly make any transfers. Maybe worth sending FPL an email to ask them (if we can get a few ppl interested that is!)

I'm not presuming they'll lay down and lose willingly/at all ... but, it seems to me, that breakout performances and blah days might be separated by a very slim margin at that level.

The subconscious competitive drive to win can be powerful. With 3 Chels guys, I hope you're right, SD.

          Otherwise, it's 2, 2, 2 (x2) for my nearly 26 million in players. #EpicFail.

Depends on where you are, you can get away with it in a swanky hotel - but not in your everyday bar or cafe.
Make sure you bring some imodium to stop the rusty tap water and some dioralyte to rehydrate. Might sound a bit over the top if its just a relaxing holiday but its better to be prepared. You don't want to lose a day of your hols because one of you is stuck on the bog.

Dioralyte (not sure of the exact spelling) is little sachets of rehydration salts to be taken if dehydrated through sunstroke or sickness. They work like a charm, get the blackcurrant ones though as the others are manky tasting.
They are available in pretty much any chemist shop. Get a small first aid kit too, make sure you have Hydrocortisone cream for mosquito bites, general antiseptic, plasters etc. You can pick up a decent one for under a tenner, though you might have to get the hydrocortisone cream separately.

The GF went and got a first aid kit today so we should have all that covered too.

Do you really want a Djourou playing 'Pool and Tot?

          Carroll/Suarez vs. Koscielny/Squillacy?

Tot seeing the door to #4 opened by 'Pool's smackdown of City might actually score, too.

Dj seems a 4 pointer for the two games, tops.

I went Cech/Luiz. Terry and Cole seem most likely to be nailed on x2 ... better men than me can predict how Ivan/Alex may rotate in or not.

Perhaps a Chels supporter can be of more help. Ivan does seem a good bet, though.

    Thinking of these trades:

    GW 33
    Coleman > Walker
A.Young > Downing (generally because downing is more consistent, and has never got less than 2)

    GW 34
    Nasri > Dempsey
And If I feel like the hit Suarez > Rooney (fixtures are a bit poor though)

    Team currently stands at:
    Foster Al-habsi
    Coleman Luiz RJohnson Simpson Smalling
    Nasri Lampard Jarvis A.Young Adam
    RVP Suarez Sturridge

Just done Tevez -> Drogba after his performance tonight (was planning it anyway tbh though).

Now I just need to decide who to bench from the front 8. It's pretty much between VDV or Mereiles, although Nani would be an option if he's not going to play, or get 1 for a sub appearance.

Drogba could well have capitalised on Chelsea's early dominance. Torres is clearly lacking confidence and a CL quarter final when are you behind is not the place to attempt in getting his luck to turn. Drogba has better understanding with Malouda, Anelka etc, too

I see what your getting at although I think it was far from the most retarded decision a manager has ever made.

I think they should just go back to basics, 433 with Malouda & Kalou on wings and Drogba back up top, then Ramires, Essien & Lamps in the middle.

Don't like Ivanovic, could easily be rotated.

Terry isn't that much more expensive is he?

One other thing before I go to bed. Told no #LFC deal with #NUFC for Jose Enrique yet. Other clubs interested. Night

    Wooooooohooooooo
I know he is going to go, but I'd prefer it if he went back to Spain rather than another Premier League club. 15m would be nice for a player entering his final year of his contract though.

So, last week I did not bow to the incredible pressure to get Lampard and I didn't lose much.

Anyone not getting him for the double this time around?

Not me for sure, not wasting my time or points in hits on someone who is on the fourth Value/Form Page.

      Gone for Drogs myself

How does this look to your expert eyes?

    Foster
    Luiz, Terry, Baines
    VDV, Adam, Downing, Nani
    RVP, Drogba, Beckford

    (Begovic, Barton, Walker, Huth)

Any obvious improvements I can make?

Looking good, same frontline as me, and same starting midfield apart from Walcott/Downing. I would recommend that move if you want to take a punt on Walcott doing well on the DGW don't fancy Villa to do much at West Ham.

Know what you mean but can't say I'm overimpressed with Arsenal's form at the moment.

I really want rid of VDV though, so if he does sod all tonight then Walcott may come in for him.

Surely you have to back Walcott to get something against a weak Pool defense and north London derbies have been full of goals recently (and it's that simple fact which keeps nagging me not to bench VDV this week cos he could well sting me)

Im thinking this could be a stonking differential pretty gutted to have missed him up to this point.

Listed as a midfielder gives you effectively 4 strikers on the pitch, he's got 2 games against poor formed teams and has scored 13,9,5 last 3 games.

He's Stoke's in form player, he's dirt cheap and he looks a right bargain. Might even take a hit to get him in with Sturridge next week, and I hate hits.

Maybe heart over head but Drogs looked up for it against Man U and surely now that Chelsea are out of the CL then Carlo needs to grow some balls and start him over Torres to stand any chance of catching Man U in the league.

Roman ruined Jose by forcing him to play Scheva. Carlo may share the same fate, but at least go out fighting.

            One can only dream..... 😉

Brum defender for the DGW? Parnaby for 3.8 has played 90 minutes last two games, might be worth a punt if you're willing to risk it.

It was. Sorry JD. Doing too many things at once.

Think Brum's defence is suspect though so wouldn't want to double up on it.

So Walker. He's done OK for me since I bought him.

I'm not a fan of Villa this season, they've been shocking and quite frankly deserve to be relegated IMO. Thus I don't rate them as fantasy prospects really.

Plus Cuellar is just back from injury Walker is no longer guarenteed starter.

I got overly excited by the Brum and Everton DGWs and it's taken a few weeks to repair the damage I did to my team.

Van Persie (forecast to be out for a month at the time) to Zigic (c) was a masterstroke. Zigic played 10 or so minutes over two games and RVP didn't drop at all in price.

So I'm a bit pickier when it comes to DGWs now.

You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your liiiips...

Does anyone else know (KNOW) that Ba is gonna get a brace against Aston Villa this weekend? If you don't/didn't now you do/did. In other news, I hear Fabregas is gonna blow-up against Liverpool (18 points), and then get 2 assists against Spurs as Arsenal go down 4-2 (Bale hat-trick) at the Lane.

      So sayeth the sayeth people.

"You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your liiiips…"

If you hadn't stapled them open with Ba braces so I had to watch you make the sayeth people from small pieces of plastic explosive and sellotape, then they'd be firmly shut.

When attaching the sayeth people to Fabregas to ensure his explosion, do not attach to knees.
