Our Watchlist rankings have been updated today to measure our current thinking on player acquisition strategies with just six gameweeks remaining. You can view this now in your right-hand sidebars.

Predictably, Chelsea’s double gameweek boost cements their players as key targets right now, with leaders in three of the four positions. Only Carlo Ancelotti’s rotation policy up front keeps their strikers from threatening a clean sweep.

The dominance continues at the back with Petr Cech and David Luiz topping the goalkeeper and defender rankings. There can be few arguments here, although Birmingham’s Ben Foster and Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet clearly offer potential at a lower price point. Liverpool’s Pepe Reina is the big climber in the keeper rankings – he offers a secure route to Kenny Dalglish’s backline which should earn further shutouts before the end of the season given the goal threat offered by some of their opponents. City’s Joe Hart, with improved fixtures after the gameweek double, makes a return to our Watchlist reckoning.

With Luiz topping the defenders, there is very little movement below him. Everton’s Leighton Baines, Villa’s Kyle Walker and Birmingham’s Roger Johnson remain our top back four options, with Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley climbing to fifth spot.

The intriguing option is offered by Liverpool’s Fabio Aurelio who, with injuries to Martin Kelly, Glen Johnson and Dan Agger, appears to have secured a starting role for Liverpool and will offer attacking threat and set-piece involvement over the run-in, together with clean sheet potential of course. At 5.8 in the Fantasy Premier League game he comes at a price but clearly offers a forward-thinking alternative to Martin Skrtel.

Frank Lampard remains the top target in midfield going into gameweek 33, despite a frustrating blank against Wigan last time out. The fact remains that only six midfielders have fired in more efforts on goal than Lampard over the last four gameweeks; similarly only six midfielders have contributed more key passes – of these players players, only team-mate Flourent Malouda has a double fixture this week. Lampard is a big investment, but, on his day and particularly with the assistance of spot-kicks, he’s unquestionably a heavy points scorer.

Blackpool’s Charlie Adam is the next in line with four home matches in the next five gameweeks, while Cesc Fabregas with assured starts over Arsenal’s double, climbs to third spot. Team-mate Theo Walcott claims fifth place, banishing former top spot tenant Nani to a lowly sixth spot in our rankings. Despite a sparkling showing with two assists against Fulham, with his starting role under threat from Valencia – there are stronger options than Nani in midfield right now; he will likely climb again however, once Arsenal’s double fixture has passed.

Charles N’Zogbia is the big climber below him as Wigan’s fixtures improve – more on him to come this week. Dirk Kuyt’s incredible run of 5 goals in as many gameweeks has him continue to scale the rankings – despite a run of opponents that will test Liverpool’s newfound fluency and goal threat. Further down, it’s worth noting that Luka Modric now tops team-mate Rafael Van der Vaart in our reckoning. The Dutchman badly needs to find returns if he is to stall his slide, while Modric continues to hoover Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points to boost his stock. Lower still, the likes of Clint Dempsey, Matt Etherington and Jamie O’Hara need the gameweek 33 blank to pass before they are ready to climb the rankings.

Moving up front and Arsenal’s double fixture maintains Robin Van Persie’s position with Wayne Rooney ranked second – he is set to return against Newcastle barring injury in tonight’s Champions League Quarter-Final.

Darren Bent holds third, with Sunderland’s Asamoah Gyan well placed as his run of fixtures presents ample opportunity for a season end goal glut. The form of Daniel Sturridge, coupled with his tough gameweek 34 double fixture keeps him high in our thinking, as the Liverpool pair of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll threaten. Investment in that pair looks inevitable following last night’s beating handed out to City, although as our earlier “Frisking the Fixtures” discussed, we have some reservations about Liverpool’s run-in.

With plenty of budget potential offered by the likes of Junior Hoilett, Peter Odemwingie, Demba Ba and, in gameweek 34, Bobby Zamora, many Fantasy Managers could be leaning towards two cheaper striker options with heavy investment in midfield once again.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In a pickle...what to do this week and who to move out of my team to get a few more double game week players.

      Foster, (Bergovic)
Luiz, R Johnson, Smalling (Walker), (Huth)
Adam, Nani, Nasri, Lampard, A Young
      Rooney, RVP, (Welbeck)

Only thing I can think of is taking out A Young or Adam but they both have great fixtures coming up. I could do

      A Young > Walcott
Huth > Ivanovic/Terry (Who is' going to start? Did Terry just get left out of the WE because of CL?)

Then next week rotate Nasri and Walcott into Dempsy and Walter to give myself another 3 double gameweek players possible take the 8 point hit and do Welbeck to Zamora for 8 DGW this week and 5 next week.

Any suggestions or guns to shoot down my current ideas?

Terry was rested - he should start every game from here on in you'd think.

Just be careful about taking hits for players you don't want after GW 34.

And don't bother with Walcott, you already have Nasri and RVP that's enough.

Yeah. I don't mind taking hits to juggle around for the week after. Sitting about 16k th overall in FPL and have taken some 29 point hits this year costing 116 points and think I'm better off with them. At least I hope I am, I'd be somewhere in the top 400 if it wen't for those hits so they had better have paid off!

To be honest, even as an Arsenal fan I can't see many goals from our DGW so not much point in having 3 players. You're right! Cheers.

My safe transfer option this week is Huth > Terry.

Does anyone like this for a bit of gamble (4pt hit):

        Huth > Baird
        VDV > Fabregas

I like it but as above, why did Terry sit out of the WE game? To save him for CL last night or just because CA likes rotation?

Why transfer Huth out when he has a double next week?

VDV to Fab makes more sense, but Fab's returns recently have been poor.

Fab was sitting very deep vs Blackpool, and although some have said he could have had some assists, that was only a virtue of Blackpool's ridiculously high line.

Don't expect the same from any other defense in the league, and as such, he probably won't be finding himself in too many point scoring positions I reckon. Fab will probably have to settle for bps for points this week.

          which would you prefer

          Nani+Terry+1.2

          or Coleman+Lampard

Nani is a rotation risk, but so is Coleman!
And already have Chelsea defensive coverage with Luiz

Mine too. Particularly at the moment because I have (of all things) whooping cough at the moment which makes sleep pretty random.

1/100 eh? Easy money but the risk/reward ratio is still too high. A million quid bet might net me back what I lost on the markets today, but I can't afford to lose a million quid. 🙂

I'd say nani and terry too.

And if I had the money I would feel more than confident laying that bet because spurs will be lucky to even win tommorow's leg by one goal. They have no chance whatsoever of winning the tie.

Anyway I'm off to bed now to try and get some sleep. Hope the cough clears up for you.

Took a 8 point hit last week to get in Lampard and Bent. Did not work out too well.

          Team for GW33
          FOSTER
          Baines, LUIZ, CARR,
NASRI, FERGUSON, Nani, LAMPARD (c), Young,
          Bent, RVP
          Subs: Habsi, Dawson, Walker, Odemwingie

Thinking of saving the transfer this week. Any suggestions pls ? Got only 0.6 mio in the bank.

Maybe wait for the captains poll result later in the week, but RVP would seem a better captain option than Lamps to me. I think people are making him captain because a) he is expensive and b) they are trying to justify the hits they took to bring him in.

            I'd save your transfer.

I think after watching Torres last night then him and Zigic (Still injured I think) are the weakest links in your team.

You must be able to assemble a better front three than that, even though they all have DGWs.

If you saw the match last night, Torres got hauled off at half time for a good reason. But if you have an emotional attachment to him then nothing I say will change your mind.

Rio was limping last night so Smalling will almost certainly come in for him this GW, so even if Coleman doesn't play your defence is OK.

But Zigic? I think a decent single GW player will get you higher returns than him.

DJ Campbell in for me, Blackpool will go all out against Wigan...

Rooney to Drogs maybe, but both are rotation risks. Drogba more so but at least he has a DGW. Malouda is a bit meh at the moment so I wouldn't take a hit to bring him in.

I just hope that Lampard ownership stays at 8% so I can bag a hatful of points and make some ground up on those lucky blighters, Camzy and Zophar 😉

Have a good feeling I'm going to clear the magic 100 this week.

As long as it's the right transfers, then yes.

I reckon Smalling will play since Rio looked a bit crocked after last night's match. So keep him.

              Tevez to Drogba makes sense.

O'Hara to Osman? Osman deserves BPs but hardly ever gets them. Pick a DGW mid who you want to keep for what you can afford after the Tevez-> Drog move. Sorry but don't know how much that is.

I jumped the gun this week with transfers due to impending price increases.

Probably try to get a Chelski in. I'm not on the Lampard bandwagon, and would be difficult for you to make funds available, so would go for downgrading a mid prob VDV or Young lean towards VDV to cheaper - Adam is the popular choice, then drop Coleman/ Kolorov for Terry

Ha, great minds. Think I'm either

              A) Coleman & VDV -> Terry & Adam, or
              B) Coleman & VDV -> Walker & Malouda

Which you think is best and why? Cheers

personally would do Kolarov & VDV for Terry and Adam. Adam is home to West Ham next, almost everybody owns him, if he gets his obligatory home BP's and sneaks an assist or two, maybe even a pen, lots of teams cash in. Kolarov ratehr than Coleman, as he has a fixture this week, assuming fitness and selection. He is still OOP and Kolarov is Shite.

I like the idea of Malouda, but there is no safety in it. Terry is just about as nailed on to start every game as is possible. He is integral to meanest defence in the league, and crops up with the odd goal or two. Ivanovic should be assured of RB position, but doesn't seem to be. Cole another option, bit more expensive, but probably about as good value as Terry

I've got Luiz and Fat Frank already, and taken a hit to buy Terry after already dumping Zigic for DJ Campbell.
I'd like to think there's atleast one clean sheet in the DGW, it's annoying tho as Ivanovic tends to get in amongst the goals and assists...
A.Cole would be a good option, tho i can't afford him!

I think you'd be swapping one rotation risk for another.

Again, I've been saying several times on here, don't get dgw fever.

Dgw fever makes you trade or overlook perfectly decent players with good form and fixtures for guys who are rotation risks, are in no form at all and sometimes have horrendous fixtures, but we get them in anyway just because they have a dgw.

And, invariably, at the end of the dgw we're left scratching our heads at how come a load of single gw players have outscored our dgw'ers.

definately bringing in walcott for lennon and drogba for berbatov for a -4 hit...is it too much of a risk bringing in van persie for suarez for another -4 hit?
