While Luis Suarez failed to match the performance and points tally of his devastating midweek showing, the Uruguayan did more than enough to justify the Fantasy armband as his dragged Liverpool to another four goals and three points at Anfield. Elsewhere, Norwich City’s rollercoaster season continued, with a Dutch raider coming to the fore to emerge as the latest midfield differential to consider.

The Game Changer

He’s making it look easy. Just as Robin van Persie threatened to kill off the art of the Fantasy Football captaincy in previous seasons, Luis Suarez is doing all he can to remove the skill and insight required to make that crucial decision each week.

Quite frankly, it’s a brave Fantasy manager that overlooks Suarez. Even on an off-day, his threat to the opposition is so substantial, Suarez almost accumulates points almost through force of will. Today, against West Ham, the Liverpool striker produced a far from vintage display – missing opportunities and being phased out of the match by some disciplined early defending from the visitors.

However, a fortuitous own goal, from which Suarez earned one of two assists, handed Liverpool their opener and that paved the way for another comfortable Anfield victory and another double figure Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points haul for Suarez.

While Aguero, the nearest rival to Suarez’s claim for the armband, notched once again, Suarez is set to outscore him with a sixth double figure points tally in ten league starts. Fourteen league goals and seven assists, over those matches underlines the fact that Suarez is as near to an essential Fantasy asset as any player is likely to become this season.

The Underused

Leroy Fer’s third league goal in five starts must surely bring him to the attention of the Fantasy masses. While we’ve long been acquainted with the erratic returns of team-mate Robert Snodgrass and the budget potential of the tricky Nathan Redmond, it’s Fer who appears to carry the greatest potential for points amongst Chris Hughton’s inconsistent charges.

Owned by less than 1% of FPL managers, the Dutchman’s raids from midfield have been a recent feature of the Canaries play – a benefit of a formation change from Hughton that has fielded Bradley Johnson and Jonny Howson in central midfield, allowing Fer the freedom to support the lone striker. That’s brought three goals for and, even with a price tag of 5.8 in the FPL, it’s surely time to consider Fer as a credible short-term option as Norwich embark on a run of three home fixtures in four: Swansea, Fulham and a beleaguered United due at Carrow Road before the turn of the year.

André Schürrle was the day’s other big points scorer, although his brace at Stoke was not enough to prevent Jose Mourinho’s side slipping to a damaging 3-2 setback. At just 7.1 in the FPL, we’ve long looked upon the German as a potential differential who could offer value as the season progresses. While today’s haul was his biggest of the season, it was also his first league start in six as Mourinho’s midfield continues to tease and toy with Fantasy managers attempting to identify alternatives to the established targets – Oscar and Eden Hazard. In truth, it seems unlikely that we will ever get assurance of a third candidate, even Frank Lampard was rested back to the bench today to frustrate his recent investors.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Why did Mirallas only play 4 minutes against Stoke?

And why has he only returned in 4 games this season?

Deoulofeu earned his first start and killed it. Mirallas and Pienaar will both be under threat from him.

He struggled early. In form now though

Really don't think it is worth the risk. Too much of a downside with rotation

Ok I think I have cracked what I am going to do...

    Rooney & Coutinho -> Hazard & Lukaku...

    Leaves me with this team...

    Marshall
    Evans - Terry - Burner
    Hazard - Ramsey - Nasri - Ravel
    Suarez - Aguero - Lukaku c

    Speroni - Johnson - JWP - Gabbidon

    Dies that sound good?

Leaves me with £1.9m in the bank

It sounds partially good. I agree that Lukaku can match Rooney's score, but still think Rooney has some better aspects of the game, e.g. corner-kick, free-kick.

Decent team is that. Agree with others need to consider having Rooney in with the fixtures they've got coming up.

I'll have Suarez, Aguero and Rooney/Lukaku (Likely to be Rooney)

Bringing Oviedo in an all - bargain!

Suddenly my midfield is wiped out.

    Gerrard
    Mirallas
    Cabaye
    Kim

Only Ramsey without a doubt and he's still to play today.

Hey Guys here is a brief analysis of some rotating fixtures for the busy Christmas period and into January. If enough people are interested I will post my analysis of the Midfielders and some forward differentials/interesting things to note.
    Defence
    Wes Brown and Martin Olsson/Turner
(SWA, NOR, FUL, car, AST, ful, HUL, STO, car)
    - Wes Brown gathered at least 2 bonus every time Sunderland has kept a clean sheet
    - Olsson has played the full 90 in the last 9 straight matches
    - Even though Norwich have been prone to conceding lots of goals away from home they have held out Stoke and West Brom in front of their own fans
Billy Jones and Ciaran Clark/Ron Vlaar
(car, HUL, CRY, SWA, NEW, sou, EVE, LIV, WBA,)
    - The two sides combined have taken part in 5 Nil all draws
    - Jones has scored 48 more PPI points than Olsson yet has started 2 less games- he has also scored more than McCauley
    - West Brom have won 2 out of their last 3 games against Liverpool and also held Everton at Goodison earlier this year
    - Vlaar has produced bonus points in every away clean sheet for Villa this year
    Ben Turner and Ben Davies
(WBA, EVE, SOU, SUN, CITY, WHAM, TOT, FUL)
    - The two Welsh sides rotate home and away right until GW38
    - Turner has received Bonus points for 2 out of 4 clean sheets Cardiff have earned and is just 4.1
    - Ben Davies PPI is 198-39 higher than any other Swansea defender, even though he has scored a couple of goals he has also missed a few games

Southampton were supposedly playing a weakened team yesterday yet they nearly blew Citeh out the water. Osvaldo seems to have settled well into the team now and looks class, any takers?

So I need to sort out my keeper situation. Currently sitting on an injured Boruc and a soon-to-be dropped Myhill. I already have Burner, so Marshall is out of the question.

Speroni and Marshall are out of the question as I have both Ward and Burner in my team already.

    Any tips?

It was a lucky day for me. I had Krul on the bench coming on for Vorm who I started. This is the 2nd time Vorm has gone soft on me. I'm selling him who is the best option at 5.1?
