With just five gameweeks remaining, this is almost the end of our regular โ€œFriskโ€ of the forthcoming fixtures. From here on in weโ€™ll be diluting the offering, streamlining matters as the Fantasy season draws to a close.

For now however, thereโ€™s still meat left on the bones โ€“ plenty to pick and chew over. Read on then as we sidle up to our Season Tickers and assess the teams with best and worst runs to come over these last five gameweeks. We’re not even going to mention Aston Villa this week…

The Highs…

Wolves
Having missed out in gameweek 33, Wolves’ ascent to the top of our โ€œFriskingโ€ reckoning arrives as a result of their forthcoming double fixture.

Even if you disregard the lure of the double gameweek, their upcoming slate of games has them pitched entirely against sides in the bottom half of the table โ€“ putting their Premier League fate firmly in their own hands.

Molineux meetings with Fulham, West Brom and a vital final day of the season clash with Blackburn, provide plenty of beatable opponents for Mick McCarthy’s men. Away trips to Stoke (arguably the hardest of the six games), Birmingham and a Sunderland side in steep decline, also appear to provide Wolves with opportunities to pick up points and fetch Fantasy returns.

Midfielders Matt Jarvis and Jamie O’Hara stand out as the select choices while, if he can recover from his hamstring knock, Sylvain Ebanks-Blake will join an array of cheap striking options currently being eyed by Fantasy Managers.

Sunderland
Their form is nothing short of shambolic but their next five fixtures present them with the most attractive run-in of any side. Exploiting the assistance of the fixture computer may still be a task too much for an out-of-sorts Sunderland, but if they can revive themselves, the rewards in terms of Premier League survival and Fantasy returns could be very rich indeed.

Home ties with Wigan, Fulham and Wolves (as well as trips to Bolton and West Ham) will offer the Wearsiders every opportunity to lift themselves out of the mire and edge towards a top ten finish.

Strikers Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck remain the key candidates but an injury scare for the latter, plus a statistic which shows just 2 goals in their last six matches, is a concern. Goals and assists from midfield remain at a premium, although if Welbeck is sidelined and Kieran Richardson can recover from his own niggles, the former United man could be a temptation in the support striker role. At the back meanwhile, injuries have ravaged Steve Bruceโ€™s options and, while there is budget potential in the likes of Phil Bardsley, he may have to sustain attacking form to present profit.

Man City
High on life having seen off United to progress to the FA Cup final, Man City now have some fixtures which could see them end their league campaign with a flourish.

City have a gameweek 36 double approaching and, around that, their opponents look to provide a very decent platform for improved Fantasy returns. Cityโ€™s run-in is bookended by trips to Blackburn and Bolton, which won’t be the easiest of the encounters, but it’s the gameweek 35-37 run (WHM, eve/TOT, STK) that surely warrants maximum interest in Roberto Manciniโ€™s squad.

The likes of Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott and Aleksander Kolarov should all have good potential for clean sheets, while a whole gamut of midfielders ranging from the cheap Adam Johnson (5.6) and Yaya Toure (5.8), to the mid-price option presented by David Silva (8.3), are all worthy of consideration. Up front meanwhile, depending on the recovery tine for Carlos Tevez, a gamble on Mario Balotelli (7.9) could present the ultimate differential for those brave enough to take a punt.

Also to consider: Bolton – a double fixture followed by games against three obliging defences (Blackburn, Sunderland, Blackpool) should see them garner returns. Wigan – finally out of the relegation zone and now with fixtures ahead of them that should keep them safe. West Brom – get the Spurs trip out of the way this weekend and the Baggies should coast to safety with strong Fantasy returns looking a possibility.

The Lows…

Everton
Unbeaten in over two months, David Moyes’ men are going through their seemingly annual second half of the season rise. Not long ago we were witnessing the Toffees down in the doldrums but, after a superb run of form, they can now be found safe and clear on the edge of the European qualification spots.

Given their last five fixtures, their run of form couldnโ€™t have been better timed because sustaining their unbeaten run looks set to be an almighty task. Everton have three games against top of the table sides (United, City and Chelsea), plus two away days against resurgent teams from the bottom half (Wigan and West Brom). Leighton Baines, Leon Osman and Jermaine Beckford have all been relative bargains of late but their owners may be forced to look elsewhere if the Everton ship shows signs of rocking in these choppy waters.

Arsenal
With the White Hart Lane trip approaching on Wednesday evening, Arsenalโ€™s double-gameweek is now out of the way and we can begin to consider their assets on a level playing field.

An examination of their remaining fixtures reveals that the Gunners now face stern tests from here on in, with defensive returns in particular, looking in real danger. That could draw the sting from Arsenal and force strong attacking returns, but, given Sundayโ€™s evidence, confidence is far from flowing through Arsene Wengerโ€™s squad right now โ€“ for once, attacking ideas seem lacking.

Some big Fantasy fees will have been spent on the likes of Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in recent weeks but, with a crunch home tie against United and three sticky away days at Bolton, Stoke and Fulham to come, it might be time to consider banking those Arsenal riches and redistributing the attacking funds.

Man United
Unitedโ€™s easiest remaining fixture appears to be the Blackpool clash at Old Trafford on the final day. At this point however, United could very have the title already wrapped up and end up playing a skeleton squad ahead of a potential Champions League final. Aside from this game, Alex Fergusonโ€™s side have opposition that will make them work for their title.

Home games against Everton and Chelsea will certainly provide two of the sterner challenges faced at Old Trafford this season, while trips to rivals Arsenal and a Blackburn side who can put up resistance at Ewood, offer little encouragement for investment. With Champions League involvement still a factor โ€“ we can surely expect rotation across the side โ€“ add that to their testing scheduled and suddenly Unitedโ€™s assets begin to lose their shine.

Be wary of: Chelsea – games against Spurs, United and Everton means that Chelsea’s run-in isn’t the brightest. Spurs – they’ve got three very good fixtures in the next five weeks, but three very hard away days (Chelsea, City and Liverpool) in consecutive gameweeks that slip us a note of caution.

Am I the only one thinking the decisions to be made re gw 34 & the correct combo of Ful/Wolves/Stoke/Bolton players is really stresful?

I just can't figure it out and doubt if it will become clearer towards the end of the week...

I have this fear of getting Zamora and then Dempsey comes off...Walters of Etherington...Jarvis/ohara...

All I need is VDV hitting form vs Arsenal and then the cat is among the pigeons.

Yeah, it's a bu*ger. And not the Mcdonalds sort.

I'm tempted with Zigic & Fabs -> Drogba & Etherington (4 points), but then that gives me the headache of who to bench from my front 8?

VDV, Nasri, A Young, Adam, Etherington
      Drogba, RVP, Welbeck

      I guess Nasri/Welbeck?

You now what's going to happen...Nasri will destroy Bolton while on your bench. It's been so frustrating with him. He NEVER does anything while in my team, but just let my rivals get him. Same with Walcott.

If you go that route, rather bench Welbeck. He has Hamstring inj anyway.

Hhmm, you don't have any Chelsea attacking cover and Drogba is in form, so it makes sense. Plus your rival don't have him.

        No love for Walters? Fulham?

I'm struggling to see who I drop for dgw'ers.

Front 8 is Adam, Nani, Lamps, Jarvis (c), VdV, Drogs, RVP, Zigic.

I could drop Big Rog for a Fulham def but I don't see any value in any of the dgw defs, so it'd have to be an outfielder.

VdV to Dempsey or Adam to Walters is the best I can come up with (I want to do Harper to Schwarzer too).

At least I have Huth and Jarvis already.

But all my existing attacking players all have tasty matchups this coming gw.

Id say you would need to throw the dice with gw 34/36 doubles. You already have VDV & kolarov so it's a start. Only chance you have.

        Keep money for tevez/rooney

Hmmm, yeah good options there too. You think Nasri & Zigic -> Etherington & Zamora is better than Fabs & Zigic -> Etherington & Drogba. Still gives me the headache of who to bench this week mind...

              Maybe Fabs + Nasri --> Dempsey + jarvis/ethers/walters?

Free up cash and you cover your 4 pt hit basically. You can keep fulham / stoke player for Sun/Blackpool next week. Think that's what I'm doing.

Hopefully VDV takes longer to hit form and Tevez gets more time to recover(or not)If I can then save a trsfr in gw 35 i can do 2(free) for the double in 36.

On Man City players though I'd rather transfer in on gw35 so that I can get the home game vs West Ham as well.

For your team jinswick, I agree I think at this stage you have to go all out on the DGW players as that's your best bet so try to maybe pull in two more for this gw (captain one of them) and then have at least 4 for gw36 (3 City 1 Spurs is my plan)

Plan was to get yaya/johnson/silva in gw35. Im just worried with City reaching final that it might effect team selections.

I'd prefer waiting for Tevez to be fit in gw36, but he prob won't be 100%(or risked)

That would leave some serious cash on the bench and no Chelsea/Man U attacking coverage. Hmmm. O'hara is appealing also given he's on pens and has the best upcoming fixtures.

Given Dempsey isn't on pens and Ethers may be distracted with the cup final, perhaps O'Hara and Drogba are the ones to get this week.

                Which is best:

                1) Stockdale, Fabs & Zigic -> Begovic, O'Hara & Drogba (8 points)
                2) Fabs, Nasri & Zigic -> Etherington, Dempsey & Drogba

Is Murphy on Peno's for Ful? Not sure if O'hara is on peno's... Depends if Milijas plays.

Personally I won't waste a trsfr on a keeper(even one that has double)

I like Walters, especially as no one in my league will have him. Jones came off with injury vs Bolton. I suppose it means Walters might be even further forward? I just don't want another boselli!

                  I would select no 2

    Morning Chaps ๐Ÿ™‚

Thinking about early traades (wed night) as away on weekend and limited web access.

Dempsey in seems like a must, but for who Nani? Nasri?

My other dilema is whether a 4pt 'hit' is worth it... was actually toying with Zamora (maybe sturridge) for Chico?

    Any Thoughts?

PS - Yes, I still have Torres ๐Ÿ™

Hey evs, I'd prefer duff over dempsey but with his fitness doubt probably best go with yank for an early trade.
Why get rid of chico when you have torres? ๐Ÿ˜› Torres to zamora or sturridge sounds good, zamora seems a better bet for just this gw but sturridge looks much better for the rest of the season.

        Hey Champ, how goes it?

The Torres thing is killing me, but they have WHM next week (from memory), and united some tough weeks ahead (EVE, ars, che) plus he is rotation risk.

I may just do the 1 trade, but thin on dgw players only 3 incl. Demspey.

Saying that I wouldnt want to be overloaded with Wol, Bol, Ful or Stoke players week on week . . .

      Hi Evs,

I've got Dempsey already so I'd sanction that transfer, albeit Zamora is biting into his hitherto above-average goal-scoring record this season. Who to bin? Nasri just is just not doing it at the moment (and hasn't since the New Year) and Nani must to be on-and-off the bench material with the Champions League in mind.

I'd probably do Nani > Dempsey (with Nasri a certainty to play v Bolton) and Chico > Sturridge - although Bolton don't have great fixtures for the dgw and will be a little flat after getting stuffed in the FA semi. Saying that Sturridge should make the difference for them and he's creating chance after chance when he gets the ball.

I'm also considering O'Hara as Wolves have really nice fixtures for the dgw and just after.

Torres? - Torres > Drogba for the West Ham game ๐Ÿ˜‰

    luiz, kolarov, walker

    lamps, malouda, vdv, adam

    sturridge, suarez, rvp

    foster, nasri, coleman, kelly

With no trades my team looks good for this week, great fixtures, but only 1 dgw'er. Would you guys bother getting any in with this team? I'm considering nasri -> duff/dempsey and benching adam or kelly -> salcido and benching walker/kolarov.
Might be better to roll over a freebie and set up for city/tot dgw?

That's why ethers/walters with a double this week is tempting since they play Blackpool next week.

yeah I think Dempsey will score a good bit more than Adam and at least he has 2 games to do it in rather than one! I forget exactly what fixtures fulham have but i am sure one of the games is vs wolves and I fancy a few goal for fulham there and maybe a cs!

Perfect timing to change Nani if he doesn't start.

I think Nani might play tonight and be rested on Saturday...that's what I'm hoping anyway. If he plays tonight I'm definitely getting rid...I can't see Fergie benching him for two consecutive games.

I have decided to leave all the DGW players alone, and I have transfered Adam to N'Zog and Welbeck to Carroll. Am I mad?

    Team for this GW is:

    Cech
    Walker Jones Luiz
    Fabs Lamps Nani Walcott
    RVP Carroll Rooney

Bench: Harper N'Zog Johnson R Kelly

    Comments welcome

bulked up on Arsenal attack alittle.. I'd almost be tempted to punt on N'Zog over Walcott.

Yeah, it was hard to leave one out. Hopefully an injury helps make the selection easier.

I just don't see the long term gain to bring in DGW for hits.

Nice team value. Slow down on the hits cowboy! You could have been right at the top with 30 or so less transfers.

BTW, have you looked at the fixtures for the double gw players? Def better options than Walcott IMO.

Yeah, its not been my finest year in temrs of planning. Walcott is a hangover from this week, but he is likely to explode with points at any time, and quite fancy him against Bolton.

Appreciate the comments though. Maybe Dempsey for Walcott?

Stumped who to transfer out this week. Have only the one freebie

    Al habsi / Foster
    Coleman / Smalling / Luiz / Carr / Walker
    Adam / Walcott / lampard / Fabregas / Young
Torres / Van Persie / Carroll

I just know that as soon as I get shot of torres he will score a hat-trick, the same for cesc

Am having big doubts about Adam's potential for the run in, along with walcott, so

    adam > etherington
    walcott > dempsey

    for a 4 point hit?

Bobby Z would be interesting but I can see Carroll ripping Brum a new one this weekend

    Garrgghh

      Both solid moves really.

Like you I have Adam and I'm worried about him for the run in. Blackpool look done and Adam looks disinterested.

Etherington is on pens and at least has 2 games to try and outscore Adam.

Dempsey for Walcott looks pretty much like a no brainer to me. Seriously considering Dempsey for VdV in my team although will prob just do Adam for Ethers or Walters.

I also think Schwarzer will be a good keeper to have this weekend too.

    Do I go for:

    A. Adam + Bardsley > Dempsey + Huth (4pt hit)
    B. Downing + Bardsley > Dempsey + Huth (4pt hit)
    C. Either of the above with Zigic > Sturridge (8pt hit)

I have chosen a really bad time to go on holiday for a fortnight, just as it's getting down to the crunch in my mini-league!

First time I've found this site! It's amazing!!!! This is my first season as a fantasy manager so I'm struggling a little to be honest.

So far I'm in one league of 9 people and I rest at 4th on having clawed my way up from 9th.

    1st is on 1566
    2nd is on 1507
    3rd is on 1453
    4th is on 1450 (That's me!)

So, that being said, I'm going to put advice to the test ๐Ÿ˜€

I'm looking at the run in and think a double match GW34 means looking at getting Dempsey in and giving him the armband.

    My mid and strikers are:

    Nasri, Meireles, Adam, Lampard, Walcott
    Anelka, RVP and Rooney

There is talk of Adam suffering a bad foot and so I was thinking getting him and Meireles out for Etherington and Dempsey in.

    Any thoughts?
