Carlos Tevez is rated as 50:50 for a return to action in the FA Cup Final according to reports surfacing this morning.

The striker’s hamstring tear is currently being assessed by Argentina’s team Doctor in Milan and is due to return to Eastlands to start his rehabilitation although, as yet, no date has been set for Tevez’s arrival back in Manchester. Today’s articles suggest that Roberto Mancini is due to consult his medical staff to receive an update on the situation and to make a decision on whether Tevez should make his return from Italy this week.

The latest reports appear to confirm the initial prognosis that had estimated a four-week absence for Tevez; despite the player’s own desire to play in the final, it’s clear that he is set to struggle to make the Wembley date. Realistically then, with speculation also surrounding his future at the club, Tevez may have made his last appearance for City.

For Fantasy Managers the absence of Tevez could prove significant – particularly when you begin to assess City’s end of season run-in and the prospect presented by Mario Balotelli.

City face a tricky trip to Ewood this weekend, but follow that with a run of three home matches in four with West Ham, Tottenham and Stoke all visiting Eastlands. The absence of Tevez would seem likely to cement a starting role for Balotelli – a realistic consideration up front for a Fantasy Premier League fee of 7.9. The young Italian is a far from a reliable prospect given his tendency to attract controversy and bookings but, with Edin Dzeko struggling to settle in the Premier League, Mancini’s faith in Balotelli to lead his attack looks solid.

Balotelli has scored 6 goals in 10 Premier League starts with a single assist and 6 FPL Bonus Points to his name. With 5 appearances from the bench, the striker has picked up 5 yellow cards and a red in his first season in the league. Always keen to be involved from set-plays, Balotelli would also seem likely to be granted penalty-taking duties with Tevez out of the side having already converted from the spot this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        Meh. He's not that...

7.9 million for a forward leading the line for a top four club, who takes penalties and has excellent fixtures - as well as a double - is an absolute bargain!

Plus it will be a flair pick.

I am slightly tempted by him, in for Bobby Z next week. I was impressed with him on the weekend, thought he had a good game. Although (I think, in all competitions) he's got more cards than goals for City which puts me off a tad.

I'm considering him too, he may not have been great so far, but he had a blistering shot against United at the weekend and a couple times he has bagged a brace / + and quite conceivable he can do so again.

If we knew Tevez would miss the whole of the DGW then Balotelli looks an even better option.

Still have a sneaky feeling that Kolarov will take penalties though.

He's definitely got goals in him, i think he's the most talented young player in the league. Dzeko is a worry though, he started against Liverpool.

I guess Kolarov taking them isn't impossible, I don't think he was on the pitch when Balotelli scored a couple against Villa. Either way, I'll be happy because I'll most likely have both.

If Tevez is out, then surely Balotelli is nailed on up front. Dzeko has been absolutely awful so far, and they were in excellent - Balotelli especially - at the weekend against Utd, without Dzeko.

I think Balo is def on pens, he took both well when he scored that hattrick earlier in the season, but can't see who other than the Kol would take them if balo got suspended, which could easily happen.. I hope not though cos I think I'm gona hop on this bandwagon next week. Would have to be to take Rooney out though - is that just silly?

I don't think so. There's a 4 million difference in price, so you can upgrade elsewhere, and City's fixtures are much more preferable than Utd's, both in quality and quantity.

Barry is another option for penalties. He took them at Villa, and I think he took a couple last season.

Thanks, that gives me confidence to do it! However I don't really care about the extra money so just comparing them on returns, but still balo should do better. good point on barry, yeah he'd probably definately take them.

    Morning all,

So Mr.Balo has been in my thinking as well. I think his wink to Rio just made me want him in my team for the hell of it. Got a big lead in my mini-league so can risk a little gamble. Hows this look?

    Bego - Foster
    Terry - Luiz - Salcido - Bardsley - Simpson
    Nani - Adam - VDV - Young - Jarvis
    Drogba - RVP - Balotelli

Currently have Nasri and Odem instead of Jarvis and Balo but fancy a change up!

Or should I just do Jarvis this week as will have a prob with who to bench?!!

On twitter if you put #before a word or phrase, it means that the word/phrase is coloured blue and becomes a hyperlink, and when you click on it, you can see anyone else on the whole of twitter who has used that word/phrase in a tweet.

I'm tempted to bring in a Wolves midfielder for the rest of the season but not sure about the pros and cons of Jarvis and O'Hara. I haven't seen Wolves play much this season so all I've managed to pick up is that Jarvis is on corners. Any advice?

Judging by the spread of opinion on here it looks quite coin-tossy, I'm leaning towawrds O'Hara but wouldn't presume to be able to offer a convincing inducement for anyone else to do likewise.

Should I get rid of Torres? I think I should... Maybe Drogs will get injured tonight or Torres will come on and grab a brace. If neither of those happen Surely I should get rid, but getting rid of a fit World Class striker before he plays West Ham (H), just seems wrong quite frankly.

I'm in the same boat, it would be so much easier if Chelsea didn't have West Ham at home this week as I'd be getting rid 100%. It is really hard to tell, I don't think he'll start tonight and we'll probably have to make a risky decision before the weekend.

That's what I kept telling myself when I had Torres. I couldn't get rid of him because he had fixtures that looked promising. Bottom line is, he has been completely useless (from a fpl perspective) for too long. Cut your losses, I did a few weeks ago and never looked back.

I've watched most of the Chelsea games myself, I can't seem him getting a high score, maybe just the odd goal. He would be lucky to get 60 minutes at the moment

What about the young lady friend you were asking for advice with a couple of months ago?

                Great work young man!

Most of the women I know end up dead/tortured/really dead and America doesn't even thank me for it, so it's nice to hear a happy story.
