Edin Dzeko does a โ€œTorresโ€ at Ewood Park, as the big-money January signing finally breaks his Premier League scoring duck to put Man City firmly in the driving seat for fourth spot. Roberto Manciniโ€™s side not only win on the road for the first time in 2011, they chalk up an impressive fifteenth clean sheet of the season in a fairly routine victory. Blackburnโ€™s winless run stretches to ten games as the threat of relegation looms larger by the week for Steve Keanโ€™s hopelessly out of form side. Hereโ€™s the notes from gameweek 34’s final match…

No Mistake From Roberto
After his sideโ€™s 3-0 mauling at Anfield in their last league match, Roberto Mancini admitted he had โ€œmade mistakesโ€œ. The Man City boss failed to elaborate but itโ€™s a fair to assume he was alluding to the decision to bench both David Silva and Nigel De Jong. Mancini re-installed the pair to Cityโ€™s starting XI for the Blackburn trip, with Yaya Toure moved into an attacking midfield role again as a result of De Jongโ€™s return.

Mario Balotelli led the line for City, with Dzeko -a starter at Liverpool- used as a sub instead, though the latterโ€™s goal will give Mancini food for thought in the continued absence of Carlos Tevez, particularly as Balotelliโ€™s adaptability meaning he could be moved out wide in a role behind the Bosnian for the upcoming gameweeks.

Dzeko was, not surprisingly, hugely relieved following his first league goal…

“I think it is a new beginning for me…I have confidence in myself but sometimes it is difficult. I am not the first one that didn’t make the best of a move. I know in future there will be much better games for me.”

Mancini will surely look to harness Dzeko’s newfound confidence and a start at home to West Ham next looks a strong possibility.

Fluid in Midfield
Adam Johnson made his third consecutive start as Mancini set the team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Johnson and David Silva were given license to roam; the pair swapped wings throughout, and their movement created plenty of problems for Blackburn. Silva, in particular, was at the hub of everything good about Cityโ€™s play and quite rightly picked up the 3 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points, though whether he keep the dubious assist is another matter altogether.

It was interesting to note that Johnson was the one who made way for Dzeko in the second half, as Balotelli switched to wide left. City will undoubtedly be subject to plenty transfers-in over the next few days, with a home game against West Ham this upcoming weekend following by a double gameweek (eve & TOT), and their midfield will come under the microscope in more detail in an article later this week on these pages.

Solid at the Back
Joe Hart’s allayed fears of a back injury to start between the sticks for City and enjoyed a fairly comfortable evening as the City defence kept Blackburn at arms length. City’s clean sheet justified Hart’s position at the top of our Watchlist rankings, while Scout Pick Aleksandar Kolarov also fetched defensive returns. With West Ham and Stoke due to visit Eastlands, plus the double fixture in gameweek 36, City’s back five remain strong investment options. Kolarov still looks the best route to Fantasy points given his attacking potential, although the return from injury of Micah Richards will give Mancini the option to switch Pablo Zabaleta to the left to threaten the Serb’s starting role.

Kean is Struggling
Kean’s stint as Blackburn boss may have got off to a positive start -three wins in the first seven games- but that winning habit is long gone. Itโ€™s four points from a possible thirty now and the clubโ€™s owners must surely be having second thoughts over the shock decision to sack Sam Allardyce back in December, when the club were sitting in 13th position.

One point off the drop zone with four games to go and with the clubโ€™s most impressive player of late -David โ€œJuniorโ€ Hoilett- still sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Kean needs his players to respond quickly, before itโ€˜s too late. Blackburn look devoid of any real spark right now and have scored just one goal in their last four games. With their remaining fixtures reading (BOL, whm, MUN, wol), the Lancashire outfitโ€™s chances of survival donโ€™t look the great.

Yeah I am little bit cautious regarding hits. My last hit was in 11.25 to bring Dempsey in order to have joy watching the game in Wednesday. And Lamps captaincy was changed. Will see how that worked out.

Thanks Inalize and about hits I am not against them, they could pay off. Its all about who r u going to transfer in and who u would bench instead. A lot of the times a hit is made and benching headache is following. Not good thinking IMO.

Have stuck by Nani for this long but with the next two fixtures I think it may well be worth getting Silva in for him...could easily see Silva benched for one of the three games though, so I'm hesitant as to whether it'd be worth doing it for a potential hit this week.

In your position I'd keep Nani as he's your only United player (I have Rooney making offing Nani easier). He can do damage in big games and may well not start the CL semis making him almost a certainty to start if that is the case. Young is a strange one, could score big against Wigan and maybe even Liverpool (thereby persuading them to buy him lol), but Nani in those final two fixtures seems like almost a sure thing and if you swap him out I don't think you'll have the funds to get him back in.

I want Odemwingie. Drogba or Carroll out? Surely it has to be Carroll if there's any shed of doubt of him playing. But if he's fit, he could really do the business against Newcastle. Drogba.....I'm not sure what he's going to do against Tottenham.

Take a punt on Torres, he has scored now so his confidence will be high especially with Yossi fit again. I think he will start against Spurs as they will want to continue to build on him for next season.

TM - what you think of my suggestion that fpl should rather not award assists that are "dubious" and take 24 hours to review.

Or once given it stands. I just think it will be better than the current system.

Scores are provisional. Don't count your chickens until the gameweek is over. Simples....

They made a mistake & corrected it. Better to give no assists at all & add them later after checking.

I agree with the last sentence there, especially on dubious assists (or non-assists, as is the case here) like the Zamora/Meireles/Silva ones from this weekend.

It's just annoying that they gave him (Zamora) the assist, and then took it away. Although, I'd moan either way tbh. I just want more points!

They want FPL to be a "live scoring" game so do the assists at the same time. Of course mistakes are made. Blame BBC or other media outlets as FPL obviously use their info.

Well then then don't give any 50-50 calls.

I did not see any of the assists(although at first I thought me capt(BZ) got a touch)but all Im trying to say is why give it in the first place if it's a 50-50 call. I'd prefer an assist added after 24 hours rather than an assist being taken away.

no different though really. As TM said the scores are provisional. The zamora one was hard to tell but the rule is simple, if it came off zamora's foot it's an assist or the defender's head it's not. They looked and saw it was the latter. The cahill one was just a mistake as it could never be an assist by the rules.

                  They use other media outlets.

In another fantasy game they still have Cahill & Zamora down for assists & no assist for Dzeko. They are alot more stringent with assists & don't change it even if wrong.

Amazing how they can do such mistakes. There's 2.4 million people playing this game, put someone on it who know the rules. I understand how the B.Z one was hard to tell but this kind of obvious non-assists should be able to spot at the moment.

It's worked a treat for ya. Might be a bit of a gamble from the start of the season when it's hard to know which mid table teams will be keeping cs's. Might be one best left for the 1st wildcard

case in points, stoke kept 1 cs in the 1st 12 gw's this season leaving lots of disappointed shawcross owners. Yeah sunderland next season and villa could be better value then. Maybe even wba will be worth keeping an eye on depending what defenders hodgson brings in.

If he is, it'll be something like Hart, Silva & Yaya/Johnson.

Yaya - Quiet for first 70 mins n then kept popping up around opponent box. Very strange display. Can't rule him out

Adam Johnson - Suprisingly Salgado had him in his pocket. Didn't look all that lively even when blackburn pushed up.

Silva - Stand out performance of the evening. He was the heartbeat of the city side. Dictating play, shooting, crossing etc. This is the guy

The guy coming 19th overall this season knows he won't be winning the overall. Not that close after all.

Yep, is usually a pretty big gap... I'm 15th and still 62 behind leader. 749th best year before though so 2 years in a row in top 100 very impressive....skills

Agreed-Dempsey would be my choice too. I'm finding it really hard to find anyone from City to bring in. Yaya at the moment.

      Prefer Kuyt tbh.

Well, Liverpool have a decent game this weekend. Then they have Fulham away. City have West Ham at home this weekend then a double. Not the greatest of doubles, but still a good chance of points.

Hi guys, I'm protecting leads in all my mini leagues so I need advice on some sensible transfers.

Which option would you consider better?

Silva and Kuyt in for Dempsey and Nani
or Silva and Suarez for Dempsey and Rooney
    or no transfer?

    or
