We had a whole day of session in our college analyzing this movie as a part of our curriculum
Shawshank is so overrated.
Good film, but highly overrated. Not even one of the greatest prison films, let alone best film altogether.
What other prison films would you recommend? The Last Castle, Hunger?
Escape from Alcatraz (Clint Eastwood).
Island of Fire - Shawshank is a complete rip off of this film.
Green Mile & Cool Hand Luke
Not comparing with Shawshank but these are amazing and definitely up there among all prison movies
Green Mile seems a bit generic, good but it's liked too much without actually earning all that praise in my opinion.
Mainly coz of the subject I guess..Very touchy and in the grey area
I find a lot of people I know think it is the best they've seen, literally, but the subject matter is very clear, it doesn't raise many questions either. I liked the Thin Red Line because it did raise questions over what soldiers go through, it showed the reality of war and allowed for ones own decision.

I think it would have been great if had finished with Morgan Freeman on the bus driving into the distance. Was such a studio kop out to finish on a happy ending, the film is about hope so should have ended with the hope of Red finding his mate

Just finished watching first season of homeland and wow that was almost as good as first season of prison break. Is season two as good as the first one ?

Wow...the first 3-4 episodes of Homeland were great and then the series completely jumps the shark. Season 2 is a parody. Season 3 starts out well, but gets ridic in the final episodes. Watch the Americans or Justified, both very. Good. Also another Showtime production is masters of Sex, far better than homeland. Of course can't beat the Wire, Deadwood, BB, or seasons 1-4 of Mad Men...just saying.

Bit worried about what's happening to Chiswell and Chesil beach tonight..Most of you know I'm a full time carer to my son..His favourite place in the world is that beach that is getting wrecked right now..He'll be devastated..
If it's like any of other beaches so far it may be for the good, some of the things they have discovered might make him more interested.

The coast is taking another pounding tonight, given up trying to put fences and shed back together until the spring (about August at this rate).
I take him four times a year...this room I'm sat in is like a shrine to Chesil beach. Dunno if you've ever been but it's got no sensory overload at all for children with special needs..Just sea and pebbles..You can't see anything else when you're sat on it, he finds his peace there.
Yes, we have had holidays down there and the coast along. We only holiday here. About once every five years.
Not a big fan of holidays, but when you have children it's good to give them space to move.

I've got a private email address and then a 'public' one we use for all webshopping, round robin emails, product registrations, &c&c.
We get spam in the public one every day - a lot filtered by the server.
