If you’ve yet to enter our two new cup competitions, we thought we’d give you a final heads-up ahead of this weekend’s qualifying round. There’s the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, in addition to the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, with both set to take place over the season run-in.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.

Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.
Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Nobody's going to like that, so I'll ask a serious question:

Aston Villa have a good run of fixtures coming up, and I'm thinking of bringing in Nathan Baker to free up Aguero cash.
However, Ron Vlaar and Tony Luna are apparently healthy and active now. Ciaran Clark also comes and goes without much notice.
Do any AV supporters want to comment on:
      - assuming all defenders are healthy, would the same 4 defenders play every week? Or is there rotation by design?
      - If they do favor the same 4, week in week out, which 4 ?

You're a Pool fan correct? Any reason him over Sturridge?

Sturridge has been playing through the center and feeding off all Gerrard's lovely though balls, where as Suarez has been stuck on the bloody wing..

At home, I think Suarez is still the boss, as we'll just go all out attack. I'd captain Sturridge for away games as as you say, Sturridge is the more central figure.

    Repost for the new article...

It's impossible to decide who to take out... I don't have enough information...

Evans is still doubtful, but will he come straight back in to the team when he's fit, and will I even want him considering how shite United are?

Fabio has seemingly lose his place to Cath-Theophile, but could come back in to the team, who knows, they have a good fixture in GW29, so I don't want to lose a player who has a game if he is starting...

Eriksen I have been patient with when everybody else seems to have sold him, so I almost feel like I should to be repaid, which will surely only cost me more pain... but once again he has a fixture in GW 29, so I am unsure of losing him too...

This is the hardest decision I've had to make this year... but I have to make a transfer or I'll lose it (2FTs)

Please... Mr correct transfer, reveal yourself to me... 🙁

      Hold Eriksen until next week

Shaw, similar CS chances, more attacking potential...

I've just realised, if I do Fabio > Olsson this week...

I will have exactly 11 players next week, BUT but with 2FTs to use...

    Adrian
    Cahill Kos Ward Olsson (Evans)
Hazard Eriksen Mirallas (Mata and Yaya)
    SSJRod

I can't see how I am I going to be able to make any transfers, since I won't want to lose Evans unless he is confirmed out for longer...

I have never EVER wasted a FT...

I am thinking too far ahead? Should I not be worrying about this now?

just make a transfer now and take it one step at a time. could be an injury or something else that pops up. also I might advise ditching yaya as he has two blanks in a row, and bringing him back after

Yeah that could make my team more attacking 3-4-3 as supposed to a 4-4-2...

And I'd have a sub just in case...

Good advice, but don't sell Yaya just to solve what may not even be a problem next week (namely, potentially burning a FT)

I guess the result of the Hull game would give me a reason to use a transfer...

Looks good to me. 1 transfer to sort out an injury or suspension. If not needed for that make a transfer you want to make. If your bench keeper is Mannone you may need transfer for GW29 keeper.

Yeah I was thinking that, if Adrian has a blank, then I could do Mannone to Marshall...

So you're keeping Yaya and SAS, which I think is a reasonable tactic.

I imagine that you might want to sort out Eriksen if he doesn't start this week or has a crap performance and is hauled off at the hour mark

Thought about that, but after reading the Spurs forums I'm pretty confident he'll come back in...

If not, I have 2FTs net week to sort him out...

For those asking for midfield replacements taking the blank(s) into consideration, I have written a little blurb on it in my article this week:
