Gunners too much for 10 man City, Liverpool beat Big Sam but stay in the drop zone and Little Pea shows his class. Here’s the rest of this gameweek’s Scout Notes…

Man United managed to win away from home in the league for the first time this season thanks to Javier Hernandez’s double at the Brittania. With the injured Wayne Rooney still a few weeks away from a return, Little Pea showed the club have alternative quality options upfront, with a superbly improvised header for United’s first, as he picked up the maximum 3 Bonus Points. Although this wasn’t reflected in the Bonus Point allocation, Nemanja Vidic put in a superb shift at the back to comfortably nullify the threat of Kenwyne Jones, as well as providing the assist for United’s first.

Stoke slumped to their second defeat on the trot and despite a brilliant equaliser from Tuncay giving Tony Pulis’ side brief hope, United took the lead soon after against a largely uninspiring performance from the home side. With their next two games (eve, sun) things aren’t looking too bright for a side who have yet to pick up a clean sheet on their travels all season.

Liverpool managed a narrow 2-1 win against Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn but still remain in the relegation zone. Sotirios Kyrgiakos grabbed a goal and all 3 Bonus Points and although a Jamie Carragher own goal meant they have now went five games without recording a clean sheet, Fernando Torres second goal of the season proved to be the winner at Anfield.

Sam Allardyce’s side had Paul Robinson to thank for keeping Liverpool at bay; the Blackburn keeper recorded 6 saves in a performance which saw him awarded 2 Bonus Points, making it 5 in the last 2 gameweeks. Robinson is now the highest-scoring budget keeper in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, sitting behind Petr Cech and Joe Hart. Carragher’s own goal means no Blackburn player has scored in any of their three October league games.

The fourth-minute dismissal of Dedryk Boyata at Eastlands meant it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Man City against Arsenal. Despite a spirited performance after going a goal behind midway through the first half, fatigue set in come the final quarter of the game, and City were picked off two more times as the Gunners pass and move proved too much for them. Carlos Tevez limped off in the 53rd minute, though the extent of any injury is yet unclear.

Arsenal even had the luxury of a missed Cesc Fabregas penalty in their 3-0 win over City. Samir Nasri once again showed the form that suggests he may be a cheap alternative to Fabregas, with a goal, assist and all 3 Bonus Points in the match at Eastlands. Alex Song bagged the second and Nicklas Bendtner, returning from injury, scored the third after being on the pitch for just four minutes in an overall team performance that delighted Arsene Wenger.

Is it time to get rid of Berbs? Im just worried because if he finds form again I wont be able to afford to buy him back.

Berba hasn't scored in a while either.

    Foster (Carson)
    O'Shea Coleman Konchesky (Elmo Foley)
    Malouda Arshavin VdV Nani (Ferguson)
    Drogba Berbatov Carroll

Thinking of O'Shea > Simpson and Arshavin > Fabregas which will be a 4 point hit and leave 1.3 in the bank. Is there any glaring errors in my team?!

zhirkov has done well but the second ramires or lampard are back he'll be back out the side, ramires is expected back next game, and lampard the game after.
as for alex regardless of what anyone says they are just guessing. next match, due to blackburn's very aerial style there is a good chance alex will be straight back alongside terry with ivanovic at rb. after that against liverpool bosingwa would come back in i imagine putting alex back under threat from ivanovic.
if in doubt about alex i wouldn't go for another player under doubt like zhirkov or bosingwa right now.

    Hi all

Already done my free transfer of the week: Crainey in for Rio. Made that in order to have founds to do a Nasri to Fabregas for 4 point hit.

The problem is that i made the Crainey move before the Man City-Arsenal (almost once Tuncay scored...) game and before the display of Nasri (wich i appreciated but...)
So, that leaves me with a few options now:

A- Do the supposed Nasri to Fabregas for 4 points hit
B - Malouda to Fabregas for 4 pt hit (keeping Nasri and is current run of form)
C - Tevez out (maybe injured, don't know yet) to Drogba + Malouda to Fabregas, for 8 pt hit.
D - Do nothing, keep Nasri, Tevez and Malouda and hope Fabregas does nothing next week and Drogba as well.

    Need some help.
    Thanks

    Cheers.

PS - My current team is:
    Cech; Gilks
Coleman; Jara; Crainey; Emrique; R Johnson
    VdV; Nani; Malouda; Nasri; Albrighton
    Tevez; Berbatov; Carroll

Just taken a wait for it, 24 point hit. Kneejerked like mad but I think I am happy with this team being a season long one, barring one or two players and injuries.

    Robinson Mignolet

    Distin Coleman Alex Boswinga El-Mohamody

    Nasri Nani Malouda VDV Fabregas

    Tevez Hernandez Varney

    Previous team was

    Robbo Mignolet

    O'shea, Coleman, Alex, Perch, Jones

    Nani Malouda VDV Adam N'zog

    Berb Drogba Tevez

Although I don't have Berbatov+Drogba, I feel my defence looks much stronger and that Fab and Nasri are worth extorniate points hits.

Will the massive kneejerk pay off.

I've been taking lots this year, if played correctly, you can gain good value on players which will come in handy later on in season.

Although 2280 wasn't bad my defence hadn't been performing well for 3/4 weeks so went for total revamp and I though Fab is a must have and on form/fixtures so is Nasri. To make 5 changes to defence/mid, I needed to downgrade two forwards.

probably not in the short term but wanted to catch price rises for some long term players i.e. elmo, fab and boswinga.

With captaincy points in the next two weeks, hopefully fab can make a big chunk up with two very easy home games.

Poor decision mate, could have been worked out over a few weeks without all these hits. Could easily have taken just a 4 point hit to get the one or two players you wanted the most this week and then worked from there.

I think you've just made a mistake that will take a long time to repair.

What's the theory behind Alex and Bos in same team? You believe that Ivanovic is going to be relegated to the bench from now on? Seems quite risky for a 24 point hit.

Also what is the theory behind two chelsea and two Everton? They both play Away at the the same time over next 5 game weeks.

even away I will play the two chelsea defenders but at home everton defenders are home. it is very risky but I can use a free transfer to take out alex if needs be, I believe Boswinga will start pretty regularly.

As for over a few weeks, I looked at it and it would have been hard, I wanted Fabregas in and I had to change the whole team structure or lose Malouda, which I wasn't prepared to do. Some transfers weren't essential i.e. bring elmo in but I couldn't have afforded him in future due to price rises.

      It's you.

You were the one who took a 20 point hit when you were top 100, and I was telling you not to. Now look where you are...

I can safely say that my policy of no more than 4 point hits is creaming yours. My team was no better than yours back then, but without those hits, I'm looking much tidier than you are now.

Mmm... But you're not quite like this guy.

          Look at his history.

He has lost 56 points with his latest hit. That's a whole gameweek's worth of points. I don't care how good you are at picking players, that is definitely not worth it.

No-one questioned having both Drogs and Malouda earlier on when Chelski were scoring for fun. If L'Arse continue as they did yesterday then having two makes sense.

For those who haven't already given up on the Carroll assist, I gave up after 24 hours but just got the following in reply to my drunken Saturday night email to FPL towers:

"Carroll was not awarded an assist for Nolan's goal because the defender's deflection after Carroll's touch was significant enough to change the intended destination of the ball."

Fair cop. Though he'd have been given it and some bonus points to boot if it wasn't for his bad press recently.

Who would you downgrade to get Fabs in?, a 4 point hit is worth someone like Fabs easily

Just bothered to look at my metro team for the first time in a while - players such as Valencia etc still littering it. Pissed around and my first XI now reads

    Cech
    A.Cole, Baines, Boateng, Bale
    Fabregas, Malouda, VdV, Nani, Arteta
    Drogba

If only that were possible on FPL!!!!

cracking. I want to get A Cole for my sky sports team, but you can only have 2 players from each team, and I have Drogba and Malouda.

Muscle knock - should be back this weekend. Most goals in Premier League in 2010 calendar year. Even if he is out this weekend, I'm keeping him since I bought him at 10.4M and he's 11M now. Will rival Drogba for Golden Boot and score 20 league goals in my opinion.
