The Dugout Discussion kicks into gear for five more fixtures of our penultimate gameweek. unfortunately today’s television broadcasts are aimed in the direction of the only two games with “nothing left to play for” (don’t blame them too much, they have to make these commitments months in advance).

Later today Arsenal will have their final home game of another barren season versus Aston Villa for our viewing pleasure. Elsewhere in the four o’clock kick-offs Liverpool and Spurs will jostle for fifth place and a spot in the Europa league, West Ham travel to Wigan needing a victory for any faint hope of survival this year. That may not even be enough, if Birmingham can get just a point at home to Fulham at the same time then The Hammers are Championship bound.

But first we’ve got Chelsea playing host to Newcastle in a dead rubber fixture. Ancelotti keeps his word and Torres starts (alongside Nicolas Anelka and Yossi Benayoun) with Josh McEachran, Alex and Ramires also coming in. Alan Pardew keeps to his word and rests Cheikh Tiote for the remainder of the season to avoid a record 15 yellow cards and 3 game ban. Line-ups in full are…

Chelsea XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole; Ramires, Lampard, McEachran; Benayoun, Torres, Anelka

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; Gutierrez, Barton, R Taylor, Ferguson; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all the days games until young Greghammer gets teary eyed as the Fantasy Premier League bonus points roll in. Whether that’s through seeing his side getting relegated or captaining Thomas Vermaelen (or both) is yet to be seen.

Who would you bench next week???

    Lampard Kuyt Barton Adam O'Hara
    RVP Berbatov Suarez

All have decent form/fixtures, struggling a bit.

I wouldn't sweat it. Next week is going to be a lottery. Full stop.

Apart from Adam and O'Hara and probably RVP, all that lot may be rested.

Apparently Grant was sacked in the tunnel by Sullivan.

Classless idiots. No football fan deserves to have their club run by them.

In the tunnel?! Jeez, that's harsh. They could've let him have the last game of the season at least, and done it properly once the season has finished. What difference would it make?

I've got Sessegnon and that's probably all I'll go into the game with. Also have Mingolet but I'll probably play Hart.

Probably going to go for another 8 point hit, including Tevez and Berbatov/Owen. No room for Sunderlanders!

worth the risk that he does start imo. i'm not sure he'll start v barcelona so my logic is he'll therefore start this, by doing so making a ropey man utd team look stronger and less controversial to the FA after their crazy precedent they set by fining blackpool earlier in the season

pretty good imo. richards has played the last 2 coming back form injury whilst kolarov and zabaleta have each had a rest. or you could look at it as mancini could want to go with his cup winning team who will be in high spirits. or even he wont want to change a defence who has just kept a clean sheet?

hope he doesn't play but think he will

    INVESTMENTS

i'm putting some cash into gold, and while researching it, i found this little nugget:

"Gordon Brown sold half the UK's gold reserves at the turn of the century at about $260 an ounce. The gold price is now more than $1,500"

i knew he'd made a mess when he sold the gold but didn't realise it was that bad

that was shocking. genuinely not sure if dunne touched the ball in the first half, that's how lolsome his defending was and how lucky he was with decisions. definite penalty, probable red therefore, no way did rvp foul him later on, and although the chamakh disallowed goal was harsh there is a case for it being disallowed as he was climbing on walker a bit

In real time it was just so clearly a foul. In slow mo it looked like the ref must have been born in Small Heath.

life without fabregas doesn't look rosy, i think you have to ignore the man utd win without him as the last 2 have shown you severely miss his leadership, his ability to change a game being his leadership
