It has been revealed by Roy Hodgson that Peter Odemwingie’s season has finished early after the striker suffered an ankle injury. He will now certainly miss the Baggies’ last encounter of the season – a trip to the North East to face Newcastle.

The Nigerian forward has been one of the Premier League’s signings of the season, cropping up with 15 goals and 9 assists. This good form has established him as a firm Fantasy Premier League favourite and he currently holds an ownership of 19.7%.

If this final gameweek wasn’t stressful enough, almost one-in-five FPL Managers are now left with another last-gasp decision. At 5.8 Odemwingie stands out remarkably against other cheap forwards and it is generally slim pickings when pondering the rest of this price bracket.

The obvious choice would be Steven Fletcher of Wolves – one of the most in-form players in the league with 5 goals in his last 5 outings as well as 6 FPL bonus points. Priced at just 4.8, he could also free up an extra million for other areas of the squad in need of a last hurrah.

Going off past form, Marc-Antoine Fortune seems the most likely candidate to lead the Baggies line in Odemwingie’s absence. Even with a cheap 5.0 valuation, his record of just 2 goals and 1 assist in 24 Premier League games (albeit mostly as a sub) doesn’t make him particularly attractive. Fortune has rarely completed the full 90 minutes this season, so expect him to be replaced by Ishmael Miller.

With a dwindled potency, West Brom are lacking much attacking potential, a clean-sheet could be on the cards for the Newcastle backline. Those Managers shopping for a goalkeeper look no further than Tim Krul, at 3.9 he is as cheap as they come and holds the capacity to grab some end of season points.

Elsewhere in the Newcastle defence, Jose Enrique is a snip at 4.7 and offers assist and Bonus point potential, respectively notching up 2 and 11 this season. Whilst Steven Taylor has scored in his last 2 Premier League fixtures and is yours for just 3.9.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

lots of nani action. i've taken the plunge, if he starts i want him if he doesn't i've got subs, or his 1 point wouldn't be the end of the world, who knows he could grab a cheeky goal against a stretched blackpool (if they are chasing a goal)

hmm who is the best option to replace him:

    DJ
    Rodagella
Fletcher (do alreasdy have O'hara which puts me off)
    Another?
A 4 point hit and Berba

Wouldn't do Rodallega personally... Fletcher rather than DJ if you ask me (trying to find a way of getting him into my team as I type).

For what it's worth I'm doing an 8 point hit to get N'Zog, Berba & Fletcher...

Hmm problem is i did a four pointer not sure who else i'd take out, i'd like Zog but my midfield five all seems ok but i might be looking at it blind..

Only thing i could do is Lampards and Wingie out for Zoggy and Berba but then i get bench head ache

    Last repost of the season:

Last dilema of the season. My forward line is:

Lampard, Silva, A Young, O’Hara, VDV
    Suarez, RVP, Berbatov

Who do I sell for N’Zogbia?
    Who do I bench?

VDV's a doubt. Although if he does start, he could tear it up. I'd lean towards benching Silva - he looks like he's favouring that knee.

      *cue VDV and Silva hat-tricks...

      Silva.

      Id then play

      Lamps, VDV, O'hara, Nzog
      Suarez RVP, Berbs

with Young first sub as VDV may well not play by sounds of it.

Bench Lampard, he will probably come in anyway for VDV.

N'zogbia is not essential for this week. You've got to bench one anyway and all 8 are strong candiates for your starting line up. I'd focus on your defence, Dawson/Johnson good options

But they surely won't go full out with the youngsters? They'll be desperate not to finish the season with another dire defeat. I think West Ham are still trying to secure a permanent deal for Ba, so it's not as if they know he'll be goners - like Keane - in the summer.

if they want to give youngens a start they only really have sears and hines in which case i see those 2 flanking ba. think of ba's competition, it c.cole (does he deserve a game after missing from 2 yards at 2-2 last week?), r.keane (no loyalty to keane, he's been pants and he's not even their player) and piquionne (like the rest piquionne has been spanked by ba). i guess you can argue ba is on loan too but i think a home win should be the priority for their already demoralised fans in which case ba will be pretty much first name on the team sheet

        my third is sturridge

I don't have the money to do Sturridge+Rooney for berbs and Tevez

    Ok ok ok.

So Odem out and VDV doubtful. What to do?

    I have:
    Cech (Al Habsi)
Luiz, Elmohamady, Huth, Samba, R Johnson
    VDV, Dempsey, Adam, Kuyt, Yaya
    Odem, RVP, Berbatov (c)

Logic would be to sell Odem, but would only have 9.1 to spend on a striker. . . that's not enough to get Bent. . .

Was going to do Dempsey for Nzog or Anderson.

    Any suggestions?

I'm chasing an 8 point lead.

We're on pretty much the same ranking. Every four-point hit costs me about 200 places!

But Berb and Tevez are the obvious picks. I can't get in Berba after slagging him off all year, but I'm captaining the handsome young man from Argentina.

I'm not gonna trade out VDV without more concrete news, and if you were taking a hit to do so it would be an even bigger risk.

How much of a problem your midfield doubts are will depend on how strong your bench is.

But from just what you've said, B looks better.

Bench is shot to pieces due to dodgy defence (Coleman, Luiz, Kolarov, Djourou)+ Meireles and VDV injury question marks. Only have 1 free transfer,so A would be an 8 pt hit and B 4 pts.

Most players will be short this week. Lampard could easily get rested etc.

All the more reason to have 11.

Which I think I would have if I went Odem out, Ameobi in. But will Ameobi get four-plus points.

                B*gger it. I'll sit tight and hope Tevez (c) gets a hat-full.

chances of odem staying at west brom for next season? i've had him right through his great run (incluidng his shady patch!) and definitely an option in FPL for next season in my opinion. Price will prob be around 6/7m i reckon...

    The question... Berba or Tevez.
Berba will have second string team helping him with not much drive. They will be up against a team fighting relegation at home.
Tevez seems to be in excellent form, with a team playing to maintain 3rd place (all first stringers will play) but playing away to Bolton who are not fighting for anything.

Odds for anytime goal scorer is
    1.72 berba
    2 tevez
    Both going for golden boot

Based on the above, I'm starting to lean towards Tevez as I think the team will be feeding him more and they have more motivation to win this game (although what is their away record?)

Tevez has had one excellent match. Didn't do much in the cup final. And, yep, City are poor away.

Berbatov is always a risk, isn't he?

Tough call for many of us, I think.

Looks like my transfers will be:

    VdV -> N'Zgobia
    Odemwingie -> Berbatov

ok I have decided, berb and nzog in, leaving Tevez out, as I’m sure Mancini will do after Tevez making a cock out of him in the press

Nah, Mancini is in denial re Tevez. Probably still thinks he'll stay if he treats him nicely. Also will realise that the golden boot will help his price tag, which could lead to him staying as no-one in Argentina could afford him.

Right, i've spent far too much time not working and thinking about this team. So i've made my decisions and hit the button on a twelve pointer. Have 20 point gap to make up (now 32) perhaps it's madness but risk required as four of us within 20 points battling for the final cash spot:

    Hart
    Baines Evra Luiz (Onouha)(Kelly)
VDV Lampard Anderson Nzogbia (Sessegnon - first sub)
    Berb (c) Suarez Ba

Do I stand a chance, only time will tell, but have I got the subs right or should I have Sessegnon on for one of the others - way I see it is if VDV doesn't play then he'll come in anyway).

115 tranfers in, with a whole ownership of about 100 people in the whole of the fpl. Now that's a differential!
