It has been revealed by Roy Hodgson that Peter Odemwingie’s season has finished early after the striker suffered an ankle injury. He will now certainly miss the Baggies’ last encounter of the season – a trip to the North East to face Newcastle.

The Nigerian forward has been one of the Premier League’s signings of the season, cropping up with 15 goals and 9 assists. This good form has established him as a firm Fantasy Premier League favourite and he currently holds an ownership of 19.7%.

If this final gameweek wasn’t stressful enough, almost one-in-five FPL Managers are now left with another last-gasp decision. At 5.8 Odemwingie stands out remarkably against other cheap forwards and it is generally slim pickings when pondering the rest of this price bracket.

The obvious choice would be Steven Fletcher of Wolves – one of the most in-form players in the league with 5 goals in his last 5 outings as well as 6 FPL bonus points. Priced at just 4.8, he could also free up an extra million for other areas of the squad in need of a last hurrah.

Going off past form, Marc-Antoine Fortune seems the most likely candidate to lead the Baggies line in Odemwingie’s absence. Even with a cheap 5.0 valuation, his record of just 2 goals and 1 assist in 24 Premier League games (albeit mostly as a sub) doesn’t make him particularly attractive. Fortune has rarely completed the full 90 minutes this season, so expect him to be replaced by Ishmael Miller.

With a dwindled potency, West Brom are lacking much attacking potential, a clean-sheet could be on the cards for the Newcastle backline. Those Managers shopping for a goalkeeper look no further than Tim Krul, at 3.9 he is as cheap as they come and holds the capacity to grab some end of season points.

Elsewhere in the Newcastle defence, Jose Enrique is a snip at 4.7 and offers assist and Bonus point potential, respectively notching up 2 and 11 this season. Whilst Steven Taylor has scored in his last 2 Premier League fixtures and is yours for just 3.9.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    Alreet lads.

Chances of VDV playing on Sunday? If I'm going to ship him out it needs to be today so that I can afford my planned transfers.

I'd be happy if Hitzel doesn't start, I could have an 8 mids/for headache on my hands with my transfers (now Odem is out). If Hitzel's out too, that makes things easier.

Confident about most of it, other than the Anelka slot. Can't see Luiz starting, Everton are quite a physical side, strengthening the case for Carlo choosing Alex over Luiz.

Lost on last post (the posts are coming thick and fast today!)

    Foster (Begovic)
    Lescott Luiz Djourou (Walker Carr)
    Nani Lamps VDV Nzog Adam
    RVP Rooney (Odem)

I’m doing Rooney to Berba for my free.

Do I need to take a 4 point hit to replace Odem (I’d have 9.4m to spend)? I’d probably be keeping the replacement on the bench, usually a bad idea for a hit, but I think I need bench cover with VDV and Nani doubts, as well as Luiz and Djourou.

With Odemwingie ruled out, my mids/forwards are now:

    Lampard, Silva, Toure, Adam, N'Zogbia
    RVP, Berbatov(c)

My free transfer was Rooney to Berb. Question is whether I take:

    A. a 4 point hit and replace Silva with Nani/VDV
    B. a 4 point hits to swap Odemwingie with Fletcher (benching Silva)
    C. an 8 point hit and swap Silva for O'Hara and Odem for Tevez.

    Cheers.

Christ on a bike, the tight margins in this game sometimes, I had planned Rooney OUT Berbatov IN all week, and then a 4 pointer on Odemwingie if he was out to Tevez, would leave me with 0.0 in the bank, and then I did the Berbatov move today without realising that Rooney dropped by .1 last night, now I am .1 short of Odem OUT Tevez IN, Argh.

Malouda OUT Nani IN leaves me with the .1 but, it is an 8 point hit. Leading all my mini leagues with a healthy 60 odd points, but not the same in my Ironman league with Akers/Andy/DFD and the boys.

Lampard > Nani (for a point hit)

Talk me out of it! Am now 4 points behind my brother, who has Lampard and no Nani - at least for the time being, no idea what sort of tricks he's got up his sleeve this week. Knowing him, it's probably Caldwell ready for his hattrick and a clean sheet at Stoke. 😈

Don't do it, Nani may catch splinters and Fatty could easy bag a peno/goal/assist/bonus and you would be left for dust.

        Lampard Adam N'Zogbia Modric
        RVP Tevez Berbatov (c)

        subs: Foster, Yaya, Luiz, Johnson

I'm four points behind, after taking into account the hits I've taken. He'll probably make at least a couple of transfers himself, if he hasn't already.

All squads are incredibly different for some reason, so I'm not really concerned about matching him or finding differentials. Just wondering whether Nani is likely to outscore Lamps by 4 points.... I personally think he will start.

Had a monster week against my rival and turned a 24 point deficit into a 14 point lead. So close to that sweet cash...

    MY TEAM:
    Foster (Begovic)
    RJ Kolarov Coleman (Huth, Luiz)
    Silva VDV Adam N’Zogbia (Lampard)
    Odem Ba RVP

Rivals’ main differentials: Kuyt, Suarez, Baines, Enrique

I’m not going to take a hit unless he does, should I use my transfer(s) to cover a differential (probably Suarez) or just go for Odem > Berba? He'll likely take out Odem too and could even go Berba so I'm favouring that. If I do make a second change I'm thinking Huth > Enrique?

On the good side, my rival took a 4pt hit (so far) which means he's now... 29 points behind me.

    Team is

    Begovic (Foster)
    Huth, Johnson, Lescott (Jagielka, Luiz)
    Kuyt, Yaya, Walters, Dempsey, Adam
    Drogba, RVP, Odem

Fergie said he'd be playing along with Fletcher and Scholes. That should mean Anderson plays further forward than Fletcher and Scholes. Having said that, 1 PL goal in 4 years isn't great...

Which is why there will be goals in it. Manu players will be out to enjoy the game and put themselves in the spotlight for a final berth whilst Blackpool will keep attacking no matter how many goals they go down. Could easily end up 7-5.

Capable of chasing a 32 point lead? Would rather not take any hits.

All depends on who your rival has. If he has similar players then your chances of closing up are diminished.

Team looks fine other than Luiz, who probably won't play. In terms of whether it's capable of catching up depends what your rival's got! But looks fine.

    Alright guys,
    Beg
    Kol, Djourou, Luiz,
    VDV, Silva, Lamps, Nzog, Adam
    RVP, Suarez
    Foster, RJ, Odem, Jara

    Which makes more sense?
    a. Djourou and RVP for Tevez and Ward (or someone less than 4.5)
    b. Luiz and Odem for Berba and Ward (or someone less than 4.5)

    Cheers

Stupid game...to get Berbs in for Odem I need another transfer hit.
And to generate the funds I'd need to do something like Nani -> N'Zogs.
Why did I decide to get Lampard?

Good news. Though I think the best Newcastle defender to get by a long way is Ryan Taylor. He'll be OOP in either the RM or CM role, and will be taking all the set pieces (apart from pens).

The Queen is finally going home! YAY! Been a great visit, but some of the traffic restrictions have been a right ball ache.

Why is Ward such a popular option, even OOP? Just went through his stats - one goal and two assists isn't exactly spectacular.
