Injuries

It has been revealed by Roy Hodgson that Peter Odemwingie’s season has finished early after the striker suffered an ankle injury. He will now certainly miss the Baggies’ last encounter of the season – a trip to the North East to face Newcastle.

The Nigerian forward has been one of the Premier League’s signings of the season, cropping up with 15 goals and 9 assists. This good form has established him as a firm Fantasy Premier League favourite and he currently holds an ownership of 19.7%.

If this final gameweek wasn’t stressful enough, almost one-in-five FPL Managers are now left with another last-gasp decision. At 5.8 Odemwingie stands out remarkably against other cheap forwards and it is generally slim pickings when pondering the rest of this price bracket.

The obvious choice would be Steven Fletcher of Wolves – one of the most in-form players in the league with 5 goals in his last 5 outings as well as 6 FPL bonus points. Priced at just 4.8, he could also free up an extra million for other areas of the squad in need of a last hurrah.

Going off past form, Marc-Antoine Fortune seems the most likely candidate to lead the Baggies line in Odemwingie’s absence. Even with a cheap 5.0 valuation, his record of just 2 goals and 1 assist in 24 Premier League games (albeit mostly as a sub) doesn’t make him particularly attractive. Fortune has rarely completed the full 90 minutes this season, so expect him to be replaced by Ishmael Miller.

With a dwindled potency, West Brom are lacking much attacking potential, a clean-sheet could be on the cards for the Newcastle backline. Those Managers shopping for a goalkeeper look no further than Tim Krul, at 3.9 he is as cheap as they come and holds the capacity to grab some end of season points.

Elsewhere in the Newcastle defence, Jose Enrique is a snip at 4.7 and offers assist and Bonus point potential, respectively notching up 2 and 11 this season. Whilst Steven Taylor has scored in his last 2 Premier League fixtures and is yours for just 3.9.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

N'Zog is the one I'd get if I had to choose though... He's basically playing up front.

I am 6points ahead in a mini league - In the Metro game. So I have basically kicked the ball once more than he has over the season.

We are both in the top 400 and have worked out that he has Joe Hart as we didn't change position after Tues.

I read on the Independent site mutterings of Shay Given playing on Sunday, his last game for the club. As there are no autosubs in that game it is one to ponder. Play Foster or stick with Hart? Have to play Ridgewell at the back with luiz and Vidic not 100%. Thoughts?

I know. I may go for the safe option. Hart already has the best goalkeeper award in the bag, ie, most cleanies I believe.

hello, my final attempt at gathering advice. 🙁

    Mignolet

    Luiz, Walker, Simpson

    Lamps, Silva, Nzogbia, Yaya

    Rvp, Suarez, Rooney

(VDV, Kolarov, Carr) .1 in bank, 1 freebie

If i do rooney->berbatov, is that enough? or are there too many other risks in the current starting team and i should find a mid replacement for VDV knowing for sure he wont play? ahead by 5 points against rival, he has kuyt and baines, so they are out.
Thanks in advance. May your arrows be green.

I guess it all depends on whether you think Silva & Luiz will play. It seems Zabs out so Kol should play (if what I read here is true) so starting Luiz is cool. I'd just do Berbs in and pray a little.

    OR

Lampard -> Nani AND Luiz -> Smalling ??

If I want Nani, I have to free up some cash by transfer Luiz out.

Vdv out has royally screwed up my transfer plans. Now can't get both Tevez and Berbs without taking a 12 pointer which is probably not worth it. Trouble is i would like Tevez to cover my rival but really want to get Berbs in.

Looking through his transfer history, he regularly takes 2 or 3 transfers. I've got a feeling he'll try to get Berbatov, Tevez and N'Zogbia in. Don't think he can field a full defence either.

I'm hoping he gets Tevez in and captains him. Then all i can hope for is Berbatov bringing in the points and Tevez flopping.

      In a word, no.

For starters, a 32 pt deficit is hard to pull off in one week at the best of times, especially when its only a single gameweek.

Second, you really need to have a lot of differentials to claw back that kind of lead. I imagine that the guy/gal you're chasing probably will have between 4-6 of the same players you have since yours is a pretty generic team.

That means that your differentials really have to work hard to close that gap.

Third, you really have to take a chance on a captain that your rival isn't going to have. Someone like Modric is prob your best differential captain choice since your rival is fairly likely to get Berbs as well and captain him, especially if he suspects that thats what you're going to do.

Sorry I can't tell you what you want to hear, but them's the facts.

    hart (foster)
    Luiz huth hangeland (djourou, coleman)
    lamps nani adam n'zog (vdv)
    sturridge odem rvp

3.0 in the bank, 1 freebie.

with vdv news, not sure if I should just bench him or play his replacement over sturridge. right now i'm leaning towards odem>berbs, and huth to either dawson or r.taylor (to free up cash for berbs). 4pt hit.
    (c) selection would then be between berbs and rvp...

I wouldn't do 4 pt hit for a def. Play Huth, Coleman, Hangs and Luiz and Djourou on the bench. I expect most defenders will only get 1 pt this weekend anyway.

      I would go for Modric.
Nani unlikely to play full 90 if at all, Kuyt will be playing deeper if Kenny goes for Carroll and Suarez up front and Adam is away at Old Trafford - wouldn't transfer him in especially for the gameweek.
Modric could potentially be on penalties with VDV out and has a nice fixture.
There are flaws to this plan, however it's my gut feeling he will finally deliver in FF terms.
