With team news for Sunday’s games still rolling in and the Fantasy deadline pushed back by 24-hours, this week’s Scout Picks will follow on Saturday afternoon. In the meantime voting for our end of season awards goes on.

We’ve added the third of our polls today, collecting your votes on the midfielders who have lit up your Fantasy season. Once again you have four votes available to you, allowing the love to spread around an array of nominations.

    Im transferring drogba for berbatov but should i transfer VDV for n'zogbia or huth for dawson (or any other attacking defender). I have 2 free transfers this week so wont be taking a hit, if i transfer VDV, my defender sub is stearman, so unlikely to play/get many points, and if i transfer huth i have ferguson as a sub, so will prob only get me 2 points. Im leaning more towards subbing VDV out, and just accepting that my defence will get few points

        yeh i can, just thinking that wigan could go all out to try and try and win by a bug margin, not sure about tottenham. Im also taking a chance on nani playing, but if he doesnt my rival also has him, and he has other problems to worry about like rooney, odem, VDV, vidic and nani too

          you're good if you're covered like that and you're protecting a lead... I got NZog in (couldn't afford Modric, but on form NZog is probably the pick for the reasons you mentioned).

    You didn't include Nani in the list either... You have 3 starting defenders (2 Bir + 1 Che)... think carefully efore taking a points hit on a defender - you need to know he'll get at least 4 for you to break even... picking the clean sheets out of this week's fixtures is not easy.

    Odem & VDV out are no brainers imho - they can't get you points this week. R. Taylor is the virus that I've been infected by from Atilla... I have Simpson, and I think they have a chance of a cleanie - but its a risk that I wouldn't take if I had your team.

    Ultimately, your record is excellent over the last number of years... you're more qualified to tell us what should happen... Have a think - what's your gut instinct? Do 2 or 3?

      Works in two ways though. Like I've used 4 points to downgrade Luiz to Ryan Taylor so I can get Berbatov. So if Ryan Taylor gets me 1 point but Berbatov scores a goal that means you haven't lost anything.

      3 - I like the punt of R.Taylor and dropping a Brum defender. Not a lot in it though but that move also allows Berbs & Nzog.

    I understand the general thought that taking hits for defenders is a no no, but this weekend I could be missing Vidic, Luiz, Huth & Djourou. That leaves me with just Kyle Walker at the back.

    I'm 43 points clear, so I'm going to transfer in 2 defenders, that way at least I can get a 11 playing and if those defenders happen to be the same as my nearest rival, so be it!

      I'm purposely putting off my transfers for that reason. My missus plays FPL and is doing pretty well, she's 10 points off winning her work league with about 25 people in but I care more than her about that fact!

      Anyway id maybe go Foster, both opponents will probably score, Foster will probably bag the save points tho.

    Just wondering what those with VDV/Odem/Rooney are doing?

    Considered these options:

    VDV -> Modric, Nani, Adam

    Odemwingie -> Fletcher, Ba

    Rooney -> Keep, Berbatov, Tevez

    Modric option looks best as BIR conceded shots on goal and TOT are the home team. Any thoughts?

              Tend to agree with you but more in hope tbh, Bal4tom. However, Lord Ferg has said that it will be a mix of first teamers and reserves so some of the regulars will be there.

              Also the consideration that SAF wants to keep players match fit too and Rooney is one of those that need regular game time.

      out of those, and assuming you can't buy Berb or Tevez, I'd say from that lot fletcher... if you're chasing, then you have the chance of a goal and an o'hara assist...

      Personally though I'd look outside that group and go for Sturridge (Bolton)... even against a Man City team looking for third I think he'll bag a goal.

          Do it. Blackpool have to go for it at Old Trafford and Berba should get plenty of chances. Except for Fulham, Liverpool's away form hasn't been amazing and their season could well peter out at Villa.

      Odem and VDV are definitely not playing and you have Huth and Luiz who may not play either... might be worth shipping odem for someone or VDV (nzog, modric, or any one of fletcher, sturridge etc)... try to make sure you start with 11 on the pitch on Sunday would be my advice...

            Definitely! I'm going Shola (c) myself. We have a habit of scoring big on the last game (with the notable exception of the season of shame). It's all part of the lulz of being a Newcastle fan, we have a romping win in the last match to give us all false hope for the next season and it ensures shirt sales and season tickets. 🙂

    Every game on Fifa is the same, the other person kicks off, they look good going forward attacking with pace and then you get the ball and pretty much carve through their defence straight away.

      I think it's a fail waiting to happen. Holding off on the Sturridge > Berbatov transfer. A 4 point hit to get in a player with no form is mad. Just to break even, Berbatov will need to score a goal, and I can't see him getting more than one, and even that, is a bit of a stretch.

    1st year of FPL so I wondered how long after the end does the FPL site shut down the leagues/forums after the season ends? Presumably once the final deadline closes the transfer options are locked down and you can't alter 'next week's team setup or anything.

          It's there until they reset the system and the new season starts in July but only after they screw up the algorithm more for bonus points.

      You can still view your team and all that but you can't do anything with it.

        only striker I can afford, miss out on bent by 0.1 gutted.

        Not sure Carroll is going to do anything against villa and think sturridge at home and against his old club will score and get a bonus point or two, so the 4 point hit plus carroll's score of probably 2 would be worth it..

      Don't do it.

      To breakeven, you'd need Sturridge to score against City.

      People taking point hits this week must have a good reason i.e. believe in Tevez or Berbatov or can't field XI.

      This is the LAST week, and if your player doesn't deliver right away, there's no time for him to earn you back the points.

        When it comes to taking hits theirs no laws on when is best to do it or whether they are good idea or not, it's comes down to luck mainly but then instincts. I've ha spells this season taking no hits but then in the last few weeks ive taken loads and every single one has been beneficial, if your taking a hit just to join a bandwagon that's probably foolish but if u genuinely feel it will benefit then why not? (makes the game more fun too :-))

        ...is one theory.
        But if you are struggling to field a competitive XI or you need to go for broke then do it.
        Each hit is effectively 2 points net of any possible gain if those player are injured. If you passive you hope and pray but I think in some cases it's worth the punt. Look at what N'zog got last week for example if you transfer him in for a hit and he performs again then your laughing.
        It's all about attitude to risk isn't it. No right or wrong.

          Of course it's worth a punt if the circumstances are right. I've taken hits this season, most of them pretty beneficial.

          But we're talking doing Carroll > Sturridge?!

          Even Berbatov is a risk that's more likely to flop than reward.
