The Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV concludes tomorrow as the Premier League season draws to a close. Nine weeks of hard work (and considerable good fortune) has left us with two Fantasy Managers battling it out for the top prize of a £150 Amazon gift voucher (and a consolation prize of a £75 voucher). So let’s meet our finalists…

Finalist #1 – Ninja_Fit_Saints

We’ve never had a fixture at such a late stage be decided on overall rank, but that’s exactly what happened when Ninja_Fit_Saints met redsareback in the Semi-Finals. Both sides finished tied on 63 points each, with Ninja_Fit_Saints’ rank of 1,377th in the world eventually eliminating his opponent. Demba Ba was his star performer, as Charles N’Zogbia scored well for both.

A sequence of 16 straight green arrows has seen Ninja_Fit_Saints storm up to his lofty ranking from a humble 319,527th overall going into Gameweek 22. The latter part of that sequence has coincided with this incredible run in the FFS Cup IV.

He stormed into the first round after finishing 7th in the qualifying round of over 1600 entrants. Continuing his strong start he dismissed bigfootisblurry and TheFlyingDutchman with ease, before coming up against his first real test in round three against maximo78. That was one of two one-point victories in the space of three rounds, with the second against Clogger in the round of 16. Sandwiched between them was a drubbing of Bluevikings and finally, before his Semi-Final showdown with redsareback was win over elana_s in the Quarters.

Finalist #2 – Biscanators

Unlike Ninja_Fit_Saints, Biscanators eased into the Grand Final last week, courtesy of a 62 – 50 win over Mr. Hat. Sitting 2,286th in the world, Biscanators goes into the Final as an underdog, albeit a very slight one.

He too has been on brilliant green arrow streak, notching 11 on-the-trot. Not quite as astronomical a rise as his opponent, but he’s climbed up from 55,652nd in that time period.

His qualifying round performance was nowhere near as convincing as Ninja_Fit_Saints’ though, finishing 510th and barely making the first round. There was nothing close about his first round fixture however, smashing radiolazy by almost doubling his score. He also eased past beehind the magic in round three and joeforristal in the fourth. He had three narrow wins on his way to the Final, beating daniel.mf by five points in the Quarters and edging JWF and M by identical 55 – 53 scores in the second and sixth rounds respectively.

It promises to be an open Grand Final, with only six players (Ben Foster, David Luiz, Roger Johnson, Leighton Baines, Frank Lampard and Robin van Persie) cancelling each other out. With the final day of the season a lottery as it is, it really could go either way.

There’s also the small matter of the third place play-off between the beaten Semi-Finalists, redsareback and Mr. Hat. There’s only pride at stake, but a podium finish offers plenty of incentive to end the season on a high.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in congratulating both our finalists on reaching this stage, and wish them the best of luck in the Grand Final tomorrow. I’ll bring you news of the outcome next week.

    Atilla, re Reading;

Is there a decent twitter feed for both assists and goals? Gonna be on the train tomorrow without a radio and would prefer not to have to check the BBC website every 2 minutes on my phone.

I view from a HTC Desire and it is fine, definitely the best place for updates, but it can be slower than a live feed of scores of some sort as you are scrolling down the page all the time, I have wondered about this as well, is there a Sky Sports ticker of some sort I wonder

Would this 12 point hit pay off?

    IN
Nzogbia - A must have this week, on form, against a stoke side a bit deflated after losing the FA cup final and Wigan fighting relegation.
Berbatov - Blackpool at home, we've seen this season what he can do if he starts scoring, and chasing golden boot.
Tevez - Also chasing golden boot and trying to secure 3rd. Showed in midweek that he's back on form.
Dawson - A hit on a defender is usually unwise, but at the moment I don't expect any clean sheets from my defence, and Spurs look nailed on for one.

    OUT
    VDV - injured
Zamora - not a certain starter
Suarez - a lot less FPL potential with Carroll in the side
Vidic - will be rested for CL final

I wouldn't be trusting Spurs to bring home the bacon like that, they have been inconsistent at times this season and for some reason I think they will really struggle with Birmingham, I think VDV is a big loss to them, Defoe is pissed off, and generally speaking I just don't back them going into a must win game like this, not this season anyway.

The rest of the moves are just about worth it

Just realised that although I have my main mini league all but won, I have 2 H2H finals today that I need to win. Here is my team with my two rivals, rival 1 uses this site and will likely make the obvious changes. Any suggestions for what I should do? Thanks.

    My team:
Foster (Begovic); Luiz, Kolorov, Walker, Jones, Djourou; Nani, Lamps, VDV, Adam, N'Zog; Rooney, RVP, Sturridge

    Rival 1:
Foster, Al Habsi; Luiz, Kolorov, Walker, Coleman, Smalling; Lampard, VDV, Yaya, Maxi, Dempsey; RVP, Suarez, Odem

    Rival 2:
Mignolet, Begovic; Luiz, Ivanovic, Kolorov, Coleman, Huth; Nani, Malouda, Yaya, N'Zog, Gutierrez; Rooney, RVP, Beckford

Earlier in the season that would've been a ridiculous question but I'm contemplating the risk to try to improve my overall ranking. My money mini league is wrapped up but there seem to be quite a lot of people playing safe this week so I'm thinking it might be worth the punt. Any thoughts?

Team is linked and need big help. Rival is 14 pts behind and made a -4pt hit.

      1. Odemwingie+VDV > Berbatov+O'Hara/Anderson (and would not know who to bench)

      2. Odemwingie+Lampard > Modric+Berbatov/Tevez

      3. Suarez+VDV > Modric+Tevez/Berbatov

      Help:

Currently 21 points behind my works league leader if he has taken no hits for this GW. Captain choice is proving hard work.

      My Team:
Foster, Skrtel, Hangeland, Baines, N'Zogbia, Adam, Kuyt, Maxi, Tevez, Berbatov, Van Persie
      Bench: Schwarzer, Huth, Luiz, Hitzlsperger

      His Team last GW:
Foster, Johnson R, Hangeland, Zabaleta, Malouda, Nani, Downing, VDV, Odemwingie, Drogba, Van Persie
      Bench: Carson, Nolan, Luiz, Djourou

I think he is really struggling with non starters this week and he will feel inclined to make 2-3 changes to patch up the team and go for it.

The armband is likely to win it or lose it for me... most seem to be favouring berbatov at the moment. My gut says my rival will bring in berbatov for drogba and (c) him as a minimum and that I should pick RVP and laugh when berbatov gets 0-1 goals or only plays for a bit of the game? Or should I take a bigger punt and (c) one of my midfielders? No guts no glory!

If you fancy RVP to score well and are looking to take a real punt, bench Hangeland, bring an attacking defender such as Richards or G Johnson in for Huth or Luiz and captain him. No guts no glory!

Done Odem > Berba and now seriously considering an 8 point hit to do Lampard > Modric & Ba > Tevez. Would be an 8 point hit (my rival has only taken 4) to give me a team of:

      Foster (Begovic)
      Huth Kolarov Coleman (RJ Luiz)
      Modric Silva Adam N'Zog (VDV)
      Tevez(C) Berba RVP

Apart from the dodgy defence I like, is it worth the hit though? Could I do better or maybe just VDV > Nani/Modric?

          vp and odem

cant afford a straight swap for drogs/odem for both unfortunately, so its just one or the other, slightly favouring berba since its bpool after all and i have silva

but no roons so who knows what berba will get up too, but golden boot! lots or pros and cons just cant decide

Berbatov has scored 3 or more goals 3 times this season and is playing a Blackpool side that haven't come to defend.
        Tevez has scored one hat-trick.
Both players will be motivated to claim the golden boot but the rest of the Man City team aren't trying to play in a Champions League final next week. What I'm trying to say is I think Berba will have better service. Especially if Silva is injured.

Hey all, final showdown advice would be much appreciated - have 1 free and 40 point lead - HIS team is:

      Foster (Kingson)

Dawson, Hangeland, Johnson R (Enrique, Luiz)
      Adam, Silva, VDV, Yaya (Jarvis)
      Van Persie,Odemwingie, Drogba

      MINE:

      Foster (Begovic)
      Simpson, Kolarov, Walker (Luiz, Jara)
      Dempsey, VDV, Lampard, Yaya (Larsson)
      RVP, Bent, Suarez

Thinking maybe Berbatov in or VDV out....?
