With the dust now settled on another Fantasy Premier League (FPL) campaign, it’s time to wrap things up with our roll of honour.

As you may have read amongst these pages, Chris McGurn (aka McGurn) claimed the overall winner’s prize – the second consecutive year that the winner has been a member of the Fantasy Football Scout league following Jon Reeson’s win last term. Congratulations once again to Chris for a superb campaign – hopefully we will hear more from him over the Summer and we can only look forward to tracking his progress next season.

After a tense final day’s football, Chris eventually extended his lead to claim the title by an impressive 23 points. Below Chris, Fantasy Football Scout had four other names in the top ten. Richard Zajdlic’s “Yott” came in seventh with Patrick Tyrrell’s “Scalachis Allstars” eighth, Kevin Havelock’s “Beyond Havoc” ninth while Nick Lowther’s “Obi Wan Elokobi” came in tenth – although Nick was our Members League runner-up, he missed the deadline to join our “Classic League”. However, with Paul Walker’s “Impressive Tackle” coming 14th overall and fifth in that league, Fantasy Football Scout were able to claim the “Best League” title for the third season running. Our Members League ranked third – the aforementioned Kevin Havelock became our inaugural Members League Champion.

In addition to Chris McGurn’s triumph in the overall league, a member of the Fantasy Football Scout league also won the FPL Cup. Dermot Corrigan’s “Venga Viriato” claimed the accolade with a 59-39 victory. Enjoy that digital camera Dermot.

Closer to home, in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV, Ross Harper’s “Ninja_Fit_Saints” defeated Ray O’Biscan’s“Biscanators” by a 42-35 margin to claim the honours. Ross earns the £150 Amazon voucher with Ray claiming the £75 runner-up prize.

It was Foch’s “Suarez my Bitch Up” who claimed the Fantasy Football Scout Contributors league, beating Granville’s “G-G-GranvilleFC” in second by a huge margin of 96 points. That meant that Foch claimed an impressive 84th place ranking. It also saw Granville claiming the victory over me by 11 points – the second time in five seasons, giving him the chance to level matters next term.

A big thanks to all who joined our leagues and cup tournaments and huge congratulations to all our winners. Even Granville.

Now then – how many days till we go again?

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not going to lie, the title of this article is confusing me. Starting it with 'Fantasy Premier League' makes me think it's the FPL site when it's up in my tab bar.

Seriously though, for someone who almost always has both FFS and FPL up at the same time, it's pretty confusing! It's still tricking me.

Interestingly*, when you do actually have FPL open, the title of the article in the tab bar changes - at least in Safari.

i like the beard jokes at martin when he's doing the bet to not shave...

        Jason: You stay here.
        Martin: Why?
Jason: Cause your face looks like a vagina.
        Martin: Dick!
Jonah: How's it going Crockett, been hanging with Tubbs lately?
Martin: Come on man, I'm getting it from all angles here, I really don't like it anymore.
Jonah: I know, me either. Was it weird when you changed your name from Cat Stevens to Yusef Islam?
Martin: Yeah, it was really awkward.
Jonah: All right, see you later Scorcese on coke.
Jay: [Makes a roar like Chewbacca from Star Wars]
Martin: What the fuck was that?
        Jay: You know, Chewbacca.
Martin: Oh, another beard joke, fucking hilarious!

Martin: Do you ever get so bored, you just stare at your balls?
Jonah: I bet you do, late John Lennon.

I can never get into those sort of games, even GTA. I get bored and just give up. I always end up going back to FIFA, FM and COD. The Holy trinity!

It's the 1st of July i think. But it seems like both he and De Gea are done deals, all they have to do is sign on the dotted line. Much like Hernandez was done and dusted in March, but he didn't sign till July.

The one thing I'm going to stop doing next season - clicking 'refresh' just after 60mins to see all my clean sheet points. It's the biggest jinx ever, did it again on Sunday, my two Newcastle defenders scored 6 each, within a minute or so of doing that WBA scored killing the clean sheet points.
    Gutting.

people who like poker but don't like parting with cash:

yesterday i was on paddypower to make a little IPL (cricket bet) and saw they'd given me £2 for games there, i pissed it away in about 30 seconds on roulette, didn't care it wasn't my money in the first place.
anyway before i closed the site having place my IPL bet i clicked on poker as i was curious having played loads in my last year of school. i had a look what i could do without depositing, turns out quite a bit.
you log in with your normal paddy account and i went to tournaments, and had a look at the freerolls. i expected some catch like it's free to enter but only those who have deposited money into their poker account can enter. turns out not, scrolled down and saw there was one starting in 2 hours time. an hour later i logged on and registered (registration starts an hour before).
so i was part of a 500 person tournament for free. the calibre of players looked strong with ieatbeaver7 sitting next to me on my first table. anyway a couple of hours later 500 was whittled down to 10 and i was still there. went all in with pocket kings, guy called with ace queen and caught an ace, i was out in 7th. winner got $5, i got $1.25.
anyway today i had another look and saw a tournament starting soon with a buy in of $0.25, i had the money now so entered. 80 people were there, top 10 instead of winning money won a seat in a bigger tournament. i got in the top 10 and won a seat in the tournament 2 hours later.
this time there were just 28 people in the tournament, top 2 won a seat in a bigger tournament and 3rd won $35. i played patiently trapping when i got a big hand and made it to the last 2. now i have a seat in a tournament next week where the winner gets $6,600 working down to 100th place who gets $45. the difference is there are up to 2000 people in this tournament and for the first few stages people who go out are allowed to buy back in at $30 a pop.
anyway for nothing i have a shot at winning $6,600 more than i could ever dream of making with my £1 football and cricket bets. anyone who likes poker has a few evenings of free time and has a paddy account check it out!

Chris Ferguson, A poker pro build up $10,000 in 1.5 years starting from scratch like yourself. He started by doing freerolls, then using winnings to buy in to bigger tournaments. So there's no reason why you cant't do it too!

With the FFS site taking out first place in the leagues and the FFS Members, third, it is time to announce that the Southern Cross league came a very creditable 16th place. This follows the 18th place in the official World Cup game last year. The Southern Cross is the battleground in FPL between southern and northern hemispheres.

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/table.mc?id=197805&phase=1

A very big well done to Dom O'Brien to won the league this year and came in the top 100 overall. Top effort, Arfa! Not sure which hemisphere you are from though-I'm sure you're not a CARite! 🙂

Also top effort from Stevie Stats in second with 57 transfers used.

Southern defenders included Inalise, Christian Jarvis and moir but were just not good enough. The league is the toughest league out there and several casualties, including Torres Magic, AP and Katie, could not last the course.

When I find out which hemisphere Arfa heralds from, I'll give you an update. A strong recruitment drive in the SH will be held in pre-season. Enjoy the summer/winter wherever you may be. 🙂

Thks Jafa! At last my name gets mentioned somewhere. I was hoping it would be for winning promotion from the Reserves...but oh well, maybe next year 🙁

To be fair on Kate and TM, the one commited suicide after a identity crisis and the other I think never even entered SC. I might be wrong though.

Hope to have some chats in the pre season again. Your advice helped alot this past season.

      Cheers pal.

        Hi Inze,

That reserves league sounds hard to get out of by all accounts 😕

Gwk 29 saw you in the top 1k-that was a top effort and you were making great progress-what happened after?

Also no tranny in 24 and 25 - why was this?

You should be proud of your scores this year. I'm pretty disappointed with my own standing but I'll be a little more aggressive with trades next year particulalry the long term ones 🙂

Hi Jafs - played 2nd WC in gw 24 and that helped my ranking alot!

          Then I rolled a trade in 25.

I did not listen to your advice re no transfers. It was difficult as I got sidetracked with the h2h in the Reserves and took hits and made silly trades.

Gw34 was the worst for me. All week i told everyone on FFS to get (and captain) Dempsey. I had him on my excel teamsheet the whole week. And what do i do? Get in Zamora on the Sat morning and (c) him. 36pts, mini league title and probablt top 1K ranking down the tubes. Went donwhill from there as I could not stop blaming myself.

I think I will read and observe more on FFS this year and try not to get influenced by other opinions so much!

Trust gut instinct more seems to be the message out there. Dempsey is a dgw demigod!

At least you hit a score of over 100 🙂

Quite a few I'd imagine, it's one of the reasons I always play my wildcard early. So many of the casual players who give up after about 10 weeks follow all the early high scoring players so their values rocket.

I regretted setting my team up for the first 7 gameweeks and playing the wildcard then as planned from the start. Next season I think I will just play it when I think necessary through the season.

I don't think the money to be made in increases is worth it, since you often want to keep a few of your players so there aren't a lot of spots in your squad to take advantage of these increases.

i wouldnt use the wildcard but i may take an early season hit

i remember someone posting before that their mate tactically joined in gwk2 and had a great team value because of this, obviously thats just stupid but taking an 8-12pt hit may be worthwhile in the long run?

I never played my WC early in the past, but did this past year. It helped me get the inform Malouda/Carrol and I moved up 250K places in 1 g/week. Also added 0.8mil to team value that came in handy.

Not to sure what i will do if 2nd WC falls away though.

I always find myself wildcarding early, it's so difficult to judge on the basis of pre-season who's actually going to be starting regularly and since you're generally at the absolute limit of your budget when the season starts you don't have a lot of room to adjust gradually. The price rises and falls happen much quicker at the start of the season too as pretty much all 2.5 million players are making transfers compared to a small fraction of that late in the season.

I know Walcott did during the international break as that's when I played my Wildcard. Carroll and Drogba as well I think.
